Yes, I am familiar with the 6s size. One of my girls has a 6 and the other has a 7.

There are other things I dislike about the 6 design that I just didn't get into earlier. For example, I really dislike the the rounded edges of the 6 design. I also didn't like the camera bump.

Plus, when I got rid of the 6s Plus, it was much cheaper to get an iPhone SE than a 6s, 7, or 8.
I get where you are coming from. Its a shame that Apple only ever meets the needs of 90% of its customers.
That remaining 10% is still a big number and would be great for Apple to cater for them - i miss the headphone jack still even though I do have a pair of bluetooth headphones.

If apple would just ask users they would design things that can sell. iPhone se size, better processor and complete front of all screen. Increase usable viewing space by 30% from current se. They would sell like Hot cakes on a wintry night.

At those prices, anyone in the market for an iPod Touch would be very foolish not to get this instead.

I actually just bought a refurb one (that looks and acts brand new) off of Ebay for precisely this reason.

But I tried using it for non-phone reasons (apps, iMessage) and the screen is entirely too small for my liking. And maybe I have big fingers or something, but the keyboard is too small and I often end up typing the letter next to the one I intended to. I even installed Swiftkey as I prefer their keyboards over stock ones, but it didn't really help.

I like the fact that it went to iOS 12 since my old iPod only went to 9.5.5 but I would have loved it if there was a 256gb option to future proof the device. I am coming from a 64gb iPod and my music purchasing has slowed significantly from 5 or more years ago, but I still wonder if I will max out the 128gb.

I still love the SE size, but the tech feels too dated for me to go back to one. The screen is too dim, the cameras (especially front camera) feel quite dated, no 3D Touch (which I use constantly), first gen Touch ID... and this is just compared to my 7, which is two years old itself.

Ugh. Sold out. Had rose in cart and sold out before I finished checking out. Then I carted gold but couldn’t check out before it sold out. :(

Any chance of a restock, and if so, what’s the best way to monitor and get a push notification when it happens so I’m not just constantly refreshing?

Edit: Got lucky and was able to order a 128GB phone when they restocked later in the evening.

Not really. A 32GB SE only sells for about $100 used. The SE has little value on the market.
That’s without warranty or AppleCare.

I meant for the ones being sold as new. Even so, I would think twice about buying a used one in fair condition in the low 100’s when a new one with factory warranty can be had for 250. That being said, I bet most on Swappa won’t even check Apples prices before looking on Swappa.

This is a test! Everybody buy one! If they sell well, they’ll decide to resurrect the smaller form factor! Go! Let’s do this!
I’m not kidding. I think the iPhone 5S was one of the best looking phones ever and at that price, $300 for a 128GB iPhone 6S packed in to the iPhone 5S body is hard to pass.

Definitely weird. I can't help but think they're trying to bolster their iPhone sales.
Nothing wrong with that.

Why has nobody mentioned another key selling point of the SE: it is LIGHT! The big phones are HEAVY AF -- think Chevy Suburban vs. Lotus Elise.

Absolutely! I would pay $749 for an iPhone SE-X type.

I would pay iPhone XS money for an "iPhone XS-Minus" -- basically, a smaller, LIGHTER XS.

Maybe brand it "XS-UL" (for "Ultralight").

Key upgrades over SE, in order of importance/desirability (to me), would be:

* IP67 / IP68 waterproof
* Better camera, including top-of-line HDR performance, and video performance (4k@60+fps, 1080p@240+fps)
* wireless charging -- but KEEP IT LIGHT, so make the back face out of CARBON FIBER, NOT GLASS
* higher flash storage capacity (to go along with the improved camera)
* newer CPU

Keep the SE's low weight, i.e., use an aluminum case, or maybe even a "billet carbon fiber" option, i.e., machine the case out of a carbon fiber billet instead of aluminum.

Happy to do without FaceID (don't need it -- it's insecure anyway) and the other "latest gimmicks".

Imagine a 5.2" screen XR with a slighter smaller form factor then the iPhone 6/7/8. That would sell very well.
Still the best iPhone they sell IMHO.
The form factor feels great in hand and the interface is just perfect to navigate with just your thumb. The SE had the internals of the 6S, and I was still happy with that phone up until I traded-in for the Xs a month ago.

Anyone else think this move is strange?

I can't remember another time that Apple discontinued a device, then months later, start to sell it again as clearance.
It's curious indeed. In fact I wonder if they're testing the waters to see if it still sells.

Apple needs to make inroads in India badly and I don't think it would be hard to update the processor and camera on the SE, keep the casing and stick to this price point.

My guess is that Apple originally intended to sell these in India or re-sellers in China, but since they aren't selling there, decided to make them available in the US where, at $249, they are almost a disposable device.
