It may shock you to know there are plenty of people out there who ****ing hate Amazon and will never shop there. Target and Walmart dot coms are just as cheap and available for pickup.

I prefer shopping at my nearby Walmart when they have the item I want.

I find that Walmart usually cost less and I order online for pickup.

I ask myself questions like that anytime I see someone pull an Apple Card out of their wallet to pay for something. Why are they settling for 1% cash back when there are no annual fee cards that give you 2% on everything and others that give 3+% depending on the category?

I get the "I just want to use one card" argument but if that's the case, there are better cards to use (e.g. a 2% on everything card).

You are exactly right.

So, I have to wonder. Are the terminal fees for Apple Cards higher, on average, than other cards?

If so, maybe Amazon doesn't want to accept it for this reason? I had multiple cards on my Amazon account; the Apple Card vanished leaving my other card (a VISA). If there are a lot of other customers like me, this move could save Amazon money if people just decide to not add the card back in.

A shady move for sure, and another reason to move away from Amazon, but it's a possible explanation.

Yeah, I don't get this, the Apple Card is basically just a Mastercard backed by Goldman Sachs. What purpose would Amazon have to block this one card?

The same here; I don't even carry my physical Apple Card. If a store doesn't accept Apple Pay, I'll just use my other card which gives me 1.5% cash back.

Funny you say this too; I only added Apple Card to Amazon to test it! I wanted to make sure paying using the numbers provided in the wallet app worked. It did, but I never bothered to change back to my other card which gives me the 1.5%. I guess Amazon helped me out by making that change for me. :)

No. If anything they’re lower because the CB on Amazon is only 1%.

If it was about interchange fees Amazon would remove Chase Sapphire Reserve-level cards.

This is just a very strange thing for a merchant to do. I don’t think it’s legal given it’s just a MasterCard and MasterCard’s terms say you have to take all MasterCards if you advertise acceptance.

It is likely that either in Amazon’s merchant account for processing payments, in their code, or in their configuration, that someone has removed or blocked the BIN range for all Apple Cards (The 51XX XX portion of the card number).
Either way I doubt that any of us will get an answer as to where it was, but it should hopefully be a simple enough fix.

Why the heck would anyone want to use the Apple Card with Amazon? I understand that some people only want to use one card for everything. However, if you are able, get the Amazon Prime Card to get 5% cash back

I have looked at ApplePay and the Amazon card, but neither have wowed me enough to switch from Amex. Besides, I already get stacks of rewards for shopping at Amazon with Amex.

I've really cut down on my Amazon usage. Amazon need to clear up their store and sellers, the amount of fake or incorrect junk being sold is outrageous. Also the review system is so obviously being rigged.

I've been doing a lot more buying direct from the companies themselves, I'm surprised by how many over similar pricing and extra warranty etc.

Irony. Amazon's store so Amazon's rules. Apple gets to force people to use apples payment system with IAP and iOS app store.

Apple forces you to use their checkout system just like Amazon does. You still get to pick your card of choice.

Sounds like Amazon is about to announce their own Credit Card.

They already have one.

Eh, I get it. My main credit card with great benefits is an AMEX, but some places don't accept AMEX. The physical Apple Card is my backup card. It's one less vector for compromise if my wallet ever got stolen. People downplay the advantage of the numberless card, but it's a very, very valuable aspect of the Apple Card, even if the cash back and rewards aren't Chase Sapphire-level.

Have you tried ReviewMeta.com? They have a plugin that fitters out fake reviews based a whole bunch of factors. Combined with Keepa I almost never have an issue.

I like my Amex too, but if Apple improved their card in a few areas and including an option for a joint card for couples it could sway my wife and I to ditch the Amex Platinum - we've not been doing our regular traveling between the US and Europe so it's usefulness has dropped. Also getting more interested in using Revolut.

Amex is the only card I carry. They have had contactless payment for more than 20 years, and I have never once had an issue with them.

This doesn’t really bother me as I am Canadian and having such a card here doesn’t seem to be high on apple’s priority list.

Understand that point. I am not saying that they should not allow Apple Card to work with it. I am simply saying from the consumer perspective there are better options.
Whether or not better options exist is immaterial. What is material is the option that several people chose is no longer available.
That can't be mitigated by simply stating "ya shoulda got this card".

It's like someone telling you, "Aw man, My LG C Series is down and I really wanted to watch The Bachelor: Featuring Big Brother All Stars on Redemption Island! Ding! Dang! Darn!" Then you come back with, "Duuuuuuuuude, you shoulda got a TCL 6 Series. It's cheaper." [derp] I'm mostly just funnin' ya, but you get the point.

"Better option" is also subjective. There's more to credit cards than just cash back percentage. APR. Annual fees. Total perk package, etc. How does a new card affect your FICO score? Your debt/income ratio? Amazon purchase frequency justify a new card? I could go on. A multitude of factors should be considered before pulling the trigger on a new credit card. Cash back is but one factor.

There are always better options for pretty much everything. What you're missing is the fact that those "better options" aren't always the best option for everyone. Blanket statements rarely cover the entire bed. - Granny Mustang.

My travel has decreased too, so I get that, but I would need them to offer the extended warranty. Also, have you ever called Amex for something? Their customer support is amazing.

Edit: I understand the potential anti trust violations. Of course Amazon should allow the Apple Card to be used. I am simply saying the best from a consumer perspective.

Exactly. Apple Card at Apple to get the 3%. Amazon at Amazon to get the 5%. Target Redcard at Target for 5%. Bank of American Premium Rewards for 2.625% everywhere else. (And then there are some others like Discover and Citi that have specials for things like gas or groceries sometimes).

Obviously it should work anywhere Mastercard does, but there re better options.

Yeah this is a good thing tbh, as a consumer you're simply leaving free money on the table if you aren't using a card with better benefits. Amazon Prime Card gives you 5% back on every purchase, and if you can't get approved for that there's several others which are great: Citi Double Cash is 2%, Capital One Quicksilver is 1.5%, etc. many offer additional cash bonuses as well.

Literally the only place worth using the Apple Card is the Apple Store. Unless you simply don't care to maximize your financial benefits.
Yawn. I get 3% on quite a bit. Amazon is cheap, only 1%. You do realize that you simply won’t get rich on any cash back card? It’s diminimous
