Gotta be honest, this pre-order process has frustrated me. Two days after my launch-time MBP order my trade-in MBP value went up $80. The only way I can get that new value is to cancel my order (which would deliver 10/26) and do it again, delaying it nearly a month.

Now I’m still seeing 3% on my card while others are seeing 6%. Hoping this is retroactively applied to me too, but if not, it sure feels like I’m being punished for moving quickly.

Oh I’d be super frustrated if my trade-in value went up after the fact and they couldn’t or wouldn’t honor it.

AWESOME I just signed up for the card and was instantly approved..I hope when I purchase the macbook pro I am offered 6 percent cash back

Well, my Apple Wallet has just this morning posted the charges for the extended warranty and the 14" MacBook Pro M1 Max with the 6% cash back detail. It did not do so for the cleaning cloths ordered the day before or other prior devices.

I have had the Apple Card since card since it was first released.

I ordered a 14" on Tuesday using my Apple Pay 12 month no interest
I see 3% in my Wallet

Any one getting 6% and using the financing purchase option?

Ugh, they give this to us, right after everyone pre-ordered maxed out new MBPs. And if we return and re-order would have to wait months.

I hope this is changed retroactively somehow. :(

Just ordered a fully spec'd iPad Mini 6 about an hour ago... it shows the standard 3% cash back on the pending transaction, so about $30. I've had the card since they launched it, and I've already benefited from the first go-round of the 6% offer back then on my 2019 16" MBP.

An additional $30 back on this purchase would be nice, but not going to waste time canceling / returning, especially since no such discount program has been officially announced, so you can't tell until you commit to the order. Usually the 6% has only applied to new cardholders or those who haven't received the bonus discount before.

Now, nothing compares to the Apple Pay + Discover Card 10% cash back + unlimited-double-your-rewards promo that happened a few years ago. That was effectively 20% cash back for new cardholders. Talking about winning on that one. Puts 3% vs 6% in a different perspective.

I've realized you can go through life trying to optimize and get every possible discount, or you can be happy with what you do have, smile, and be grateful that we are fortunate to even afford this stuff in the first place.
Great post! More people, myself included at times, should think like this. Trading anxiety and anger for contentment sounds like a pretty good upgrade ?

…I don’t understand your point. She assumed I was believing inaccurate information because she had no record of a 6% promotion currently being run.
My point is: why do they not know anything about this? And more poignantly, why are they suggesting this is all "made-up" given people have posted pics of the cashback amounts they've received?

What do you see there?
It didn’t say anything before, but now it says 3%. Bummer. I’ll keep an eye on it and maybe it will change, or maybe it was a glitch they fixed. Or maybe it doesn’t work the the education discount.

Oh I am. I've contacted Apple, who sent me to a trade-in partner (in Canada, I learned after calling - I'm in US), who sent me to the US-based trade-in partner, who sent me back to Apple. Ultimately told to either take an Apple store credit or cancel my order and start over. Neither of those are tempting.

With 6% back, I may nudge me to trade-in my 2018 MBP 15" for a new 16".

I was told to wait until it’s posted. I tried to place another order using the ACMI thru Edu portal and it’s showing 3% for that one. Maybe it only applies to purchases made without any discounts?

for the apple card(I was just approved) how do I see it on my apple account I am logged in how would I be able to see it to make sure its connected?
Also, for EDU purchases, can I still get the 6 percent cash back or is that only for regular orders

I assure you I do not know why the agent I spoke with has no idea about the promotion. I wasn’t going to argue anymore with her than I already had. I explained that several people were posting screenshots and she still made her remark about not believing everything I see on the internet. It sounds, though, as if you are questioning that I even had this conversation. If so, why ask card holders to call and get more information if you won’t believe the results of doing so?

I’d at least take the store credit for a future purchase. Personally, I feel it’d better than nothing if they refused to credit my card the difference

No, I meant the Apple agent you spoke to wasn't believable, lol!
When I get a CS agent that doesn't know what the hell they're talking about, I just hang-up and phone again a few minutes later.

Ok, I understand now. Yeah, that is my intention but, frankly, I was pissed about being spoken to like an idiot or a child. Figured I’d give it some time before trying again.
