Apple Begins Paying Developers After Reaching $100 Million App Store Settlement

Update: I got an email saying they sent a check to a very very old address even tho I requested a PayPal payment. This is the address that my business is registered to (I never gave them this address) Maybe my amount was to large to send over PayPal? Idk.
They took about 12 days to respond so that check is as good as gone.
I guess now I gotta figure out how to contact them to get them to send the check to the correct address or actually use PayPal as I requested.

How much is your check for? I got a $14k payment via PayPal, so I know they can make large payments.

Did they ever get back to you and resend payment?

Just found out they did this to me too. And I know they have the correct address.

Let us know what happens...

They didn’t let me know how much the check was for and they have not responded since I emailed them last.

Yea still no response since last Thursday. I replied back on the email they sent me.

I also gave a diff address but they sent to my Apple address for some reason.

So not only did they not sent to PayPal which I requested and got a confirmation on they also didn’t send to the address I filed the claim with…

Honestly I’m in no rush to get the money as long as I get it at some point I’ll be happy but this has been pretty annoying.

I also requested PayPal too, but they mailed a check anyway. (To an old address, as I mentioned above.)

The only response I ever get is a form email saying they are answering emails as quickly as they can, and that it will take 5 to 10 days to get a response (it has already been longer than 10 days in my case). When I filed my claim, I requested PayPal, but have not yet received a PayPal payment or snail-mailed check. Frustrating!

I hope they don’t do that. Do they realize people from time-to-time move addresses hence why we ask to be paid out via PayPal?!?
 
UPDATE for those needing some info. I received another update from the administrator today. It says:

“Thank you for contacting the Cameron et al. v. Apple, Inc. Settlement Administrator.

Once your W9 has been submitted and processed, it will take approximately 30 days for your payment to be issued. We appreciate your patience. Your payment will be issued in the payment method selected on your claim form. If your option selected was via check it will be mailed to the address provided on your W9 form.
Thank you,
Cameron et al. v. Apple, Inc.
Settlement Administrator.
www.smallappdeveloperassistance.com”

For me, I am moving away from my current address mid December. I opted PayPal so hopefully they will stick to that payout method!

I responded and told them they used the wrong address, I have not heard anything further...

I emailed them on October 27 (17 days ago) and have heard nothing back aside from a form email saying it would take 5 to 10 days for them to provide any details. So I emailed them again today for whatever good that will do.
 
I still have not heard back since I responded on Nov. 3rd asking for the next steps.

I emailed them again today with pretty much the same question.

I finally got through to them by phone: (215) 563-4116 extension 121. They did indeed send a paper check to an address we haven't used in over a decade. The amount of the check was a little over 4X the estimated $5K.

To remedy the situation, they will email me an affidavit which I must complete and return to them. No idea when I would get the replacement check.

Yes I finally got an email as well with an affidavit to fill out.

On closer inspection it says I can’t request a new check until 30 days after the original check was sent Which it looks like was Oct 19th.

And at the bottom of the affidavit which needs to be legally notarized it says this must be received by 11/21/22.

So they give me a nice 3 day window to get a chance at getting another check. This is after about a 10 day of them replying to me…

I assume they collect 20-30 million for this suit. They really can’t spend a bit more on better communication? This is insane.

Yeah, my original was cut on Oct 18. I just went ahead and emailed back the notarized affidavit yesterday anyway. They can sit on it for a couple more days before cutting a new check.

Yea just to be safe a mailed a physical copy and am emailing another copy today.


Again it’s no rush (I wasn’t expecting anything) but the thought of losing out on this because of their errors or process is maddening

Not me yet. But I did get a confirmation email about the payment method. I’m expecting my payment sometime between December 1 to December 8. Based on what the firm says about payment being 30 days after you complete the W9.
 
I had to fill out that affidavit and get it notarized. I emailed a scanned copy and sent in a physical copy next day mail as well to make sure everything was covered.

They emailed me back saying “ We have received your affidavit for check reissue and it has been processed. We will be distributing your reissued check as soon as possible to the address provided. We appreciate your patience.”

No indication of when it would arrive but it makes me feel better they atleast communicated they received my documents.

I’ll update if/when I get a check.

My initial payment was supposed be around 4K and they said they check should be 14k something.

Pretty life changing for me since my development days are likely behind me and I was lucky to make 40-50k a year when I was doing fulltime solo development. I told myself if I did get this payment I would finish up the sequel I was working on for my last game so this is pretty exciting.

I sent the physical mail overnight on the 17th and then emailed the night of the 18th.

I got the response on the Monday 21st.


Still no check in the mail but I assume I won’t see that until Dec at the earliest.

I emailed my completed, notarized affidavit to them on November 14.

I received the form letter acknowledgement email response back from them on November 21.

No replacement check has arrived yet.
 
I've been trying to get them to either
A) Confirm the venmo email address I gave them a year ago
or
B) Simply send me a check in the mail.

The email I gave them is one of two possible ones but they for the life of me won't respond with anything concrete. They go as far to not even return the call I left them 2 weeks ago. Not asking them to change anything at all as far as the initial claim.

Might just lose out on the $8k entirely. :(
