Applecare, can be purchased anytime with in one year.
Applecare +, with the phone or due system isues pretty much wright after.
I'll be getting the + for sure.

I just got off the phone with Apple Support. They understand there are problems and you will be able to add AppleCare+ within 30 days of getting your phone. if you ordered but didn't add it or have the opportunity to add it, just sit tight. They know.

If you read the terms and conditions for AppleCare+ it says the following:

"You must purchase the Plan while your original iPhone is within Apple’s One Year Limited warranty. Apple is not obligated to renew this Plan. If Apple does offer a renewal, it will determine the price and terms."

Thank you...exactly what my rep said (from 1800myapple--Alicia)...so they are letting me buy from the store. When I called the store, they just said to try to do it as soon as I can. I'm going to try within a week, but hopefully that first day.

Then they say, you activate it just like AppleCare of any other product.

My problem was that I placed my order online and then when I tried to add it via the phone rep, they could not because they lacked a part number for the exact box.

If anyone calls and tries to add it after the fact, can you let us know if they were able to? I think it may be something they change. If so, I'd like to avoid a trip to the store as well.

Let me know please.

That's awesome...so theyve added a part number. Because when I called on Friday it wasn't yet in their system. I'll call them ASAP and see if I can add mine.

Argh, they aren't open til 7am pacific...I guess I'll have to wait, LOL...one more hour!

Anyone know whether Applecare+ will be available outside the US? I can't seem to find reference to it on the Australian site.

I haven't heard anything...

Try clicking on iphone, and then scroll down...I think on the US site it's on the bottom right.

I spoke with Ivory (apple) I called 1-800-myapple and she told me that apple care+ will be offered in another email that will be sent out to you before the shipping of the Phone, perhaps today. I wanted care+ and she said I can still buy it when the actual order email is sent out for us to fully submit our order. What we got was an order acknowledgment, we still apparently have to push the final order step with the second email. I'll get care+ then.

I can verify this, at least in my case, I did get this email from Apple. I had initially placed my order via the Apple Store app on the iPhone and was not given the opportunity to add AppleCare+ at the time of order. I got this email yesterday:

applestoreinfo@apple.com said:
Dear Apple Customer,

Thank you for your recent iPhone purchase at the Apple Online Store.

We would like to let you know that every iPhone comes with one year of
hardware repair coverage through its limited warranty and up to
90 days of complimentary support. AppleCare+ for iPhone extends your
coverage to two years from the original purchase date of your iPhone
and adds up to two incidents of accidental damage coverage, each
subject to a $49 service fee.

We noticed you weren’t given the opportunity to add AppleCare+ to your
iPhone. If you would like to extend your coverage for only $99, please
reply to this email.

Thank you for shopping with Apple.

Sincerely,
Apple Online Store Team

I replied to the email and they added AppleCare+ to my order!

Well that sucks...

I don't know. I'm waiting on 9am to call up Apple on the phone. Perhaps you could do the same and give them an ask?

Hmmm....doesn't reference it, and the T&C's link is broken.

This one works AppleCare+ link: http://images.apple.com/legal/applecare/docs/AppleCarePlus.pdf

There is an interesting section in the T&C that we have been discussing:

(x) You must purchase the Plan while your original iPhone is within Apple’s One Year Limited warranty. Apple is not obligated to renew this Plan. If Apple does offer a renewal, it will determine the price and terms. this would override what is posted on the web page.

This is what is listed on my receipt but I still am going to call at 9am CST to see if I can get it added on. Problem when I called on Friday was they didn't have a part number. They advised me to go into the store--which I called. They said they will have the boxes but not until launch day and to try to come in that day. I was like argh! it's gonna be a mad house but would brave it since it was just the AC+ boxes and not the phone I needed. But, since the nearest Apple Retail Store is an hour away, I am hoping that Apple call center has the part number available now and can just add it to my order. Save me time, stress and gas money.

Just got off the phone with 1-800-my-apple and they were able to add the AppleCare + to both of my iPhone 4s orders. Yay!

They said they will be sending a physical box in the mail but they do not yet know if it will be shipped in the same box or a different box.

She said just register it as soon as it gets there, and I'll be good to go. She also added notes to both of my web orders to make sure that if there are any problems, it is noted in there that I did call and purchase the AC+ before the phones ever arrived.

I'm so stoked! Seems like (from her reaction) that this has been happening and she knew that earlier they didn't have the part number in their system but now do...

Awesome! Don't have to go to the ARS on launch day, LOL.

I ordered from Verizon on Friday and I just spoke with a customer service rep from the Apple sales department. They told me to go into the apple store with y phone within the first week of receiving it to purchase apple care +. At this time he wasn't able to sell it over the phone. He said this also may change during the week as they receive more info. I'll probably call again wed or thurs to check before I venture to the store with the crowds. At least there is an apple store 5 minutes from my house. I can taunt the people waiting in line for a phone with my iphone 4s... Hahahaha

Hmm...may want to call back again. I just called at 9am cst and got it added. Confirmed on my apple order status page.

I received that email saturday afternoon, and I replied with a yes, and I went to check the status of my order this morning and AC+ was added to my order.

I ordered two phones, one each on separate orders (due to differing shipping addresses). Got the email for one of the orders but not the other. Odd. Guess I'll have to call.

Thanks for the info! I just called and the guy said that I would have to go into the store when I get my iPhone to buy the applecare+. I told him that I read they are now able to add it to the order. He put me on hold and then transferred me to a customer service rep. After a few minutes on hold, she spoke to a manager and was able to add it. My order now shows it and my card was charged for it.

Awesome, I'm glad I could help. I didn't want to have to fight the crowds either.

Thank you for your response. We have added AppleCare+ for iPhone to the order you placed through Apple. For the order you have placed with your carrier, please contact them to discuss what options that they have available.

Sincerely,
