they are obviously running out of money

The problem with your post, it isn’t based on facts, it’s based on snark. There really is no other logical explanation on why they returned the SE, other than liquidation of over stock, that’s it. Also, for the record, they marked the SE down likely to move the inventory as fast as they could, and because it is almost a three year old device.

So thats it? Out of stock and no more restocking of the SE ?
If it’s truly just re-selling overstock, then probably. If it was also a market test, then perhaps not, or perhaps we’ll see a refresh. My guess is that Apple is considering many options for the iPhone lineup. It may be too late to make major changes for 2019, but we’ll see.

Probably carrier returns or just inventory they had around when it was canned.
I think they were still selling the SE in emerging markets through carriers even after it was officially discontinued. This may have been what was left over.

Just on a point of fact, I keep seeing people refer to the SE as being ‘nearly three years old’, which is kind of correct in most respects, but the 32GB and 128GB models are actually only nearly two years old, as the original capacities were just 16GB and 64GB. I know, pedantic. :)

I agree. I do need a more powerful device (i.i. a mini computer) so I have the Xs. However, for simply web browsing email, text, chat, and...phone calls, this SE one of the best devices Apple ever sold.

I totally get that many people, like yourself, want/need the mini computer and want a bigger device with a bigger display, and so I’m pleased that category exists for all of you.

Personally the way I live and work, I just want a small phone that fits in my pockets really easily and does all the basics well - and for me the SE fits that almost perfectly. I am fortunate enough to be able to use an iPad for larger-screened iOS stuff and macs for yet other stuff. But I know for a lot of people, the iPhone basically is their primary computer, so I do get it. I had an iPhone 6 and yeah it’s better for watching video on and (for me) ever so slightly easier to type messages etc. But for me, those things didn’t outweight the pocketability of the iPhone SE and earlier small models. But everyone’s needs are different.

I just want Apple to continue catering to us folks who like a smaller iPhone. By definition, it used to be all iPhone users who used the smaller sized devices, and I think most of us liked them then... and if we’re a minority, well so what? Apple’s history is dominated by their products serving the minority! Hello mac! :)

I’m pedantic to, so I see your point. I simply meant three years old in the sense that by approaching March 2019, it’s almost 3 years ago from when the SE launched from that keynote specifically.

I suspect that now that’s completely out of stock, that’s it. They’re not going to restock it anymore based off that limited sale.

I wouldn't be so sore about this if I didn't buy a 64GB off eBay that the seller claimed was in 'EXCELLENT condition' but when it got here the screen was all scratched up and the phone flat-out failed diagnostic at Apple, then got a 32GB new which seems to be okay minus a kind of mushy charging port and locked to AT&T Prepaid for six months. Catching this on time would've been a dream. I hope more come out. Everything on Swappa is overpriced or by those crappy reburb shops that say it's in mint condition but there's scratches on the screen.

Apple do not really say they are discontinuing a product. They just remove it from their websites.
This is just Macrumors interpreting Apple's action.

The iPhone 5s has been available in India the whole time, f.ex.

We figured that out within a couple minutes of the story going up, it was a typo. I figured it never really went completely off the global market.

IMO Apple shpuld have
iPhone small like SE but with a iPhone 7 model design at $300
iPhone XR at $500
iPhone XS at $700
iPhone XS+ at $800
All starting prices for the base models with at least 64gb.
That makes way more sense to me and the sales would be insane.

Wow, how long were those available before they were completely sold out. Now you can only get a refurbished 7 with 128gb for $19 more than a brand new 32gb.

The cable bill phenomenon happening with wireless phone bills. People are starting to realize the reality of what they are paying per month for their phones. If they thought the cable bill was high, the reality of their wireless bill makes cable look like a bargain.

More how do I reduce my current phone bills coming. The first and least impact, find a phone that gets the job done while reducing their bill. A family of four, at current SE pricing, would save about 2K over the life of four iPhones. Apple’s echo system desired but, just like cable at some point many will be forced to find less expensive alternatives.

Hopefully by this action Apple has received the message.

About 12 hours. MacRumors was the only Apple rumor site that posted it for quite a while.

This was back when Apple thought it was a good idea to not obstruct part of the screen with a notch, back when they weren't morons.

Too small but I love the design.

Too big, I don’t love the design. 4s forever!

Got one...less storage than I prefer but I'm invested in iCloud so it'll be OK.

Will these come with the iOS they originally had or does Apple send 'em out with the latest iOS version? If they come with older iOS version, leave it or upgrade to latest? Thanks for any opinions...

Never upgrade such phones. Apple destroys them on purpose!

Dumb question about these SE's. Are they all CDMA and GSM compatible? Or does it vary by phone?

Hope they put another batch out there. Would prefer Space Grey, but will probably slap a case on it anyway.

yes, it was sarcasm and there is nothing wrong with my previous post. Apple disappointing me lately. Tim Cook seems to be more accountant than visionare like Steve Jobs was.
