so you have read 6 reviews and are waiting for more read?

but on topic i think its a sign of weakness to respond. its only going to give it more publicity.

No I'm saying after 6 bad reviews I don't need to read the book.

Judging by Tim Cook's reply and people's hatred toward the book's message, I would say Kane knew exactly what she was doing and people fell for it.

Well done Kane, well done.

Bizarre opinion that I've read at least ten times here: That anyone could take it as an advertisement for this book that Tim Cook called it "nonsense". Tim Cook is perhaps not the most exciting CEO in the world - which means he doesn't call it nonsense if it isn't.

The other bizarre opinion that I've read at least ten times here: That for some reason Tim Cook shouldn't have responded to this nonsense. I think it's the opposite. He makes it known that if you write nonsense about Apple, you will be pulled up on it. Mrs. Kane will forever be known as the woman who wrote the nonsense book about Apple. Maybe that keeps the next perpetrator away.

so he branded her with an apple letter so to speak?

if hes gonna respond tear her bs down point by point. just calling it nonsense creates another thread like this where few know the real story.

No I'm saying after 6 bad reviews I don't need to read the book.

that seems fair and balanced

You mean, just like the book?

i have no comment on the book as i havent read it. however i wouldnt rush to judge it because it says something i dont like.

in fact i criticized excerpts from it but thats not enough for me to judge it as a whole.

I think the entire premise of the book is bogus, but it is a tried-and-true way to cash in. The author's response to Cook's statement is pathetic, and only confirms to me that this is a kiss-and-tell book, but without the kiss part.

I agree with Tim Cook, book is nonsense. It's been 30 years. Yes, apple has had some rough times but they are doing well now and they will be fine.....:;):apple:

certainly is which is why i dont get why cook gives it more publicity. his cookie cutter answer isnt going to achieve anything.

Because he is bound to be asked about it. He can now refer to his statement and refuse to discuss it further with anyone.

serious question. what would your comment be if his response was simply "no comment" or he had laughed it off?

i mean would you criticize him for that?

Cook shouldn't have responded. This played right into the author's hands by actually getting a response from the CEO. Now she will sell tons of books.

Apple isn't in decline, but for years and years there have been tons of "doom" articles all over the net, but I guess no one ever thought to gather all of those thoughts into a book before. Nice money grab on the author's part and job well done for getting the attention she craved. Clever on her part from a financial perspective.

Since he fired Scott Forstall, Apple's losing.

I think he should be fired like Steve Jobs was.

Put Schiller, Craig F., Bob on front. I think he doesn't understand the difference between a process and a thread.

You are so smart. Steve put him at the helm. Is Steve just an ignorant judge of people's ability. If Tim is clueless I guess Steve must have wanted the company to fail so it would make him look like the only person able to run Apple. It is amazing how stupid some people are. He would not have the Job if he was not up to the challenge. Most people these days judge people by the way they look. Shallow, ignorant, judgmental hypocrites.

I haven't criticized him for the statement. I can understand why he made it.

As any PIO will tell you, never say "no comment."

I was going to write pretty much the same thing. He acknowledged the book - that's all the author would ever want. Now the CEO is telling everyone that it's nonsense. She'll sell a bunch of books to people who want to see what got Tim to respond in such a way.

Money grab or not, and whether or not Apple is on the decline - she'll make out well. You don't have to be popular or even right to make a lot of money in the media. And (at least Americans) love "dirt" - even if it's wrong. If they didn't, at least half of what is on TV and in Magazines would be nothing but dead air/space.

Apple has become a totally boring company to follow and it's getting hard to even root for them anymore. Funny this comes on the day of Apple releasing an 8GB phone with a 4" screen. What is this 2005? And don't even get me started about ignoring the Mac mini....

If you say it in that context sure. But that 8GB phone has a 8MP camera dual core processor clocked at 1.3 GHZ 1GB of RAM and a 326PPI IPS display. Thats not a product from 2008.

Ok 6 bad reviews from media/bloggers and 10 so far on Amazon. When I see a book with one star on Amazon I'm not usually inclined to buy it. Every review I've read so far the reviewer went out of their way to say they wanted to like it, that they had high expectations considering who the author was. These aren't ******** fans whining that Kane is picking their precious Apple.

Nah, I don't see this book selling much. And those that were inclined to buy it would do so whether Cook responded or not. But for 99.9% of the public they won't give it a second thought. Honestly I think there are Apple employees doing great work, pissed at the constant negativity, D&G and FUD. They're probably glad Cook isn't sitting there like a punching bag.

Where are the really new products?

The Mac Pro was announced at the end of 2013, so it doesn't count.

So where does that leave us? In a little over a week, a quarter of 2014 will be gone and the only "new" products are older versions of products replacing even older ones or current versions with less storage capacity.

As an example, the Mac mini is way overdue for an update. Hopefully it will be worth the wait. Maybe if Tim Cook isn't as anti-games as Steve Jobs was, the new Mini will have a decent GPU and be a real "Mac Pro mini" of sort. Because I sure don't want to buy a desktop computer with a built-in display.

no im asking you if you would have criticized if he hadnt issued a statement. he wasnt asked at a news conference right?

Let's play a cute game of numbers - devil's advocate so to speak.

How many Android "fans" are there.
How many Android "fans" would love to quote this book

How many MS "fans" are there.
How many MS "fans" would love to quote this book.

How many Samsung "fans" are there.
How many Samsung "fans" would love to quote this book.

How many Apple "fans" are there.
How many Apple "fans" would love to shred every "fact" and enrage themselves in reading it just because they can.

Subtract the # of "too cheap to even pay for a .99 app - they'll probably just torrent the book

I think that pretty much sums up the sales volume this book could have ;)
