Is that the only thing you read? He had a list of features (or lack thereof) read it again.

Most of the ios5 features is already in the jb community...nothing groundbreaking...except Siri

Siri is a marketing gimmick....try to talk when there's background noise around you...I bet it worked half the time

so i must be a big hypocrite since im the op and im actually going to buy this phone

Still thinking this is a bad dream, we wake up tomorrow, to an e-mail that says "Oh yeah, one more thing..." and the iPhone5 is coming instead.

But then I woke up, and realized Apple is a business to make money, and lots of it. They love iSheep, and koolaid drinkers. This takes balls of steel for Apple to re-release the iPhone4 as the 4S and call it new.

Innovation :(

I was trying to decide whether or not I should get my home button repaired on my iP4. Guess Apple decided for me. I am fixing my iP4 and waiting to see what they bring next.

Don't get me wrong, the 4S seems great, but not enough to upgrade. Maybe by the time the iPhone5 comes out, Android will be even better. Probably.

no other way around it

no 4g and same old boring design

hello samsung

You're right with the iLame 4S! Same old Apple, same old crap!

I'm not ashamed to say that I own a Galaxy S II and even though it has issues with overheating due to them using a plastic back cover instead of a metal one like the HTC HD2, it can be fixed either by rooting the phone to install a custom ROM to fix the issues or buy a custom metal back cover on eBay which should fix the problem if you're not willing to root or are scared to do so.

When I first saw the Galaxy S II a few months back, I knew that I wanted this phone BAD and I was willing to wait until I could get an upgrade to it. Even though I had to upgrade to a 24-month contract and haggle quite a bit to get the phone for free with Vodafone UK, I have no regrets with getting a REAL phone unlike Apple's so called smartphone which is already out of date for the most part, except in certain areas!

They are all spec nerds who are the target audience of android devices.

I don't even know how they ended up in the apple system unless android just sucks that much that they can not even appease their target audience.

Apple certainly will not lose any sleep over them, they know what they are doing and they know who buys their devices and why and this keynote squarely targets those people and those needs.

I'd rather be a spec nerd who buys a phone based on specs than a piece of crap phone that only sells well because of its brand name as well! The only innovative thing about it is the increased storage to 64GB max and that's about it!

Apple "blew it"? I doubt that...same bellyaching I heard when the 3GS was released...yet it still flew off the shelves...hopefully I can just walk up and get one without a hassle since there should be no fanboy parade

This!

This iteration of the iPhone and the whole 'S' cycle makes sense to me. Most people are tied to a 2 year contract, so users don't have to trade in every year for the new model. It's not intended for those already with iPhone 4 it's for those on 3GS contracts.

It only makes sense if we were in 2007 and Apple was the only company making smartphones. Apple is clearly operating in a vacuum and is oblivious to the rest of the world. They should be ashamed to bring this warmed over iPhone 4 to market, after 15 months, with all the advances the competition has made in recent years. (and no, I'm not talking about iOS5 - I'm talking about hardware). Apple is well on it's way to again becoming a niche market for geeks.

It was NOT Apple that blew it!

It was the idiots here that made fools of themselves. Just go back and read some of the threads for the last weeks. Some of you need to change your user name and put a bag over your head!

As a die hard, yet outspoken Apple enthusiast. I was hoping for the best.

I must say I'm still stunned by the mediocrity of the entire proceedings.

Rooting and willing Tim Cook all the best, it's Apple who let him down.

Sadly, the man had the deck stacked against him.

I am ever so disappointed.

And I'm not referring to any particular aspect or product, but rather Apples failure to give him anything of significance to work with.

Jobs is a rats ass for allowing that to happen.

I just can't believe it took them 16 months to come up with this. We all assume apple is up to the most grand plan, not sure why so much credit is given as to some insanely crazy idea. Then this.

Actually I hope apple returns to the niche market for geeks.

Maybe Final Cut X will get fixed then.

I almost ripped off the apple sticker on the back of my car when I heard they were bigger than exxon.

What I don't understand is, they took 16 months to create what is essentially made out of the parts bin of an iPhone 4 and an iPad 2.

The only new hardware is the Antenna (which they had to do, thanks to Antennagate) and the Camera.

Even so, I'm still buying one  SIM Free from Apple so when the iPhone5 comes out, I'll be due an upgrade on my 24 month iPhone4 contract!

EDIT - reading all the pages, seems I'm repeating what others said... :S

"The real fact is this is a very nice upgrade."

Duh! Are you serious?

I pick up my Sammy GS2 this AM. Am I happy about that? Not entirely.

I'm heavily vested in Apple hardware and I've gotten used to having it all work together simply and reliably. I hate to lose that and start a new learning curve that I'd just as soon skip. However, I am not buying something that is obsolete before it ever becomes available. A bunch of over paid, over hyped Apple executives stood on stage and tried to convince the world that this is a leading edge device. It is not. You lie!!

I hope that an acceptable tablet is available when I'm ready for new one and I wish (but know better) that Microsoft would actually release an acceptable operating system so I could trash these Macs. I don't take well to being manipulated and lied to. You slippery jackass executives deserve to go. Why couldn't you just put out a press release saying we have nothing to offer at this time? 'Cause you do not.

Well, boring as batpoo as we'd say in aust, and talking about it with friends and clients today, and the general theme is that it;s just a bit of a joke really

I'm not a mac spammer marketing user, nor am I a samsung or Android one

I expected something exciting today, having multiple mac devices in the house now, imacs, apple TV, several iphones (2x3GS and 4) and an ipod touch

So today was meant to be exciting.
Massive letdown. Learning .lua for corona programming / coding and the only reason I will keep my 3GS is for this reason, but I will be off to look at the 3GS and maybe another brand tomorrow as I've held out with my 3GS for too long now for this

It's obviously because the 5 is not ready, or they are deliberately launching this now to ramp up sales, prior to a 5 release, t then ramp up more sales.

But I don't care now, I love the mac world I choose to live in, but just a bit over the "dominate the world mentality" Apple has adopted. Enjoyed it a lot more when they were the impressive underdog but now they seem a lot more like the Microsoft of yesteryear and today is just a massive disappointment

I can dev apps for both ios and android with corona, so this was the catalyst for me, but each to their own

so you're all saying if they had changed the shape of the phone then you'd be happy - thats silly. they changed all of the internals - fixed the antenna - added a voice control system that is un-paralled. the only thing they didn't do was put in a 4 g chip. which provides horrible battery life and increases the size of the phone. friends who have the galaxy phone are complaining about the battery life

I almost ripped off the apple sticker on the back of my car when I heard they were bigger than exxon.

I scraped mine off a few months ago for much the same reason. I was in Love with Apple Computer, Inc.

Now I can hardly recognize who Apple Inc. is and I despise what they have become. Apple has come full circle and I consider them worse than Microsoft ever was.

Did you even watch the keynote? I bet you didn't...

Lets see:
-Browsing on par with 4G speeds from a 3G phone.
-Amazing power and great battery life.
-Siri is honestly cool (which is funny because I thought I'd never use it).
-New and improved camera.
-New iOS

How is that not a good improvement? How did Apple blow it? I hope you realize technology doesn't evolve as fast as Macrumors readers think it does.

People expect too much. If you want something amazingly better go invent it.

“Great” battery life?? I must have missed something.

You say you have a SGS2. What is "innovative" in it that is not in any other phone?
