I also received 6% for my MBP order. FWIW, I ordered the 16” w/ 1TB config and also used EDU discount.

Based on what I’m seeing in this thread, they must be playing Spin the Bottle to see who gets the additional 3% cash back.

So when you click "here," it takes you to the second photo. Second bullet would apply to us.
Does this help? Or have I given you what you already know lol?
MANY thanks! That hopefully explains we can.

Though the use of "you might be able to" is ambiguous again – I presume they mean older Mac owners might be able to, while new ones will be able to?

Very weirdly, the UK version of the page omits the click "here" sentence!

However, there still is a UK version of the support page they fail to link to:
https://support.apple.com/en-gb/HT210580

BUT, It has an error on it though...

- It says "In Australia, Canada, Germany, Japan, the United Kingdom and the United States"
- Then the second bullet says "In the United States, [...]".

...which is it Apple: just the US or all 6 countries? I'm going with all 6, given the US version omits the error!
But then the US version lists 9 countries...so...??

At a guess, perhaps/maybe they just haven't gotten around to update their non-US pages yet:
US: "Published Date: October 19, 2021"
UK/AU: "Published Date: July 28, 2021"

Did you pay upfront? Or the installments?

You're very welcome. My guess as to the reason they use "might" is for the Macs that are not in proper working condition. Say you're within the 30 days after your coverage ends and you drop your Mac, you're technically still able to renew. I'm guessing it's just to cover their ass.
That is odd the "click here" link is missing from the UK page. The UK has super strong consumer protection laws, right? Maybe that has something to do with it; idk what that thing would be, but maybe.

Yes, I'm likely still going to contact Apple again to re-check this though. Given the errors/differences between the US and non-US versions of the same support page (with both versions of the page still talking about non-US customers?!), I want clarification and certainty.

Thanks Apple for wasting our time having to get such info. :-/

I called apple card to make sure my brand new apple card was linked to my account so I went ahead and asked the guy about the 6 percent cash back and he had absolutely NO clue what I was talking about and said they are only offering 3 percent cash back

Is there a way to check cash back eligibility on the checkout sheet?

I was originally going to order from B&H because their (ridiculously named) Payboo card gives you a full rebate on sales tax, but if Apple Card is going to offer 6%, that's basically the same amount.
In the same boat. Problem is, since I only use for online purchases, not sure where the physical card is, and B&H now requiring me to type in the whole card number. Was able to get that from customer service, but not the CVV code, so it's back to scrounging for the card. But if Apple Card give 6%, I'd go for it. Wish I could tell before actually purchasing.

I just got the Apple Card this past week and bought a Mini and folio and only got 3% as well

Bought a magic keyboard for my ipad pro today at 3pm CDT and didn't receive 6%, only 3%. Called Apple Card to find out about the 6% and they told me that they only offer 3%, so I dunno.

I signed up for the card when pre-ordering the new MBP on Monday and only got 3% back on the order.

I chatted with Goldman Sach and also talked to Apple earlier and they said this is a rumor and not true. I purchased a $4,000 MacBook Pro and only got 3% cash back.

I wouldn't share fake news that's not true.

So I wonder when I chatted with Apple they said the 6% is a rumor and not true? I also got a new MacBook Pro 14" 4TB config custom not sure if it makes any difference. I called Apple today and they said I got the only 3%. I also got the EDU discount. My guess is it's a bug as why would they offer it for some and not others? I paid a ton of money too and all up front.

I did an online chat with Apple Card rep. I only saw 3% from my purchase this morning.(MBP 16)

The rep kept insisting that it was only 3%. I then forwarded her the link to this thread. She told me to wait while she checked. She came back and still said it was definitely still only 3%. I asked her how other people were getting 6% and she basically told me that it was either a mistake or for "select" people. Going to contact them again later until I get a satisfactory answer about why I'm only getting 3%. :(

That just sounds like a CYA response and that nobody really knows what’s going on. ?‍♂️ Guess we wait for Apple to either
  • Tell us what qualifies for the 6% - price alone clearly doesn’t seem to matter; milanese loop and some 16” MBP get 6%, my 14” MBP got 3%
  • Make it 6% for all, correcting an accidental partial early roll out of a holiday promotion maybe?
  • Make it 3% for all, correcting some sort of back end error

I too did the same thing and they said ”it’s a rumor “ and not true. Please keep us posted and I might try to call or chat again when I get time tomorrow and see if I can get an answer as well.

I messaged them earlier and they said they only know of the March 2021 promotion and that there's no promotion going on for 6% right now.

FYI, I preordered my MBP on announcement day with installments, but it’s still showing as 3% on my Apple Card.
