I am a Christian. Yet I am always amused over how christiandom gets its underwear in a bunch over a made up holiday. That’s right.... Christmas is NOT a Christian Holy day. There is nothing in the scriptures saying we should remember or celebrate christ’s Birth. His death yes, not his birth.

There is a reason it is called ChristMAS. Mass=death.

Tim must think he'll break out in a rash and get sent to the corner if he says the word Christmas,
or maybe he just thinks the stock price will drop more.

Most likely he is waiting until Christmas actually arrives before he says it. Like he did last year:
To my friends and coworkers, and everyone celebrating around the world, I wish you and your families a joyous, peaceful holiday season. Merry Christmas!
The way he does for most holidays. He doesn’t start saying it in August.

I suspect homophobia is the prime driver of the Cook hate. Any objective analysis of Apple under Cook will conclude that he’s done a very good job. Record revenue. A growing user base. Industry-leading mobile processors. New product categories. A rapidly growing services business.

But where’s the innovation????, scream the haters. Yet ask them to point out a company that has managed to deliver “the next big thing” and, surprise, surprise, they can’t. Because no one has.

Just like the many many years between GUI and touch, we’re on a plateau between innovative leaps. If Cook misses “the next big thing”, then the criticism becomes justified. But, until then, I maintain that it’s mostly homophobia.

Spot-on analysis. So many insecure unhappy angry people here.

Honest question. Does apple and Tim Cook use the generic term “holidays” when they mention the Hanukkah or Ramadan celebration? Or it applies only to the forbidden “Christmas” word?
Honest answer: the word “Christmas” is not forbidden, and Tim Cook does use it.

He doesn’t repeatedly say any holiday name officially for a month beforehand.

Lol, ok- when Mother’s Day moves to smack dab in the middle of THE HOLIDAY SEASON, my wishing her “happy holidays” will include Mother’s Day! =)

Any other ludicrous & idiotic make believe scenarios you want to postulate? You’re on a roll!

Nothing make believe about holidays. Timmy Cook, though, is in the land of Make Believe.

Apple isn't a world company. It's a California company. Look on the back of any product. America is a Christian nation. Your feelings on the matter are irrelevant.

America is a Christian nation???? Funny, I thought the constitution was the highest law of the land. As I understand Christianity... biblical laws are the ones they should live by, not anything else.

Go on, show us to prove where the US was founded as a 'christian' nation: https://www.archives.gov/founding-docs/constitution-transcript . Oh, and please stop psychologically projecting: you're one one utilizing feelings about a bronze age mythology to pass off an opinion as 'fact' whereas I'm actually using demonstrable evidence.

I will admit mass does inspire some great music:

Wasn't there something about "separation of church and state" in that document?

Oh, you can't rationalize with the likes of him (her?). They have never actually read the bible, nor the US Constitution (or the letters between the founders and their associates / friends / family members in order to get a better perspective on their thoughts)... but will scream louder than anyone else about 'freedom', 'patriotism' (read: nationalism), and 'christianity'.

Wouldn’t want to say the word “Christmas”

We wish you a merry Christmas, we wish you a merry Christmas and a happy new year!

Wasn’t ‘Christmas’ also celebrated by the Pegans, that predated Christianity, like a lot of Christian celebrations, including Easter?

I would take bets the next CEO has an office in Infinite Loop. Let the speculation begin.

I agree! =)

Makes sense, considering the fact that nearly EVERYONE celebrates the holidays, yet... even with its umpteen factions & myraid branches- still, less than 1/3 of the population is Christian.

note:
If you don’t add a /sarcasm tag... I’m totally going to pretend like I don’t realize you’re trying your hand at sarcasm.

How about wishing people simply: "Happy Holidays and a Merry Christmas."
Isn't Christmas originally a Christian holiday; what's wrong in acknowledging it? In my family we celebrate
both Hanukkah and Christmas as I guess many others do too. I don't understand why people get so spazzed out
over this stuff. Why is expressing Peace on Earth and Goodwill to All a crime nowadays? That's what Christmas is about, that and presents. Oh the horror of it all...

Saying the US is a Christian nation is not correct (at least not literally in the sense of other theocracies), but the US certainly is founded on Christian values. You may say it's founded on values of enlightenment, but they are in their own right heavily influenced by Christian ideals. Same goes for most Western civilizations. I think nothing is won by relativizing those roots and pretending like we were just lucky that liberalism fell into our laps. It didn't just magically appear, it came a long way.
