I love profit in exchange for my hard work, but I'll never step on anyone to get excessive profit.
It's just wrong!!! And this is what Apple, under Timmy, is doing. It's unethical, but unfortunately it's legal.
It's awesome how Timmy is so good at privacy ethics, but sucks at profit ethics. Business 101 I guess: Profit is the only thing that matters.
Lol. So many wrong statements in that quote.

I noticed a brief image like in the picture on the bottom of my screen at start up. It hasn't affected anything else but still is concerning, so I would appreciate a fix soon. Like many I don't love everything about the new MacBook Pro, but I am adjusting to it and really appreciate the things it does well.

Except this is Gen 4, it's been 10 years since Gen 1! How much longer do we need to wait it out?

Using the same name doesn't mean it's full of know technology. They showed the older MBs and then proudly presented this REV A, if you want of Gen 4.

Between NVIDIA, Intel and AMD chips Apple has always had graphic chip issues which it never solved and that remains the case today.

I've been reading MacRumors for years... thank you so much for collecting all these amazing articles and publishing.
This is the first year where I've genuinely seen MacRumors members change from very happy people having fun discussions and heated discussions, to truly angry people (at Apple) for peeing in their ear and trying to tell us its raining.
Apple... please listen to us. We are not just niche people, but people who used to believe in what you were doing, and you are driving us away.

My late 2012 Mac mini server has a graphics bug when displaying screen saver Arabesque. Lots of broken white lines. This started in Sierra. I have seen it in another Mac mini here at work.

not to beat a dead horse or anything, but for the cost of these machines, you would expect them to be damn near bug free
Tell that to the first generation of the MacBook Pros in 2007. Cost 3000 each and nobody dared to speak up. Same goes for the MacBooks in 2012.

Now we know why the huge price increase:
1) Psychedelic screen
2) Removal of all useful ports
3) Magsafe gone
4) Retainment of headphone jack

Sooo glad I didn't get this machine. It's a version 1. It's too expensive and it's going to have issues.

I'll grab a 2015 for now and wait and see what happens with Apple's next Macbook Pro release. a 2015 Macbook Pro will match my 2015 iMac better anyway (with similar ports). It drives me nuts when Apple divides their product lines with inconsistent ports that don't match up with each other. Right now they sell their iphone with a lighting port, their Macbook and Macbook Pro with USB-C, and then their Macbook Air, iMac and Mac Pro with USB 3/Thunderbolt. No matter what, you are living with adapters if you own more than one of these machines.

"We Believe"....

Telling words. Means they're not sure.

"Web Believe" ranks up there with PR no-no speak. alongside the words "Should", "Might", and "Maybe"

as someone working in the software industry. Those sorts of words always come back to bite us in the ass. You have to be reasonably sure and stand by what you say.

if they Fixed it in the new update, then say "we have fixed it". if you don't know if it's fixed by the new update, keep your mouth shut and level set expectations "We are working on it"

but the "we believe". nahhh, just nahhhh

It's more profitable to let consumers do the QA than hiring a dedicated QA team at Apple. Good job Tim Crook.

They could have built it so the Graphics work properly .... but it would have affected battery life and the machine would have 0.0001 microns thicker. So, you know...

Seriously though... what do we expect from a company with ONE line of computers. One laptop line that gets refreshed every few years whether they need it or not. Apple is a company that makes phones and headphones. Anybody with specific knowledge about how to make a great computer was run long ago ( cough... FORSTALL, cough )

Same for me and my 17 inch 2011 MBP. It has the same amount of RAM as a new maxed out MBP anyways (because I could upgrade it myself - imagine that). Granted, the RAM is not as fast.

I have actually started taking a peak at HP ZBooks and Microsoft SurfaceBooks now. I have a workstation with Windows 10 and honestly it has been extremely stable for me.

I'm also a 17" lover.

I've been looking at the Razer Blade Pro as its replacement.

