This device will need to get a damn good battery. Hopefully I'll buy into this gimmick device when the 2nd generation is released.

I've worn my Apple Watch daily since it came out almost 4 months ago. I have yet to run out of battery and I make thorough use of it. Most days I have upwards of 50% remaining when I take it off at night. This means I probably COULD wear it for two days if I felt like pushing it. I just put it on the charger on my nightstand at the same time that I plug my iPhone in, no big deal.

My Modern Buckle band arrived today. It's nice. Much more comfortable than the Sport band, and a little more comfy than the Milanese. The leather feels lovely and soft, but strong. The clasp opens easily and closes securely. I bought the large size and need to use the smallest setting, so I was at first wondering whether I should have bought the medium instead, but it does seem to be snug enough.

What an utterly silly comment! You do realised the value of money is entirely relative don't you? Relatively, the amount some people are spending on these bands is no more than what some people would happily spend on a coffee, which is in itself what some people in the world would live on for a day. The value the band brings is also relative, if you enjoy it, it may well be worth it to you.

A lot of my mates like cars and will happily spend tens of thousands on them. I don't like cars and drive a wreck (a safe one), but I do like Apple products and strippers. Neither of us are wrong, just different.

If you have the free income, spend it on whatever you want. No one can tell you its stupid.

I think the reply is sillier. I'm sorry but I don't see how anyone could think a rubber bracelet is worth as much as an electronic device. One holds something to your arm, the other is a device you do work and entertainment on, there is no justification that the two objects have the same price. They do it cuz they're Apple, and they know their userbase. Also imagining a rubber band doing sexy dances on a pole and people throwing money at is hilarious.

Rubber bracelet? It's a metal link bracelet. Unless you're talking about the Sport band?

Sorry, but even a single replacement link for link bracelets from luxury watch manufacturers can cost as much as Apple's Link Bracelet.

Then you don't understand three facts:

1) Money has no intrinsic value.
2) The value or worth of any item is defined by the buyer and seller in any exchange.
3) Worth is entirely relative.

The often quoted example is "how much is a glass of water worth ?". I guess you'll say a few cents. Ask the same question to someone dying of thirst! Clearly the water example is tied to the need it full fills, but its equally valid for it to be linked to the subjective enjoyment it brings.

As for "rubber band doing sexy dances on a pole and people throwing money at is hilarious", if that's what floats someone's boat and they can afford it, so be it. Is that any more stupid than paying several dollars for a bottle of water when there is perfectly good tap water? I could give dozens of examples where our society spends money in socially acceptable ways, that other societies would consider insane.

As someone else said in this thread, it's unwise to tell someone they are stupid in what they spend their money on, as there will be dozens of people standing behind you waiting to tell you the same.

Rather than saying person x is silly to spend y dollars on that, it would be much wiser to simply say "To me that item is not worth it". It also shows an appreciation of the fact that other people might value things differently to you!

Not genuine ones. They do look very nice but there's no guarantee of quality.

That may be true of other bands (particularly the Leather Loop and Sport bands), but certainly not the Modern Buckle knockoff. Below is an example of one. Pretty horrendous in my opinion.

"To me that item is not worth it"
Let me correct that: to anyone with an IQ over 80 that item is not worth the pricetag Apple gave it. There is no justification no matter how hard you try. It's a buckle. A freaking buckle. Not a computer, not a car, NOT WATER. A freaking buckle that straps a device to your arm. The MOST it should cost is $50, but Timmy loves counting his beans off idiots who don't value the money they earn and blow it on ripoffs like blind sheep.

You really have no idea about relative value do you? Money has no intrinsic value either, it too is relative . Why Am I bothering?

As for what it " should cost", get some education in economics. Something is worth what someone else will pay, it is most certainty not the sum of the cost of it's parts (including R&D etc) plus whatever margin you think is acceptable.

You're clearly incapable of seeing how other people may value things differently to you (including money) so drop back to insults about their IQ. Please keep posting! Every time you post you highlight why you should be ignored.

Well, sheep that are used to artificial food will not likely go back to natural grass when offered cuz of all the addictive **** they put in artificial food, so being ignored is not news to me. I'm not here to troll, I'm an Apple fan to some extent, but I like to keep it real. Please spare me on your talk about economics and ****.

Apple's reality distortion and scum tactics are getting out of hand. First a watch buckle that they charge a kidney for, then a Macbook that has the power of a tablet and twice the price (with a 480p camera), garbage versions of products no one wants (16GB iPhone, 1.4 Ghz iMac, Mac mini with no upgradable RAM) just so they bump up the price on the higher end models, ****** software like Apple Music on iOS that is infested with bugs. But then we have people like YOU who still buy into all this, telling ME to get education. The real question is, why the hell am --I-- bothering.

