I just sent an e-mail to applestoreinfo@apple.com stating that I did not get offered AppleCare+ (I didn't receive an e-mail asking if I would like it added either) and that I would like it added to my order, and in less than 45 minutes it was added. So if you are having issues calling in and getting it added, give the e-mail address a try.

Thank-you kindly!

I did the same, and within a minute it showed up as "processing" so I assume it'll be fine. I was hesitant to spend the money on this at first. That was until yesterday when my 3GS got ripped out from its car mount. Said person also dropped her own phone on the driveway a few minutes later. So while *I'm* careful, who knows about other people! ;)

Is anyone who added AppleCare+ after the fact, still showing processing for appplecare order status? Mine has been like that for over 24 hours.

This has been bothering me. I'm an AT&T customer and the prior posts about our options for AppleCare+ sounded grim at worst and uncertain at best, so I ended up just buying the SquareTrade warranty. It's the same price as AppleCare+, and I could buy it online in 30 seconds and can now open the phone up when I receive it without having to worry about whether I can get it covered.

Worked like a charm for me as well. Still "processing", but at least it's on the system - and I won't have to drive 3 hours to get what's really a non-physical item from the Apple Store....

I agree. I think Apple did an excellent job here of fixing this -- simple e-mail and it showed up in my order.

Knowing that Apple is offering this new warranty I would have called them before doing anything with Square Trade. It's not a knock against ST, but that Apple is just a phone call away. Seems lazy not to even try.

Anyone with Apple Order #'s who needs to still purchase AppleCare+ should follow this advice and e-mail applestoreinfo@apple.com with your order #'s with the request to add AppleCare+ to your order.

Thanks! I sent an email this am and within minutes Applecare + was added to my order. I did not receive an email back, but thats okay.

Tried this method as well, but I had ordered though att not apple. Got back this email to which i responded about it being an unhelpful response and that ATT told me to conact Apple through which it would be available.

Don,

You will need to check with the carrier to see what options for coverage are available to you.

Sincerely,

Rachel
Apple Inc.

You will have to head into the store on the 14th.

Seems that they do not have a part number just yet for the AppleCare+ until the 14th. I will, however, be checking the apple website to see if I can purchase it without going into the store - but I think this is highly unlikely.

I replied to the email and got charged as well. I'm just glad the additional order did not screw up my oct 14th delivery for my iPhone, since Apple usually likes to ship everything at once.

In case it helps, my order with Apple shows AppleCare+ as part number S4575LL/A. I added it to my cart when preordering on Apple.com (AT&T)

I bought through ATT and was never offered AppleCare+

I emailed applestoreinfo and they replied that it had to be purchased with phone. When I said I bought through ATT and not Apple, they said I had to talk with ATT.

Does anyone know if ATT is selling AppleCare+?

I called AT&T Premier yesterday to try and add it to my order. She sounded very unsure and said I needed to go to a store to add it.

I'm not going to be happy if I can't add it later on....

From all the people I have spoken to - you will be able to.

Unfortunately, majority of the responses were that you need to bring the phone, unopened, to the Apple Store.

Going to be very difficult to have phone in hand and drive a couple hours to a store...

Can you add it at an AT&T store? I don't have an Apple store anywhere close to me....

Not sure about ATT. Sprint said absolutely not. They recommended I cancel my order then re-order with AppleCare+. I told them, absolutely not.

I wasn't going to post this, but I will anyway. I talked to a few supervisors at both apple and att. They both told me that Att would be selling physical boxes of applecare+ in the store on launch day. I didn't lead them to an answer in any way, I just asked what I was supposed to do since I couldn't add ac+ to my att order.

There isn't an Apple store anywhere near me, I'd have to drive 3hrs one way. There's NO way I can do that on launch day and I'll be without a phone from Tuesday until I get the new one. Sooo... If for some reason I cannot get Applecare+ in the Att store like they said, then I'm just going to have to reorder through Apple, I guess. And wait... Which is SO freaking stupid. I won't forget this bungled mess for a very long time, and I may just have to go back to my idea of never buying another Apple product-- at least until we get a proper store.

This is so weird..

I just called AT&T Premier again and explained the issue. She said once I get the phone I can call either them or Apple to add Applecare+. I asked if she was SURE, she said yes, no problem!

So I called apple, and asked the same thing. He confirmed that I can call Apple or At&t to add it once I get my phone. I explained my concern that the web site says I need to order it at the time of purchase, he said I have 90 DAYS to get it after purchase. I asked if that was for APPLECARE+, or just APPLECARE. He said APPLECARE+....

Who the hell knows whats going on..

Keep in mind though, I called about this stuff yesterday. They may well have changed the policy even in the last 24 hours. In any case, it appears that it won't be nearly the problem people have been anticipating.

ME: Siri... please locate nearest AT&T rep and quickest route so I can slap them silly for their confusion, then the nearest Apple Store for the same.

SIRI: Searching... I have found both within the same shopping mall. Would you like me to slap them for you?

With AppleCare+ do you get a new iPhone or refurbished?

Went on apple.com but could find T&C for the new AppleCare+ their search still brings up the old AppleCare plan for iPhone. Anyway, if I need to use AppleCare+ will Apple replace with new or refurbished? Also, if I don't get AppleCare+ will I still be able to pay $199 for a refurbished replacement if there's accidental damage?

If I get the 64GB version, AppleCare+ seems worthwhile, how do you all feel about AppleCare+ coverage for the 32GB or the 16GB iPhones?

I actually had no intention on getting AppleCare+ since I already was enrolled in Sprint's insurance plan... until Sprint announced they weren't covering iPhones. I'm not canceling my pre order for this either, since I would have gotten AppleCare+ at purchase if I had known this. So, who do I complain to?

So I ordered at an ATT store and want to get Applecare+. I called Apple and spoke to 3 different reps in the last 2 days. All 3 sounded a bit unsure, but told me I could not get it since I did not buy it when I ordered the iPhone and I could not bring into the store, etc. They also told me to call ATT.

So I called ATT. The rep was a lot nicer than the Apple people but she did not know about Applecare+, however she did ask her supervisor and was told that on 10/14 I could call back and they could add it to my order. They couldn't do it yet since they have no product number.

Seems like everyone is getting different answers...honestly I was surprised 3 Apple reps told me there was nothing I could do unless I cancelled and re-ordered through Apple. That's totally bogus, considering NO ONE KNEW APPLECARE+ EXISTED on Friday. Fail on Apple.
