. Nobody has made hands down better products. No matter how bored I am with them.[/QUOTE]

I would disagree and say that the htc one is pretty impressive from a hardware standpoint. Certainly gives the 5s a run for its money.

One thing I've just realized about Cook. He's just as paranoid about receiving criticism and just as needy for everybody's affirmation as Steve Jobs was.

yeah? how did you reach this conclusion? after many personal, in-depth conversations with him over dinner? no....? oh. then you actually have no idea what youre talking about and just made that up. yeah.

if somebody trashed my company, i'd tell my employees its BS, too. a pity you wouldnt.

Every year that goes by since the iPad 2 came out...I have been saying to myself next year they'll come out with something awesome, they have to have some secret weapons hiding. The thing is, they really don't even need to use them yet. Nobody has made hands down better products. No matter how bored I am with them.

During the most successful decade in the history of publicly traded companies Apple didn't come out with a new "awesome" product EVERY year. Or even every OTHER year. I think you were expecting a little too much.

Once it stops taking 20 hours to sync something as little as 1 new song to my iPhone I'll agree with you Tim.

Apple is definately not in a decline. Especially now after they introduced a new 8gb iphone 5c and a new ipad 4
Innovation at it's finest... introducing old, stripped down models.

Cook has yet to disprove her assertions. How big is that ********** pipeline! Better call RotoRooter, it's clogged with bull$h!t.

She is a textbook hater, all she publishes is hate with regards to Apple. Wonder what they did to annoy her. Then again maybe she is just a twisted bitch.

Exaggerate much.

Definitively Apple is declining, grabbing 80% of all the money in the smartphone business. On the other hand Google/Android/Samsung are winning the war grabbing just 18% of the money in the smartphone market.

Apple is definitively decadent, grabbing 85% of the money in the tablet business, 75% of the money in MP3/MP4 player business, the majority of money in the desktop computer market, the majority of money in the portable computer market, the majority of the money in the multimedia/TV market, the App Store that gives a revenue 6 times larger than Android's, you name it.

There is not a single market Apple is on where they are not draining all the money to their coffers.

I hope my company be as decadent as Apple. I would be crying over piles of $1000 bills so hard that my tears would smudge the ink.

Apple are far from a decline but they have definatly stagnated.

The last real innovation that they released was the iPad. I don't think thinner and lighter cuts it anymore as true innovations and ios just hasn't changed enough since it's inception.
What we have seen of ios8 doesn't fill me with confidence

Very tempted to jump the fence to the new htc one, plus moto's 360 smart watch just looks sexy.

So true. While Apple definitely pushes the boundaries, getting thinner is just a byproduct of technological advancement.

The Latitude CPi is "thin" compared to what came before it, too.

That's basically what every review is saying so we don't have to read it. Isn't that what book reviews are for?

Personally, I try to do my own research and make up my own mind about something and not just follow the crowd.

But, to each his/her own...

In retrospect, it hasn't been that long since they released an innovative product.

iMac- 1998

iPod- 2001 (3 years)

iPhone- 2007 (5.5 years)

iPad- 2010 (3 years)

iPad was 4 years ago

I wonder why he is so defensive about it... that's not a good sign

If someone spreads BS around, I don't think it's a bad thing to take position against it. Of course a certain crowd will imply that this means that there's some truth to it but ultimately that's irrelevant, not only because on the other hand there's also a certain crowd that would say "he's not denying it, so the book must be true".

Either way he can't do the right thing in their opinions, so who cares...

Sounds like damage control, unfortunately.

I can very well imagine the book tries to turn anecdotes into facts so it has more appeal (read: better $ales), but why is Tim coming out so abruptly to call it nonsense?

I don't know where you get the impression from that this is "damage control". "Damage control" would imply damage. Tim Cook probably had an assistant read the book (I very much hope he wouldn't waste his time on it), was told that it is nonsense, and now told the public that it is nonsense.

The author replied in the usual backhanded way that this kind of people react. "It must hit a nerve". No, Mrs. Kane. Tim Cook didn't call your book nonsense because it hit a nerve. He called it nonsense because it is.

Apple has become a totally boring company to follow and it's getting hard to even root for them anymore. Funny this comes on the day of Apple releasing an 8GB phone with a 4" screen. What is this 2005? And don't even get me started about ignoring the Mac mini....

If it was just one review...but I'm up to 6 now, not including the ones on Amazon (that also appear to be negative).

Funny. But now that you mention it, it's been a while since they've introduced something that made me say 'wow'.

so you have read 6 reviews and are waiting for more read?

but on topic i think its a sign of weakness to respond. its only going to give it more publicity.

Then, by all means, please stop following Apple. I am so terribly sorry that you are bored, but Apple's raison d'être is not to keep you preoccupied.

I almost hate to ask you this... Do you have any idea why Apple released an 8GB iPhone 5C in select markets?

Because introducing an 8GB iPhone 5c and the iPad (4th gen) is the "best work of their lives"

Sorry Tim, but the company is boring, and so are you! I'm just glad that he isn't the one delivering the keynotes. Thank god for Phil, Craig, and the other execs that know how to interact with a crowd. Tim with his crackely boring voice makes me sleepy, and his fake enthusiasm is annoying... He doesn't seem sincere. I have a feeling that he doesn't even know half of what he is talking about. Does he even know what the features he talks about do and why they are nifty?

Still would like to see product announcements throughout the year, not all at once in September/October.

Tim is an operations guy, NOT a marketing or product guy. Ives should have been made CEO.

The book has 1.5 stars on Amazon... yup sounds like a winner, do I smell Pulitzer?

Clearly this author who has never build a company or created a product that has defined a generation, she has absolutely no idea of what she is talking about, most of the time it's just her opinion, the problem is that she is very confused, probably she will write a book about how bright are blackberry's prospects or the wonders of Microsoft surface

The fact that she does not even begin to understand Jony and the future this company has is just confusing.

one of those reviews. could be a poster on here

Bizarre opinion that I've read at least ten times here: That anyone could take it as an advertisement for this book that Tim Cook called it "nonsense". Tim Cook is perhaps not the most exciting CEO in the world - which means he doesn't call it nonsense if it isn't.

The other bizarre opinion that I've read at least ten times here: That for some reason Tim Cook shouldn't have responded to this nonsense. I think it's the opposite. He makes it known that if you write nonsense about Apple, you will be pulled up on it. Mrs. Kane will forever be known as the woman who wrote the nonsense book about Apple. Maybe that keeps the next perpetrator away.