Sure, no problem. In a discussion about what an item is worth, lets put aside "economics and ****"!

Once we're done, lets head over to another forum and have chat about Religion and but put aside any talk of God.

In other words, lets have a totally irrational, emotional and narrow minded chat about worth. That'll be constructive!

Comprehension is not your strong point is it? Where did I say that I am happy about the pricing of all Apples products, please provide a quote? For example, I really like the the metal link band for the Apple watch, have I bought one, no! Why, because it's not worth it to ME! While I don't think it's worth it, I don't insult people that do. I respect their choice to spend their money as they see fit. This is clearly something you are incapable of doing. I can name several Apple products where I feel the same.

You know what, all those products that you say are a rip off or just poor, people are buying them. So, are the 100,000's of happy customers all fools and somehow it's you that sees the light? If you think that your arrogance is off the scale.

Looking back at my post I was wrong to tell you to get an education, acquiring a little maturity would be a better idea. You're clearly incapable of accepting that everybody is different and that other people have a different perspective as to what something is worth. There is nothing wrong with you feeling Apple has lost it's way, but you come over as a petulant child when you claim only idiots and people with low IQ's will buy certain products.

You know what, I'm getting tired of you, dude. I'm beyond the point where I'm amused and now just sad. I never claimed that you said any of that, but now knowing you agree with me yet you're defending these people is just pathetic. I merely added that part to my comment cuz it's relevant to what's going on. Apple makes mediocre crap and uses mind-bending marketing to sell it, because they know how their fanbase works (that video on gold, aluminum and steel is enough to prove it). They release stuff before it's properly tested, all cuz they know sheep won't care and are happy regardless, and those who speak out are frowned upon. I wish Jobs was alive, then things would be better. Defend these people all you want if you like playing white knight. Apple is treating their customers like idiotic blind sheep, and there is no reason to defend them if they cave in to them. I standby my opinion on the matter, regardless what you may think of me. Who the **** cares honestly. I will never respect idiocy. Have a good day.

Whatever man, to me a buckle is a ****ing buckle, no one else charges THIS much for it.

Please spare me of your idiocy. First a car, then water, now GOD.

Sure, irrational, emotional and narrow minded lil' ol me. At least I have a head on my shoulders. Bye.

I don't think you got the point I've been making. I have no problem with criticising Apple and their products and I agree, I think some some are over priced. What I have taken issue with is calling people idiots, sheep or IQ deficient because they disagree with you and choose to buy them.

You keep telling yourself that you have "your head on your shoulders", as after all, self praise and insulting others, will take you far!

I got the point. I don't care if you think I'm mean to other people, they deserve it for their actions. You could have just ignored me like you said people should, but you did a poor job with it.

Yes, I do. And you also don't get something: I never said people are dumb for not thinking like ME, they are dumb for purchasing a piece of metal at such a price when much more important and worthwhile items can be bought for that much. No other company charges this much for such an accessory like this because they know full well it's not worth that much, so the whole economics and relative worth and such is bull. But because it's Apple, because they know how loyal their fans are, and because Timmy likes counting his beans, they do it. Sure to some, that amount is lunch money, but mot of those people barely value their income, so it's not okay.

You stated you thought certain products are a rip off. You also stated that people that buy them are dumb, off low IQ and sheep. Therefore people that don't hold the same view as you on this issue are stupid, IQ deficient sheep. If you can't see that that was the summation of your comments, then what I can I say!

As to no other company charging that much, that's rubbish, many, many mid to high end watch manufacturers charge that for bands (no I'm not going to provide a link, Google is your friend). There is a strong argument that the watch watch is not in that category, but the link band most certainly is.

As for being mean to other people, that fact that you think its a constructive way to put forward a case says it all really. As for ignoring you, if it was just about your actual concerns about Apple I would have done so. But being so arrogant and ignorant to think you can denigrate people that make a different choice to you, nope, I'm not going to do that.

As for "so the whole economics and relative worth and such is bull" that obviously did not sink in. So you use a circular argument to justify your nonsense. You really can't see the relative cost of the band to someone that has $50,000 a year of free income is different to someone that has $5,000?

I'm not the only one with this opinion, and I standby it unless someone can prove that the pricing is reasonable and it's well worth it.

Don't tell me to Google stuff, show me. But I did look, and I found whole watches costing a few grand, but there's a difference between a fully functioning Rolex and a piece of metal made by Apple. Or does Apple think they're Rolex now? Don't make me laugh, if there's anyone who is arrogant it's Jony Ive jerking his simplistic flat minimal dick, talking about metal as if they're the only ones who use those materials to make things.

