I just called 1800-676-2775 and they were very nice and added it to my order. It's even showing online already. However, my dad just tried to call (twice) and was told NO. Don't know why they agreed to do it for me and not for him. As for my AT&T order, they told me the same thing everyone else has been reporting - take it into the store to buy it.

I'm glad I'm a Sprint customer. They offered AppleCare+ with all their pre-orders, and I bought two iPhones with AC+ at 5:00 AM EDT with no issues whatsoever. :)

I called applecare and they told me just to go to the store and buy applecare + when the phone arrives. They may have to look it over first.

Just to make sure, I called the store and the person who I talked to basically said the same thing.

So I plan on taking a unopened box in just to buy it. I ordered off of att's website.

Just called 1-800-My Apple and was told just to take the phone to the apple store after the 14th. I asked how long did I have to take it in and was told that they weren't given an exact date as to how long we can take to bring it in but that we should do it after the 14th since the 14th it's probably going to be long lines etc because of the launch. I guess I will go to following morning to add it. Hope this helps...

I was told by an apple employee that I could head in there any day this week to purchase AppleCare+ before my iPhone arrives in the 14th.

From these posts, it seems like most people are saying you have to bring the unopened phone in to register it...

Edit: I purchased through sprint but didn't add AppleCare at time of purchase, since I didn't know what it entailed.

At this point Apple should just give us AppleCare+ for free because of all the trouble...every carrier should have sold it from the beginning.

Called 1-800-MY-APPLE and was told that they were unable to add it to my existing pre-order. They told me I could go into a local Apple store anytime BEFORE the 14th, and that they could enroll my phone in AppleCare+. I called my local store and they said they could not enroll my phone at this time -- they said that I had to come in ON the 14th to enroll my phone.

Pretty annoyed at the conflicting information I'm getting right now. Maybe I'll just stick with Squaretrade.

Bah, not what I wanted to hear. Don't want to get the phone on Friday afternoon then have to drive a couple hours to an Apple store... Kind of ridiculous.

Edit: Not only that, but how long will the lines be on release day?!

There wasn't any trouble ordering it if you ordered your iPhone 4S through Apple's site.

That's definitely not so. I was finally able to get my order placed at apple.com about 5 AM EDT on Friday morning. The system would not add AC+ to my cart. I called customer service later Friday and asked them to add it and they could not get it in the cart either. They said go the Apple Store when I get the phone. That's a hell of a nuisance on launch day. This is about as confused as it could possibly be especially since this is just free money for Apple in most cases...here take my $99 just because I like you..oh please take it!

This is ridiculous. I'll try 1800 my apple again tomorrow, but it's about to ruin the whole experience.

I agree ^ lol

Just keep trying 1800myapple. I was able to do it today with zero issues.

I just sent an e-mail to applestoreinfo@apple.com stating that I did not get offered AppleCare+ (I didn't receive an e-mail asking if I would like it added either) and that I would like it added to my order, and in less than 45 minutes it was added. So if you are having issues calling in and getting it added, give the e-mail address a try.

did you order from Apple though

Thanks. I just sent an e-mail to the applestoreinfo address. We'll see what happens. This situation really seems unorganized. It's more like BestBuy than Apple IMHO.

I'd shop around, there are better deals to be had.

I use my house contents insurance, covers me for loss and damage when out. Costs no more, and the excess is £20. Consumer rights come in to play if the phone's hardware fails, so I use that. Not sure what consumer rights you have in America though.

I replied to the email:

Dear Apple Customer,

Thank you for your recent iPhone purchase at the Apple Online Store.

We would like to let you know that every iPhone comes with one year of
hardware repair coverage through its limited warranty and up to
90 days of complimentary support. AppleCare+ for iPhone extends your
coverage to two years from the original purchase date of your iPhone
and adds up to two incidents of accidental damage coverage, each
subject to a $49 service fee.

We noticed you weren’t given the opportunity to add AppleCare+ to your
iPhone. If you would like to extend your coverage for only $99, please
reply to this email.

Thank you for shopping with Apple.

Sincerely,
Apple Online Store Team

Said "I would like to enroll". Checked my account of the credit card that I used to buy the phone and got charged 101 something. Guess it works.

Just wanted to say thanks for this. I also was not able to add AppleCare+ to my orders for iPhone 4S and I simply shot out an e-mail to this address last night and just as you said within an hour I had it added to both of my orders.

Anyone with Apple Order #'s who needs to still purchase AppleCare+ should follow this advice and e-mail applestoreinfo@apple.com with your order #'s with the request to add AppleCare+ to your order.

has this method of emailing worked for anyone who didnt purchase through the Apple store directly IE verizon or ATT website??

About an hour ago I e-mailed that address posted in this forum. I had asked a question about that $199 one-time replacement they used to offer and whether that would still be an option if we did not get Apple Care+. I was on the fence about it for some reason ($300 phone, $100 piece of mind). Within that hour I had the order processed on my Apple account and it has hit my credit card. No questions, no pre-auth, just an e-mail inquiring about it.

I could be annoyed but it's easy enough to cancel. I was really just curious but I'll likely hang onto the service as it is. My homeowner's insurance deductible is about the same and I'd have to jump through their hoops. A genisass bar appointment is easier.

I'm sure you can buy it at the Apple store. You have at least 14 days to buy it.

I also did not know that you had to buy it at the time of placing the order. I was so busy just trying to order the phone. So I called an Apple rep just now. She said that you have 30 days after getting the phone to go into an Apple store and get the Applecare+.

AppleCare+ Part Number: S4575LL/A - someone asked for this.

Added this with no issues when preordering on Friday on apple.com.

This worked perfectly, thank you.

I e-mailed them "would you kindly add the AppleCare+ plan, at $99 + tax, to my iPhone orders FOO and BAR," and it showed up on my order status in under five minutes. I didn't get an e-mail reply.
