Despite all this, I am still interesting in the new machine, except the part where I have to carry adapters for just about everything.

if the way they "fixed" my iMac 2015 graphics drivers is any indication... I hope you all kept your invoices for a refund.

It's more profitable to let consumers do the QA than hiring a dedicated QA team at Apple. Good job Tim Crook.

That's the reason why they have official beta versions available through the app store. But you will never know how good the customers will testing it or even report a bug at all in a useful manner. If i would drive such a company i wouldn't rely on that and push the internal QA testing - something Apple is really lacking.

Imagine if Apple would need to support various configurations as Windows does... it would be a hell for customers because it is already full of issues even if Apple is selling only a few configurations.

A little off topic....
But of all the Apple exces who get stage time, i feel Federighi is the most memorable. He has, IMHO, the right combination of technical know-how, sense of humor, geek appeal and presentation skills.

He is also a former NexT guy, something I respect.

I'm not 100% sold on him, But from all the Cabal of leaders currently at Apple, He seems to be the one guy who seems genuinely interested in the tech. Almost like it's a love and passion for him.

Whenever I hear Ive speak, it's like he's committing verbal masturbation about how great a designer he is and how he's single handedly responsible for Apples fortune. The worst is when he talks about design and doesn't say anything of substance but just spits out verbal diarrhoea of buzzwords.

Cook never seems genuine. He constantly repeats the same "amazing" and "magical" and "Best is yet to come" and hasn't truly delivered on any of his bold claims about "pipelines". he comes across as insincere and his actions speak more to his money side and not leadership.

whenever Schiller talks, It's always sounding like Marketing speak, or marketing damage control. again, nothing he says feels genuine. Everything he says is calculated to upsell everything. Full of Hyperbole and insincerity.

Ahrendts - doesn't get to talk much, But under her, Apple's stores and marketting around them has dramatically shifted to try and make apple appear to be boutique and upscale. Attempting to prove Apple as an exotic brand. Which really doesn't mesh well with the fact they're selling consumer technology to the masses. Since she's taken over, I've never seen the local Apple stores as vacant. The days of lineups and large crowds are behind since the changes. And the newest attempt to make apple stores into "Meeting places" seems like a move nobody wants.

Hate to bring up the ghost of Jobs again, cause it's been beaten to death. But at this point, it just feels like the "kids" have been left to play with daddy's fortune. But don't actually have that link with the population they're supposed to be serving to. they've become so full of themselves due to their history that they don't believe they can be humbled.

"Hi,
Thanks for your note! We believe we have addressed all of these graphics issues in the latest beta of Sierra 10.12.2 (available at beta.apple.com).
I hope that you enjoy your new MacBook Pro -- it's a fantastic machine!

I'd suspect no one suffering this with a new MBP is enjoying it.

How far beyond its customers as guinea pigs does Apple's Q&A extend?

I have a fully maxed 15" with the latest OS beta and I have had zero video (or other) issues.

I had zero issues for 7 days, then got 5 glitches in 1 day, but since then i havent seen it again after i did a couple of things, but still not sure if it will come back, dont trust the computer anymore.. which is bad for a pro machine

The thing is, for all of us here there are no other options. I just bought an HP Envy for a business client who needed a PC for testing, and well, it's no Mac...but it's an i7 for $650.

Sure it sucks, but it's not a $1500 delta worth of suck. And hey, it has a touchscreen. Would I use it? No. But over time my needs have gotten simpler.

I don't blame you. I had a 2008 17" with the dreaded nVidia GPU that died on my 4 times, then another 2011 17" which died on my 3 times, also the GPU. I've only been using this machine for about 4 days now, but touch wood no issues yet.

I've flashed a crap ton of video cards and in my experience those MBP issues are all hardware based. Assuming of course that they didn't fark up the firmware by clocking the GPU too high. As my WAG, the most likely cause is assembly with misapplied thermal interface material.

Not saying it's impossible for the issues to be software-based, and maybe someone with more expertise can correct me on this.

Good timing! I had similar issues with my 15" Touchbar MacBook Pro and as it was a custom build my Apple Store replaced it with a higher-spec standard config. Maybe there were other issues , too, but if this was the only one and they're just now starting to say it might be software and not hardware, I may have lucked out with a better replacement model.

El oh el. "May be fixed".

I feel a little bad for anyone suckered into buying one of these but as they say "A fool and their money....."

It maybe a hardware issue that is resolved with a software fix.

Sounds reasonable. Remember how Apple switches CPU cores off because they can't manage the heat in their thin iMac and MacBooks? Even the Mac Pro 2013 is throttling power down if you use all CPU and GPU cores. It is like a car that drives only 100 MpH but is advertised with 300 MpH maximum speed. The integrated graphics that Apple is using now in their MacBooks is far away from the performance of dedicated graphics chips - not really state-of-the-art technology which claims the word "Professional'.

If they prove this fault to be with the software, then yet again we will have something that's totally made in house by Apple themselves with no other involvement and they still can't get it right. Like blowing people's speakers up...
It surely is one sorry excuse of a software company that's for sure.... iOS now Mac OS.. must be far far far too busy working on those watch bands.

So a problem with FileVault eh..

So no one in Apple thought about testing their software before releasing??
Encryption decryption issue??

This is horrible...mess after mess.

Until peak technology is reached you are all guinea pigs. Thanks for taking part.

Craig Federighi allegedly said he believes the problems have been resolved in the latest macOS Sierra 10.12.2 beta released on Monday.

Sure, pull the other one. I'm writing this on a 2011 MBP, which has gone through 6 logic board changes and every time Apple has assured me "the problem has been fixed". The latest change was made a little over a year ago and the GPU has been showing random cr*p on the screen for a couple weeks again. This time they won't fix it anymore.

So, Craig, pull the other one. I'm not buying another Apple laptop.

I think Macrumours ("users") are a bit over the top nowadays.. it was better a couple of years ago when it was more just highly charged passive aggressive outbursts..

Its more pure disdain nowadays.

I think they will have to take some Pros back.. its strange if its a software issue. Looks lik a typical hardware fault..