Well then you're gonna be here for a while cuz you will not see apologies from me, so bring some sandwiches. Why you feel the need to still reply and play the white knight is beyond me.

I'M FULLY AWARE that some people have massive income so it's not an issue for them, but that doesn't justify the price, nor does it make them less foolish for spending so much on such a product, if anything to me it says they don't appreciate the money they get and throw it around like it grows on trees. If they wanna throw it around give it to people who might need that money they spent on a ****ing metal band! Maybe I have to repeat myself because you don't get that you're protecting people who spend a fortune on an item that is waaay beyond the price it's actually worth and making themselves look like fools. Regardless of their income.

Don't you think it's time to screw off? I sure do!

Never said you were, nothing wrong with you thinking it's over priced. But as I've said many, many times, it's relative and calling people sheep, IQ deficient etc. for thinking differently is your problem. And don't say you didn't.

You stated clearly that you think it's a rip-off and insulted people that bought it. Unless you would have insulted them even if they agreed with you, you did so because they hold a different opinion to you.

Don't tell me to Google stuff, show me. But I did look,

Then try searching for replacement bands or links. A Rolex explorer replacement metal strap retails at around $900 (US) where I'm from. In terms of quality, the apple metal band is actually, in my opinion better.

Never asked for an apology, I'm more than content to highlight your juvenile and arrogant approach to those that think differently to yourself. As for white knight, you've missed the point again haven't you? My issue is more with your rudeness and arrogance. If it hadn't been for that, I'd have been more than happy for those that bought this band to defend it themselves.

Oh so your the moral police and have the right to tell everyone how they should spend their money? It has nothing to do with massive income, it's free income that matters. Depending on how someone lives, an individual with a modest income can have quite a substantial free income.

Most free income that is spent is spent frivolously. But you've decided someone that buys this strap is to be insulted. Does that also apply to people that buy alcohol, coffee, designer clothes, perfume, jewellery etc. All those items have MASSIVE mark-ups. The fact most people do appreciate the money they earn and spend their free income on things they enjoy. As for giving their money away to those in need, well, unless your'e a monk, your a hypocrite , because I can guarantee their is someone in the world that would benefit more from the money that supports your lifestyle.

I just can't, not only is this fun, but also every time you post something you highlight the intellectual shallowness of your argument. I don't really need to say anything, I just need to keep you posting.

Again , you miss the point (is that the 7th time now). I don't take particular issue with your opinion, I take it with your rudeness towards people that have a different opinion. Has that been adsorbed now. Somehow I think not, maybe it's 8 times lucky. Is that a flying pig I see yonder.............

Ohhh, I almost forgot, I assume you're not a monk then? You decided to not address that question? I guess you managed to push the mental image or the worlds destitute and poor put of you mind today. Isn't it funny how easy it is to do that that when you're buying things you value, but it's strange how easy it is to insult and criticise others. Mrhhhhh, I think there is a word for people like that.

I didn't miss the point, I got it since the first time you said it. You're calling me out on my attitude towards people who don't view the situation as I do. You don't need to bang on about it. Love the snarky remark though. I was curious if you knew what you're doing and how you're wasting your time. You missed it.

No, I'm not a monk. My pay is what I get, I dont get free additions, so I plan what I buy thoroughly. That didn't stop me from giving a chunk to a person who was in dire need of help when everyone else abandoned her. You think I would have brought that up if I never do it myself? Hope that answered your question.

Don't worry about me wasting my time, I've got plenty. And pulling up people on being arrogant and rude is never a waste of time.

Good for you (I mean that, I'm not being snarky), but the point stands. Their is someone in the world that would benefit more from the money that supports your lifestyle (as you live in a developed country). So it's unwise at best to tell other people they are wasting their money and would be better off giving it to the poor. If you live in the West, you are in large highly privileged by world standards. You think Apple bands are frivolous, many people in the world would say most of your every day purchases are frivolous. Remember, it's you the decided to bring the poor and needy into this debate.

You think Apple bands are frivolous, many people in the world would say most of your every day purchases are frivolous. Remember, it's you the decided to bring the poor and needy into this debate.

You bring up a valid point, and I agree. I'm sorry, it was unwise of me to be so mean and I apologize, even though I said I would not. I'm too caught up in my disappointment in Apple's recent screw-ups. I just want them to be better because I used to have so much respect for them, and it's slowly dwindling. I remember the first time I used iOS and OSX and thought it was so awesome. I adopted their design mentality into my work and they abandoned what they taught me, and I feel betrayed. I'm scared they might end up having a sort of money-first-innovation-later kind of mentality. I see some people buy into anything they do and that's not helping the matter, it's encouraging them to continue down this path.
