Look at Tim Cook and find the Opposite...
People like to bash on Tim, but the fact is if you look at the return and growth of the company since he’s been there, he’s probably been one of the most successful CEOs in the history of business. He might not make what you like, and you may not like how businesses have to make decisions, but he sure as hell knows how to make what sells. Yet for how many years now people have completely pissed on him as a CEO on here and continue to think they know market and market research more than one of the most successful companies in history.

Tim is hated here because he doesn’t make everybody the perfect product for them. But that is not his job - it’s to maximize growth, return, and sustainability by creating compromises people accept instead of trying to make every user their dream product. Or they think they know the market better. Despite 20 years of record profit and growth quarter over quarter every year.

Find me a CEO with better performance for their company in the past 50 years. And funny enough the younger generation loves them more than ever based non brand surveys.

Not a fanboy, just understand business 101.

Did Tim Apple announce his retirement or something?
Not yet but like any large corporation everything said by them or by the media is heavily scripted and the succession is decided months in advance with plans A to Z in place so there’s no room for errors that may negatively affect public perception or/and share price.

Since people like to protest so much, why there is no protest outside Apple Headquarters to call for his resignation?

I don’t care how much he has earned for Apple and how many new customers Apple has gained since he took office. More new users means longer wait time at Apple store, more products run out of stock quickly, more interest from hackers targeting Apple products. Most importantly, it is not special to own Apple products anymore as people are using Apple products everywhere.

Finally I decide to buy a Mac and now all the new M5 Mac have problems in using wifi during recovery. This affects me.

For me as a Mac User since the Mac 512K, what i miss over the past few years is the anticipation and surprise of Apple announcements. It was fun to guess what they might release because it always seemed that they'd pull some rabbit out of the hat or go in an unexpected direction. Then there was the the One More Thing... that kept me on the edge of my seat until the end of the show.

Even when we all "knew" Apple was going to make a phone, what Steve showed on stage was shocking and far beyond what most had guessed it would be. I'm not talking about the way it was presented, but the phone itself was unexpected and literally changed the world of mobile phones. The mockups in the year beforehand were actually hilarious in retrospect 😀

It was amazing and as an underdog, Apple wowed us with excitement that seems to be missing these days. It's not about the perfect product being announced, it's about the wow factor. Apple used to give us not what we wanted, but knew what we would love to have.

That is what I'd like to see again.

Tim Cook realised right from the start two realities, and it rankles the sensibilities of many people here.

1) There is a difference between what people need and what people want. There is nothing wrong with wanting nice things, but that doesn't necessarily make existing Apple products flawed just because they don't live up to users' (often unrealistic) expectations here.

2) You don't run a successful business by giving people everything they want (especially when these people keep clamouring for lower prices and more hardware specs).

The more people complain here, the more Apple prospers by doing the exact opposite. I wonder if there is any correlation between the two... 🤔 😏😉

In an in-depth article for Bloomberg Businessweek today, Mark Gurman profiled Apple's hardware engineering chief John Ternus, who is widely viewed as the leading candidate to become Apple's next CEO whenever Tim Cook decides to step down.

Apple-John-Ternus-2019.jpg

The article is very long, so we recommend reading it in full, but a few of the key takeaways are that Ternus is apparently "well-liked among Apple's leadership" and helped with "reversing a trend of declining product quality" at the company.

"Since getting the top hardware engineering role in 2021, he's overseen an expansion in Apple's product lineup, improving quality and focusing on functional improvements around battery life, performance and connectivity," wrote Gurman.

Cook reportedly gave oversight of Apple's design teams to Ternus at the end of last year, and Ternus has been making a lot more public appearances in interviews and in product introduction videos over the past few years. The profile provides a closer look at how Ternus has risen to become the frontrunner to succeed Cook eventually.

Cook has not shared his retirement plans with even some of his closest lieutenants, according to the report, so it is unclear when he plans to step down. Cook has served as Apple's CEO since 2011, and he reached the common retirement age of 65 last year. In a recent interview, he vaguely said "I can't imagine life without Apple."

Integrating Apple Discussions forums with internal JIRA systems or analogue would be a good start. Otherwise a lot of reported issues simply get swept aside.

Ternus' top priority should be finding someone just like him but for software. Apple's hardware is amazing. And while I still prefer their operating systems to the competition, they have been in serious decline in terms of quality and reliability. Hopefully they can make some big progress towards reversing that trend with the rumored Snow Leopard style updates this autumn. You can have the best hardware in the world, and they do, but that doesn't mean much if the software sucks ass. If having him in charge of everything gives a Steve Jobs-like focus on quality and design, then I'm all about it!

Now put Federighi on forced long annual leave and have a look at the state of the software please..

Although unless he is using a Mac with Linux Arch installed, I find it incredibly difficult to believe that he doesn’t know about the real state of it

hurry up, remove tim cook the UI saboteur make him to go away !

what he allowed to happen to macos with big-sur, and up to this day with tahoe, is abomination.

in the future, whenever i'll see a broken design for UI/UX made by some incompetent fool i'll always remember the face of tim cook as the one that had the horror in front of him, he had the power to take the decision, and he said 'yea sure why not .. let's go with it, seems fine to me'.

Said someone that has no idea just how massively complex Apple's numerous operating systems are, and how well they work compared to 20 years ago. Apple has done an exceptionally great job rolling out updates year after year with relatively few issues. Just look at the madness of the competition (eg. Windows, Android, etc.) to see this truth.

Tell us the real state of it. What are some concrete reproducible examples?

Tim has done a tremendous job for Steve Jobs and growing the business after that very few could have. The frustration we all have over the last years is over some bad decisions such as Gold Apple Watch, changes made a fashion girl at our beloved Apple stores, prices increase continuously, lack of innovation and the one more thing which we all loved, some products that never came to life such as the car and of course the Apple Intelligence Siri … I believe Tim will step down as CEO by the end of 50th anniversary with a big celebration and remain on the board to oversee the new kid on the block for another 5 years at least …
