It would be nice to be able to sort out the truth from the hysteria. Unfortunately with the internet and social media and the rush the put stuff online to generate clicks that's damn near impossible.

This whole thing is a fantastic example of mass hysteria.

It's absolutely ridiculous. Ludicrous. The amount of people I've seen comments from online, from both journalists and comments from the public, saying that "Apple is on a downward spiral", "this is terrible that they're not commenting on such a bad flaw in their product", etc. is just insane.

I'm all for being balanced and fair to all technology companies. I respect Apple and it's products because I have found them to be very good.

However, I must say, what is it with Apple hate lately? It's like a disease. Why do the press feel the need to fabricate articles over unsubstantiated flaws in Apple products?

It needs to stop.

How else are they [news sites, tech blogs, etc] going to generate income from clicks? How else will someone be part of the group if they don't share the latest and greatest Apple is doomed story? It's a new fad!

The thing is...I've seen A LOT MORE of screen issues (spots, pixels) but NOBODY in the press says ANYTHING.

So what are we expecting Tim and company to say; “The iPhone 6 plus bends so bad just return them and buy another phone.”? Of course he is not going to make a big deal about it.

Yeah, it really seems to be a huge issue with 9 complaints

(disclaimer, since it's you again: I am not an Apple fanboy who excuses everything, I'm just applying common sense)

Apple has commented on the ongoing complaints about the iPhone 6 Plus bending in user pockets, telling CNBC that the new iPhones include steel/titanium inserts to reinforce stress locations and that they use the "strongest glass in the industry."

The company went on to say that only nine customers had complained about bent iPhones, suggesting the issue is not as widespread as it has appeared in the media. It also stated that both the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus have met or exceeded testing for strength and durability, and that bending in the iPhone 6 Plus during normal use is "extremely rare."

Reports of the iPhone 6 Plus's weakness to bending first began trickling in on Monday, after several MacRumors forum members shared images of devices that had bent while in a pocket. The bending issue went viral after a YouTuber posted a video of the iPhone 6 Plus warping out of shape when bent in his hands, which caused significant damage near the device's volume buttons.

Given the media attention the bending received, it was difficult to tell how many users were truly affected by iPhone 6 Plus bending during real world usage. Though Apple kept quiet on the issue until today, the company has been directing its support staff to replace affected phones under warranty following a visual inspection.

The ones doing this are android users, trying to make Apple and IPhone a bad name.

I wear skinny jeans and my pockets are pretty short (i'm 5'7") and have had my 6+ in my pockets when not in use since last friday morning, no issues yet. Havent put it in my back pocket and sat on it though so i cant comment on that.

Do you realize that there would be at least 50% less posts if people did not have to respond to fanboys attempting to defend Apple by redefining what normal usage means?

Well, the phone has been out for only few weeks now, and most people probably use new shiny toys with silk gloves for a while and after that the real, more normal, usage begins. I think it's too early to say how widespread the issue is.

Thats easy, apple is very popular and it will generate a **** load of hits.

Is it only me? I know apple fanboys will still get what they want.
But, I want my iPhone to be more durable and have BETTER battery though it's slightly thicker. I'm tired of thickness war...
I wish apple made iPhone 6, 6+ and 6 with larger battery though it's as thick as 5.

A solution to this whole "bend-gate": Common Sense! Don't put your phone in your overly tight jeans pocket!! To me, it's like people are blaming Apple for their own stupidity.