It's everything I wanted in an Apple 17", but sadly without macOS and slim bezels. :(

Maybe Apple should finally move to NVIDIA again, I don't understand why they sold their soul to AMD. Pissed off about CUDA?
few reasons:

1. CUDA is proprietary, and right now would require Apple re-writing all their software to be able to support CUDA instructions instead of OpenCL

2. OpenCL is open standard for GPU computer. So it doesn't tie Apple down to a proprietary 3rd party solution. It allows them to keep the doors open to shifting away from AMD to an In-House, or other 3rd party OpenCL / CPGPU solution that also supports OpenCL

3. Nvidia doesn't do "custom" chipsets. AMD Does. AMD's smaller size, and almost desperation to keep up means they're more willing to work with vendors to provide modifications to their designs and chipsets for diffrent performance uses. For example, The current generations of Consoles (PS4 and Xbox One) have opted to go to AMD for this purpose.

4. Cost. AMD tends to provide their solutions at cheaper price points.

5. Nvidia's current lineup doesn't fit into the requried power and thermal limits Apple aimed to achieve with the new MacBook pro. because they made it so much thinner and cooling performance was reduced, the amount of power / heat that the GPU could output was also lowered. Nvidia's 1060 for mobile doesn't fit into this power requirement.

This is just some of the reasons off the top of my head why AMD is the choice. I'm not justifying it as right or wrong, and I sure think that a slightly thicker, more battery laptop with a much better cooling solution would have been a suitable trade-off for a 1060. But when you look at the current devices, the AMD Choice makes sense

How is this a software issue? Might be hardware related. Gpu going haywaire like Mac Pro 2013 gpu.

Or maybe those mbp are tired of apple's bs.
It maybe a hardware issue that is resolved with a software fix.

Apple apparently believes normal use is reading emails and browsing the web.
If you're watching videos or playing games, you're not using the device correctly.
This is how you get up to 10 hours on a new MBP.
TBH I have friends who say that all they did was browse the web, read articles, send a few emails, and they were LUCKY to get 5 hours on the new one. All of them have said it's nearly impossible to get over 5 hours even with simple tasks. Apple put a smaller battery in the new MBPs. This plus all the new processors (yeah, they say they're more efficient but they're not) makes for awful battery life. Big YouTubers said they can't even get over 5 or 6 hours. It's crazy! MBPs used to be known for their amazing battery life too. Smh.

Have you even attempted to use some of the high powered Windows laptops using the latest GPU chipsets or newer CPUs?

When they are gen 1 releases?

If this is as bad as it gets with bugs for the Macbook Pro, Apple is doing just fine.

I think your post is more about attempting to make the point that Apple laptops are over priced.

Considering ALL of my Mac laptops are still functioning, and I have 11 of them, (back to the 180c!!) I will defend their price to anyone. If these new laptops start lasting as long as the typical Dell or HP I'll jump on your bandwagon.

Yes but do I still want to buy it at the moment for full price? (As upgrade to 2011 13")
Hmm, the 2015 models haven't dropped in price yet? That's a tough decision. I still think they're absolutely worth the money though. Will be a huge leap over the 2011 model.

A little off topic....
But of all the Apple exces who get stage time, i feel Federighi is the most memorable. He has, IMHO, the right combination of technical know-how, sense of humor, geek appeal and presentation skills.

He is also a former NexT guy, something I respect.

It is more important how the problem gets fixed than that the problem gets fixed.

Is the problem really fixed if the fix requires reducing the performance of the GPU so it doesn't get so hot? (Not saying this is the case, but a question to make my point.)

"I hope that you enjoy your new MacBook Pro — it’s a fantastic machine!"

The condescending arrogance from this company towards it's customers is, dare I say...courageous? (I know, it's getting old but the phrase it 'just works')

I don't think condescending means what you think it means. I also don't think arrogance means what you think it means.

The one time i had the issue the GPU was not at all hot (because it wasn't even being used). The CPU was "hot," though.
