Note on the accessories: it looks like you can use your existing Bluetooth keyboards with the iPad, with or without the dock. No need to buy another.

Just the 16 GB for me, in-store pickup (too impatient to wait until Apr. 5, since I know FedEx does not deliver to my area on Saturdays).
Should I buy the dock and case on-line or just pick them up at the store, too?

Did the iPad always have a hardware Screen Rotation Lock button? I just noticed that today after I ordered mine.

I thought for sure that button said "mute" last time I looked at the tech specs.

Pre-Ordered the 32GB Wi-Fi with the Dock. I could resist...

I had to order it...

I figure if I don't like it, I will sell it on eBay and get most if not all my money back. I have to at least try it out.

Why, after clicking past the cart (where it says I'll have it on the 3rd) do I have an option for standard delivery (free) or 2-3 day ($12)? It sounds like neither would arrive by the third?

I live in Cambridge, MA (Boston metro area).

I was on hold (for I knew not how long it would be) with Apple when I posted this, but they finally got to my call. The support guy told me he wasn't sure why there were multiple shipping options offered, but the standard shipping is the one I should pick, and it would give me Saturday delivery.

While he was telling me that, I was wondering how the retail RSVP process worked. When I tried it on the website, it says you pay at pickup...and you have to pick up between 9am and 3pm. Does that mean you have to wait in line with the rest of the plebes?

Agreed.

I'd much rather have a "mute" switch, though I guess since I pretty much always mute, it's not a big deal.

It does raise some minor questions for developers, though.

Yeah... what the...where did that come from? They decided to ditch the silent/ringer switch in favor of a rotation lock?

How is that going to work for Apps that force one position or the other?

No i noticed that to, and if you look at the graph, applecare only extends it 1 extra year to a total of only 2, not 3:confused:

Why is this so bothersome to some people? This is not a Mac. This is a large iPhone. The iPhone only offers an extra year to the standard one year warranty.

THey've added a "iPad" button at the top. At the home screen, the buttons are there in the code, just not visual

Yeah and they have taken away access to the DOWNLOAD section at this point. No easy way to get to the trailers section. But I'll give them some time to get all of the buttons working properly before passing judgement.

Most people would walk into an Apple store and try it out. I wish I money to throw around like that.

My giant iPod Touch is on the way! Woo-HOO!
Well, not on the way yet, on the way April 3rd – I’m guessing that’s when
it will be shipped. Anyway I got the 16G WiFi + the case + Applecare, of
course.
Now all I have to do is… wait some more. :(

Reserve

If you go into the Apple store on-line you won't see the pick up option you must go to a SEPARATE page to order it for in-store pickup

http://www.apple.com/retail/reserve/

Apple should make this more clear because you would never know it was there if you went online in the store.

Discussed by whom? You and the Apple higher ups? I'm willing to bet you it will have a Flash plugin at some point. Whether its later on this year or a 2nd generation iPad.

Apple will NEVER implement Flash on the iPhone/iPad. They are pushing their H.264 codec instead, much to Adobe's annoyance.

"First time ever pre-ordering something from Apple and it went smooth as silk. Process took just a couple minutes.

Question though, will Apple charge my card today or when the item ships?"

They charge when it ships.

They authorize your card for the full amount at the time of purchase then charge it when it becomes available for shipping.

Just paid $829 for something that will be 1/2 the price in 3 months

Just bought the 32GB Wifi + 3G model. How does apple do it? I thought I was going to get the $499 model, but like buying popcorn at the movie theatre, slowely creeped up to the 32GB Wifi + 3G and the dock. $829...ouch! Kind of stung a bit...oh well, this is why I work so hard I guess.

No UK

I was getting excited, not about the prospect of the iPad - but because they also halted the UK store for an update.

I was hoping they would release the new MBP - but to no avail :(

It's been 18 months since I sold my last PPC laptop so its definitely time for a change!

Ordered 2

I ordered a 16GB Wifi model for my Father's 70th birthday, to pick up in store. Ordered a 32GB 3G/Wifi for my business. Gotta love corporate purchases!

Public Service Announcement

If you just want to reserve one for pick-up, go to

http://www.apple.com/retail/reserve/

I wanted to reserve a 3G model but I did not see that option. I understand they don't know exactly when they would be in the Apple Store for pick-up but home delivery is a problem for me as I work during the day. Work delivery is not an option as I work at a university and sometimes packages get delivered but get lost in the on-campus delivery system.

Anyway, I see an on or before April 20 delivery date via standard shipping.

Ugh so weak. I went from mildly interested in macs (critical but owned a mac laptop) to a raving apple fanboy since receiving a iPod touch as a gift. iPad is pretty much exactly what I wanted. Larger, faster, longer battery life version of the iPod Touch and I just had to get one.

My order status says delivered by 4/3 so maybe they will be delivered on Friday? Would be nice :D

I find it amusing that so many people seem to be against it, yet no one here has actually seen one in person or used it. Rarely does Steve let a product go to market that flops, so I imagine it will be a fantastic device. But of course, that is obviously speculation on my part, so I guess we'll see. ;)

I'm fairly certain that I'll buy one, but I'm going to at least wait until I can check it out in person and let all of the early adopters shake out any issues if there are any. And if I decide to wait more than 3 or 4 months, I'll probably hold out for v2.

Assisted GPS

Huy guys,

I never owned an iPhone or iPod touch, but I will buy the iPad. Now my question, I will not use the 3G for data, but I would love to use my iPad for GPS as i ma travelling a lot. Is the 3G will allow me to do this without a data plan?

Is the "assisted GPS" is as good as a "real GPS"?

Thanks.
