I see you left out the billions we give to corps. Yes keep following the narrative of the "welfare queens" Just ignore the fact that we currently pay for corps to move operations overseas. They have been fleecing this country for decades.

I do not say people on welfare is a good thing. But please, next time you talk about welfare.... mention ALL those who abuse it. Not just poor people.
Read my post, are the people I mentioned not abusing welfare?

Trump is actually good for Apple. There is no way he can force them to manufacture here. That was just hot air, so will not happen. But what he has said he would do is lower corporate taxes and figure out a solution to let companies like Apple get their overseas money back to the US. The GOP is also on board with second point so it has a high chance of happening.

As someone else said, my candidate was out months ago.

... But I agree with Apple bringing some jobs back to the US. They don't even store their globs of cash here, they bank overseas to avoid the higher tax penalties.

They don't make a single idevice in the states, they probsbly don't make anything here anymore except for a few Macs. It's shameful to be honest.

It would be fiscally irresponsible for them to bring money earned overseas into the US. It's not America's money. The tax rate is too high and that's not Apple's fault.

And what is shameful is how lazy and demanding American workers have become for higher wages. Not all, but too many to make it financially feasible to have factories there. The middle and higher-class don't want factory jobs, while at the same time accepting the wages required to make products at affordable prices. Something has to give. Honestly, I think it's the "great American" corporations like Walmart that have created this situation. Every dollar spent at Walmart contributes to this problem.

I don't agree with how these manufacturers operate in China, but they get the job done, and products land in our hands. It's an unfortunate reality. If you know of a way to bring that success to the West, then do something about it.

Nothing of what you wrote had anything to do with the post to which you responded. Read it again, then rephrase your answer accordingly.

Hint: "...from an economic standpoint..."

Thank you. He's on about something that doesn't have anything to do with the progressive and radical point I was trying to make.

get their overseas money back to the US ... ????

What makes you think that even half of that money originated in the US? This is the crux of the problem with this whole topic.

I think a letter went out because it was probably causing issues with-in the companies personnel.

I would suspect many Apple employees are Democrat, Libertarian and Green Party supporters, but I could be wrong.

I think many will see the unity speak as a way to unite against Trump. Time will tell. Will America forget in 3 months time or will this become an engulfing firestorm.

I hope this brings about election reform. I hope Trump is all bark and no bite. I hope this isn't the darkest era in US history.

I keep thinking why did we only have two choices in the debates. Maybe we need debate reform as well so all parties can be heard.

The problem with Tim Cook and Trump is that Tim listened to rhetoric and political correctness and took a false position based on it. Tim should have just kept is mouth shut and worked with both candidates as Apple has done in the past. With his action he has pissed off about 50% of the population, which not a good thing for Apple, no matter which side of the political spectrum you are on.

Spoken like a true MacRumorite—a species unto itself. Want to increase your election prospects in the US? Talk about dating your daughter and deny global warming, apparently. Or why not gleefully celebrate torture or call anyone different a rapist. Land of the free and the home of the misogynist.
Well, when you have a choice between someone that says sexist, rude comments in private "guy talk" and another candidate that appears to not care about how she handles state secrets, uses her own charity as a tax shelter, proposes continuing ineffective international policies, etc. - you can see how it is a tough decision right?

As of Oct 19th, Hillary had spent twice as much on her campaign as Trump. She had tremendous support from her political party (including the President, First Lady, and Vice President campaigning for her), strong mainstream media support, countless celebrities supporting her, etc. I would say he message was heard, but people didn't buy it.

There's more to "making" a product than just the final assembly. Let's not discount the contributions to the designers and engineers that make these devices possible.

Soon we're gonna see a Macbook Pro, Hillary edition. I will be blue, and leave you hanging, in the time you need it most. It will be excellent at permanently deleting you emails, and the only keys that will not work well will be the S, J, and W. The slogan will be "grab the apple by the poosy". It will come with a card game called "the victim card", and will Trump all MBPs before it.
That's the 'deplorable' edition. I believe it is just marketing spin on a model with a 16 GB SSD so it can't store much beyond the OS and a few apps; keeps people from storing incriminating emails...

This is an example of the kind of empty neoliberal rhetoric that led to Trump getting elected.

A company that touts diversity, yet from an economic standpoint, shuts so many people out.

Dr. King was about racial AND economic justice, a Civil Rights Movement AND a Poor People's Campaign, but Tim Cook and his mealy-mouthed subordinates wouldn't understand that.

Apple's true message is more along the lines of "We think everybody is important and equal. But no one more so than the few who can afford our overpriced products. For my $300m/y wage, I thank you all."

Speaking of which, can Mr. Cook (or one of the upper management at Apple) "read the riot act" to one Colin Kaepernick, backup QB of the San Francisco 49ers?

Kaepernick more or less said he didn't vote out of protest of the candidate choices. For obvious reasons, the reaction even among the political Left has been overwhelmingly negative, to say the least. Look, Mr. Kaepernick, if you want to affect change, do it a the best place possible, the ballot box, whenever that opportunity arises.

President Donald Trump will work for the betterment of the lives of all Americans, even the hateful progressives who have done everything in their power to ruin our nation through socialism and thought policing. For those getting the vapors over the results of an election, maybe its time to reflect on why you've allowed political ideology to become your substitute religion. There's more to life than that.

I'm really disappointed as an Apple owner/fan that Tim spends more of his time on social/political commenting than on recognizing why Apple is in decline.

I would rather he be more visionary and focus the company on innovation, quality and value in its products.
They are really losing touch with consumers and these distractions are making Tim an ineffective CEO.

Maybe Tim could setup some safe spaces at HQ with pictures of Hillary hugging children or something so the overly-sensitive people can feel better.

Or here's an even better idea - how about getting back to work and fixes bugs with iTunes, iCloud, and all of the other issues that have been around forever. How about upgrading the iMac, Mac mini, etc. I think that Apple has plenty to worry about that has nothing to do with what's happening in D.C.

What kind of election reform are you wanting? One where a party that's supposed to be neutral between it's Primary Candidates but colludes with one in and effort to end the campaign of another?
