Seriously?!? Are you truly serious?!? There are other traditions this time of year, but "Christmas" is definitely about the birth of Jesus.

I believe he was referring how early Christians may have taken existing festivals and wrapped their own traditions around them. Some scholars believe it came about from Roman celebrations of the solstice, and was not a major event in Christianity, unlike Easter and Good Friday, until much later.

When does the airing of grievances start?

On the internet it is a never ending tradition.

Well I am atheist and I find pretty ridiculous when Christmas is not called Christmas because of whatever.

Wtf are you even talking about??!!
Nobody is calling Christmas “that one late December holiday” or anything... simply referring to the ENTIRE season as “the holiday season”. I guess some nitpicking entitleds get huffy at that & demand everyone call this season “Christmas season” instead, to placate their incredibly specific desire.
However, I’ve never heard a new made up word for the actual day of Christmas, I doubt you have either, & nobody but you here is claiming that is the case.

Hey Timmy,
What holidays?
Can't you say Christmas and Hanukkah?

Does it hurt to keep hating western civilization? Your sales show, we're all sick of your ****.

Lol, yup... I’m totally sure that smartphones peaking in sales directly correlates to you being ridiculously buttsore over the perceived slight Apple has committed against you by not listing all the month’s holidays in order, as the title to their party- rather, just calling it a “holiday party”.

I can’t even fathom someone more self-centered & living in their own reality, where their self-import is magnitudes higher than here in the rest of our reality.

Oh boy and here is was wondering why this post was PSRI. “Holiday”, “Christmas” it’s all the same. Why do people make such a big deal about it? It’s getting to the point that saying Christmas is more PC now then saying Holiday.

I think it's because there are a lot of people who are angry and do not feel good about themselves, and/or have not caught the breaks they feel they're entitled to. And finding something, anything, to muster up some faux anger in order to lash out at and verbally attack another human being, is the only way they can find some self-worth, power, and ultimately feel good about themselves - for a minute or two.

It's not Kawanza (that's a complete farce)

An argument could be made that every individual holiday is a complete farce if you really think about it, easter comes to mind first.

Kwanzaa is just as real as other holidays, it is just newer.

Something interesting I read about Kwanzaa is that in the US there is more white people that celebrate it than black people, and IIRC it is basically unheard of outside of the US, including Africa.

Yeah, tell your momma it's a holiday and not mother's day. "Happy Holidays!" lol...

all holidays are good as long as we get time off :D

Yeah, I celebrate Martin Luther King day by sitting around at home, not at work. lol. That's not offensive.

Lol, ok- when Mother’s Day moves to smack dab in the middle of THE HOLIDAY SEASON, my wishing her “happy holidays” will include Mother’s Day! =)

Any other ludicrous & idiotic make believe scenarios you want to postulate? You’re on a roll!

Yup!
Lol, also... the Apple holiday party took place on the 8th.
If I threw a party for my mom 17 days before Mother’s Day, yeah- it’d be pretty weird to wish her “Happy Mother’s Day!” at that party.
His analogy is DEFINITELY lacking!

Surprised they did it at One Infinite Loop. That would have looked incredible in the inner garden of the spaceship at Apple Park.

The original campus is a far more intimate setting, and better acoustics to boot. The radius on the Torus is massive making a far less intimate experience. It was always a joy to get off work and have a beer and see who was the guest. Or just have a beer with visiting companies.

Why does everything have to be politicized? And why do some people just need to feel so angry all the time? Some of the responses on here are just ridiculous. There are a number of holidays celebrated this time of year. It’s not a “war” on Christmas. It’s just recognizing this fact and making some people who don’t share your beliefs feel more included. What’s so angering about that?
