I ask myself questions like that anytime I see someone pull an Apple Card out of their wallet to pay for something. Why are they settling for 1% cash back when there are no annual fee cards that give you 2% on everything and others that give 3+% depending on the category?
This is the financial equivalent to asking "why does anyone buy an iPhone when there are so many cheaper Android phones that do the same thing". The answer is also the same - there are people who value things other than price (or %-back in this case). Even before Apple Card, I was charging most things to one card: not because it had the greatest rebates, but it was just more convenient to pay a single bank than multiple. It was easier to have a card that just paid a fixed percentage rebate, instead of having monthly rotating higher rebates where I have to keep track of what to buy with which card.
Since Apple Card came out, I've stopped using other cards altogether. My purchases show up in my iPhone Wallet instantaneously and I have a complete record of *all* my transactions (other cards I have in my wallet only give a limited history). I can do everything, including disputing charges, talking to customer reps, or even get a new number (if the old one was compromised) all in one place. To me, that's worth 1-2% in extra rebates.

I occasionally use Amazon for the convenience but, in most cases I find that they are not the cheapest option.

I think that if people actually comparison shopped, they would be using Amazon a lot less.
Out of curiosity, any suggestions as to similar alternatives (perhaps beyond separate stores like Walmart/Target/Costco, which certainly work out as alternatives at times, but often enough can be limited in what they offer)?

I spent an hour on the phone with customer support this morning trying to solve this. The person had absolutely no insight or suggestions for what was wrong. They went through their script and wasted my time. Vindicating to know it’s not just me but what a massive headache. Not using Amazon again anytime soon.

My travel has decreased too, so I get that, but I would need them to offer the extended warranty. Also, have you ever called Amex for something? Their customer support is amazing.

Yes thats the primary benefit I would like to see Apple include - even if it was just Apple Care included. Yes Amex support has always been fantastic. Especially in dealing with merchants making charges to my card that I never approved.

Have you tried ReviewMeta.com? They have a plugin that fitters out fake reviews based a whole bunch of factors. Combined with Keepa I almost never have an issue.
Huh, I'll have to check that out, thanks!

Amen. I cancelled my Amazon account for this reason. The whole store has become AliBaba

I use amazon extensively and out of hundreds of orders throughout the years only 1 was actually fake and amazon fixed the issue asap.
You must be looking at the cheapest price possible without paying attention who you are ordering from.

I've found going straight to the manufacturers website is a really good bet. I've had three occasions where the price for big ticket items has been the same while offering extended warranties for free. I just don't trust what Amazon sends me anymore, I'd rather pay a little more and know what I'm buying is the genuine product or the latest version of a product.

I saw this article pop up and out of interest I read it. I didn't even know. Amazon took Apple Card. I tried to apply for Apple Card when it came out just to see if I'd be approved. For whatever reason I was declined, even though I have a good credit history, not late payments et. My only debit is the balance I've been paying off for my iMac I purchased in 2017. Anyway as a test to see if there was something wrong with my credit, I also applied for an amazon prime card, and was instantly approved. So for now, I haven't bothered with Apple Card I just use my existing debit, and credit cards.

Why the heck would anyone want to use the Apple Card with Amazon? I understand that some people only want to use one card for everything. However, if you are able, get the Amazon Prime Card to get 5% cash back.

Edit: I understand the potential anti trust violations. Of course Amazon should allow the Apple Card to be used. I am simply saying the best from a consumer perspective.

Not just antitrust, but usually when a vendor refuses any card for any reason, their contract with the card companies are terminated.

The Amazon Store needs to be doused with gasoline and set on fire. All you find anymore are cheap chinese knockoffs with fake 5-star reviews. Can't trust anything anyone says about products anymore.

In addition to your point, their shipping times for “prime” have gone to hell as well. So many things I buy prime now take as long as a week.

Other places don't accept the Apple Card even though they accept MasterCard in general.

Very true. I've run into this with car rental companies, Enterprise for sure, where somehow the Apple Card comes up not a credit card, or that's what I'm told, and they don't allow its use.

Because they were approved for an Apple Card but not an Amazon Prime Card maybe?

Many similar posts to yours, but this 850 credit score will answer your...simplicity. Having just one bill to pay, that can easily be paid off daily by just opening the app and having a facial scan...simple. Cash added daily to the Apple Cash card. I got my Airpods Pro "free" last December, and just put $486 towards my wifes stainless steel series 6. Using multiple cash cards, getting the reward in numerous ways...it is so easy, (and from an identity theft perspective)-easy to keep track of 1 cards uses. If any of my other cards is charged for anything, something is up. My electric bill, internet, YoutubeTV...everything on Apple Card. I wouldn't have it any other way. The small amount of difference probably adds up to less than my hourly wage managing/paying extra bills and reward redemptions.

Are you giving them the "alternate" last 4 digits # found in the app?

Apple Card owners who had their Apple Cards stored in Amazon as a saved payment option this morning started noticing that the Apple Card has disappeared from the payment list.

amazon_apple_card.jpg

Multiple MacRumors readers have notified us about the problem, and we've also been able to replicate it. Apple Cards are missing from the Amazon website and app and attempting to re-add one pops out an error message that credit card information is unable to be saved.

A Redditor describes the problem:This appears to be a widespread problem and most Apple Card owners are no longer seeing their cards appear in Amazon as a saved payment option. As noted above, one person was told by Amazon's support says that it's an Apple Pay-related issue, but that's inaccurate because Apple Card works like a normal credit card.

Another person was told that the Apple Card is "not allowed on your account," which is curious as the Apple Card is a Mastercard that should be accepted where Mastercard is accepted. A third person was told that the issue was on Apple's end, so it appears that Amazon's support staff has no insight what's going on at this time.

Hopefully it’s a bug

Yeah, it's pretty great. Don't be confused by some of their language. Years ago they tried to replace the word 'fake' with 'unnatural' because their algorithm is really good at picking up strange behaviors. People who haven't used the product, reviews by sellers, reviews that come from social media promotions, reviews that sound similar, and reviews that come from people that give everyone the same number of stars. Those are not necessarily fake reviews, but they are likely to be biased.

It also catches when reviews get deleted or when reviews appear to be for a different product. Also, it highlights the reviews they trust the most and the one they trust the least while also being upfront about why each review was scored the way it was. That way a good, legitimate product review is less likely to get buried.

I just had a huge argument with them over fake products that I keep getting, including the Adidas Boost and even brakes for my car that broke before even putting 10K miles on them.

I spoke to someone at Amazon support. They said there is an issue on their end that required them to pull a block of credit card numbers while they worked to resolve what is going on. They didn't have a timeline on the fix, but said the cards would be added back once it is done.

I was able To pay in full with my Apple card however I wasn’t able to finance it told me try again later.

Because I needed socks. It's the same reason I use the Apple Card anywhere; because it's a credit card.
