Um no, that’s not what is happening here.
The throttling was introduced to prevent random shutdowns in phones whose batteries have degraded through normal wear and tear. There was nothing to recall because there was nothing faulty with the phones in the first place. Apple has even gone so far as to assert that they will continue to do this for subsequent iPhones via future software updates.
That’s not true. I had an iPhone 6s that I returned with the shut down issue. It was less than 6 months old. It wasn’t part of the iPhone 6s shutdown recall. The replacement phone I got had the same issue. Checked the serial number and it wasn’t part of the bad batch as well. When 10.2.1 came out, the shutdowns went away. So the shutdown issue is definitely not due to just wear and tear.
