I wonder if anyone got approved with a score of 550-650 and how much interest and balance. Mine dropped below 650 due to a car loan is signed with someone.

Was denied with a 694 Transunion score. The reason: recently past due. Yeah, back in 2014! Been current with everything over the last few years. Paid off a car -- no late payments; paid off a $45k loan - no past due payments. When I called GoldmanSachs, they told me to call Transunion for details as to why. It wasn't Transunion's decision - it was GoldmanSachs' decision. They give it to someone with a lower score than me which is stupid.

I don’t know if it’s the same in the US as it is in the U.K. but ‘bad’ things stay on your credit reports for up to six years (longer in some circumstances).

Plus the scores we see from the various credit agencies don’t have as much of an impact compared to yourselves as each lender uses their own ‘scores’ and what’s on our credit files to determine if we’re good for lines of credit or not.

With my AMEX, I get triple points on a category of product, so for me, I choose TECHNOLOGY and get 3x points on purchases from major companies like Dell, Apple, Newegg, etc. Since I buy a lot of hardware throughout the year I accumlulate points rapidly. I also get free extended warranties on everything I buy. Plus excellent customer service if I need it.

The points paid for 3 RT flights to Hawaii this year, and a rental car.

Also, isn't 2% just on ApplePay purchases and 1% on everything else?
Yes, for everything I buy that is non-Apple Pay I will just use my chase card that gets 1.5% on everything. I've never used a card with points so I don't have a good feel for how those work. Clearly working well in your situation lol

My score is horrible, in the 400's and I will not be getting one any time soon but it is amusing reading all the excitement others get with a Credit Card. It's like Christmas in August for most of these cardholders! I wonder if they are going to offer a Secured version??

I'd like to thank all those people on Twitter that are posting pictures of their new CC with their actual names. While it doesn't show the CC number, it does show that it is a mastercard and their name. It's just asking for fraud and identity theft. What idiots.

Considering that most social media platforms contains peoples first and last name as their handle - mine does - this is a nonissue.

The risk of fraud and identity theft is greater with people who don’t use a shredder with cross security shredding.

Well, I know now that you have a mastercard through goldman sachs and your name is 'nilay patel' (not you really but the first twitter picture from the article). That gives me a ton of info. All I need from that is a little bit of time with google and I have what I need.

Now that you say that I know Tim Cooks name, and he has a MasterCard through Goldman Sachs. There is tons of information online about him. I’m sure he has an Amex Black Card too.

All that info and ur defeated when the rep asks for telephone pin verification and last 4 of social.

This ain’t 1856 - times have gotten a little more complicated.

Meh, the interest rate on my credit union card is 9.9%. I think I'll stick with that.

Yeah I did a rethink and seeing others with 200pts above my own (I’m not in the USA so not eligible yet) and getting high credit yet with extreme interest rates I’m thinking wait a minute the no fees hail from Apple ends up in the one interest rate!

Except with all of the Data breaches that have happened lately people have all your info now. And in the past couple of years there have folks that have had their cellphone number stolen via ID theft.

So what do you think happens when the thief has your cellphone # and social?

You both have excellent credit scores, anything over 750 is considered top tier anywhere else.....curious why you are not approved at 12.99% interest and what it would take to be at or around that 12.99%?

I was posting the same question, I saw a few in the upper 700's getting $10k+ and 12.99%

If this were the case, your score will drop or has already.

Just how mine did.

Just because you say something doesn’t make it true. You don’t need to borrow a lot to have a high credit score. The only requirements for a high score are a long credit history, no missed payments or collections, low credit utilization, minimal hard pulls and a good mix of credit types. That’s it. None of that requires large amounts of borrowing.

2 pennies for every dollar you spend you feel is solid? And that's not everywhere...that's just places that take ApplePay.

Not so solid to me.

For a no annual fee card - yeah it’s pretty solid. No rotating categories. Don’t need to track where you spend in order to have ur purchase qualify for quarterly bonus.

Everyone does their own individual setup. This card can be useful to any consumer - thin or thick filed. Well heeled or just starting out. It may be a niche card for specific purchase or an every day Apple pay purchase card. So long as it meets that persons setup and it’s optimized for their wallet.

Are there better options? Yes of course. For swipe purchases the citi double cash comes to mind. But you have to consider - someone may not have been approved for the Citi Card. So this Apple Card may fit in nicely for a consumer who has difficult being approved by other lenders. As their credit grows they may move on to better cards.

But to suggest this card sucks (those weren’t your exact words - but the sentiment being conveyed), is a reckless blanket statement that fails to consider unique financial portfolios and individual situations. The Amex Platinum is a great card - but if your not a frequent traveler ur wasting money - same for the CSR. So does that mean not having either of those amazing cards is foolish?

TLDR: optimize your cards for your wallet and your spend. No one knows your financial goals like you do.

The Apple Card is basically just a Goldman Sachs credit card with an iOS-only app. And Apple get all your financial information for free. Revolutionary.

Hmm. Since I have iCloud Drive fees, iTunes, and making purchases in the stores Apple has had bits of my financial information like any grocery store or AirMiles points card or retailer for free since I’ve begun earning my own money at 14!

Your insight is revolutionary.

Why all this FUD when this company has proven financial security using the enclave, to the point that Samsung Pay and Google Pay have followed suit. You’re not stating anything that other retailers or financial institutions already have and done in getting your financial information by way of direct business with you validly & legally.

I’ll worry when:
What I purchase affects my rates for health medications (if drinking or smoking weed ~ fully legal in Canada in any province) affects if I have to pay full price!

When I have signed and voluntarily provided my consent to donate an organ (alive) is rejected and I Pay a fine/few based on health or eating habits. If my next of kin in death is sued because an organ I’ve pre-signed in my death has been transplanted and caused issues to the recipient based on my purchase history or consumption of or lack of consumption. Of specific nutrients foods alcohol (which is very limited for me).

When I denied blood transfusion or blood due to an illness (not even a disease) found from my purchase history of medication.

^ THIS are things to be feared.

Almost the same story as me. 727 was the score they showed on my denial. I did find some late payments in my history on a credit account that I paid off in full and closed. My fault, I don't remember the circumstances but for some reason I did a "then I won't pay you anything, that'll show you" kind of thing when they wouldn't help me with a customer service issue but, yeah, was a few years ago and the account is closed. I could probably call up that creditor and see if they would get rid of those late payment reports in good faith since I've since paid it off since then.

It’s amusing to watch how much a credit card that lacks all kinds of benefits is getting. The design is cool and all but I’m not a fan of metal cards. They add a bunch of extra weight, don’t last that long because the adhesive eventually comes off, can’t easily destroy them (you typically send them back for this) etc.

I wouldn’t quite say it lacks all kinds of benefits. It just may not have the kinds of benefits that your looking for.

For me - replacing my phone yearly alone makes this a no brainer - plus all of my other Apple purchases, this card will get a nice workout in the Apple store.
The 2% is a nice touch - but my wife and I run a player 1 player 2 setup with Amex and Chase.

As a first card or even an additional card - it’s a long term keeper. The no annual fee puts it right into that category.

Yes I know how credit scores work. And like I said already.. and I know from being in the 800 club already that you borrow a ton/ it’s pretty cut and dry
[doublepost=1565376396][/doublepost]

Sure it is. And I didn’t say credit I said credit score.
I became a member of the 800 club with *only* a mortgage - no other debts except balances on my CC which I almost always pay off in full when payment is due.
