You should talk.

Need I remind you of your inaccurate use of the car analogy that you never cease to toss around?

Please enlighten me, as I don't recall any car analogy I've ever made. I may just be getting forgetful in my old age as I've certainly posted my share of nonsense around these parts.

However if I had to make a more apt car comparison in this case, it would be someone who chose not to trade in their 2012 335i because they didn't really like the design differences in the 2015 model. The iPhone 6 is hardly a case of busting out the old Henry Ford horse/car quote.

Eh.

Someone had a really good point about the 1GB of RAM. Do I wish that they had upgraded it? Yes. However some people have pointed out that developers tend to take advantage of the RAM that they expect users to have. If developers start creating apps with 2GB of RAM in mind but most iDevices have 1, what do you think will happen to performance and user satisfaction?

I imagine that we'll probably see more RAM in time for the 6S release or the 7, with the idea that the processors in the 5S, 5C, 6 and 6+ are better able to withstand updates going forward.

1GB of RAM isn't enough. At this revision the iPhone should have 3 to 4 GB RAM to remain competitive. The hardware gap has sufficiently widened so that apps will perform noticably better on Android phones.

As for Apple holding off because they don't want to force old iPhone owners to upgrade, wtf? Apple gimps the new phone because they don't want old phone owners to feel the need to upgrade? That's your explanation for the gimped RAM?

This is idiotic. iPhones have never been "upper middle class". iPhones are dirt cheap. Students buy them. Anyone who isn't in the underclass can afford them - perhaps with some savings.

Upper middle class is being able to buy a $60k Lexus as opposed to a $20,000 Kia. Being able to pay $199, $299, or even $399 for a phone every other year is not a marker of the upper middle class.

Guy needs a phone that makes him feel superior to everyone else. What a tool.

Whatever floats your boat brother. it's really not that big of a deal.

Who uses their phone while it's laying on a table?

you tell me you dont check your phone while its on the table you dont click the home button to see the time? to see if u have a new notification?

you dont do it when you hands are busy or dirty so you navigate it with your pinky when you are cooking or doing an untold amount of other similar stuff?

have you ever even seen an ad for a phone do you know how many times it is just sitting there flat while someone is just tapping it????

are you out of your depth? why must i tell you all this?!?

I'm stuck on the idea that if they kept the same width as iphone 5 the battery and autonomy would have smash all other concurrent devices... This would have been a killer argument and you can see Samsung remaining it on each presentation: the low energy mode...

Haaa Apple I'm confused now... What to do? (Yeah very important existential problem :) ) I will ask Siri...

Amen. Low income families even buy big screen TV's and subscribe to cable. The argument is that they can't afford a $199 phone that is a LOT more useful?

Translation: "I don't qualify nor can I afford an upgrade right now so let me mock the new iPhone to make myself feel better about it."

I'm so proud of Apple for creating these amazing products. Apple exceeded expectations in every possible way with their announcements today. Tim Cook has silenced all his doubters.

Tim is correct.

Steve picked him for a reason......because he is a winner.
Simple.

LOL, nice try.

The next few months are going to be difficult for jerks- as they are proven wrong over and over and Apple sets new records of sales, profit, marketshare, etc. while the Galaxy Gear fades into the abyss and the rest of Android continues its race to the bottom.

But yeah, grasp at every straw you can.

My god the fanboys are out in force today.

Back in the real world... The reaction from everyone I know to this launch is "meh".

It's really weird, as a long time Apple defender I'm now seriously considering the switch to Android but even my Android loving friends seem disappointed with this launch rather than doing the usual mocking - I think they wanted more as well because at heart we're all tech geeks and like to see progress for the sake of advancement. This isn't progress.

The phones are ok, but that's it. Ok. Not great, not special, no advancement for the most mainstream model (4.7"), it'll perform similar to the 5S, similar battery life (which is the one area people really wanted an upgrade), it's got a bigger screen and is thinner at the cost of a protruding camera (also no physical upgrade from the 5S) and has that ugly, amateurish design to the antenna breaks.

The watch, well, we were expecting better, it's pretty "meh" too and convinced no-one I know that they'd be wearing watches - functionality aside it's also a fashion item but it's just not very slick in that regard.

I can see why Jony Ive brought in Marc Newson though, seems he probably designed the thing -

So fanboys, stop getting all evangelical please. This launch is ok, nothing more and in-fact a disappointment to many, even non-fans of Apple.

There's literally nothing revolutionary about anything we saw, nothing really exciting. The sales numbers will be huge but that's not because these are the best Apple products ever, it's because Apple is still cool for many people and they want the latest Apple products, many are tied to the eco system so will probably just get the standard like-for-like upgrade from their iPhone 5's etc etc. You won't be proving anyone wrong when Apple sets sales records, it's expected, but that doesn't mean these are the most amazing products the world has ever seen.

Apple are making small steps backward in innovation and design rather than being well ahead of the pack - the current Android phone/phablet offerings are not a million miles from these brand new Apple ones where in the past they'd have been watching the keynote with fear and nervousness, struggling to keep up for a year or so - all this launch has done is likely spark complacency for the entire industry.

You know what? I'll probably get the iPhone 6 anyway because I'm due my upgrade from my 5 and I'm in the eco system, it's not quite bad enough to make me switch. Sad really isn't it.

Mother of all upgrades? That's a bad joke. This is basically just a bigger iPhone 5S that is 20-30% faster. I'm sorry, but the new Android phones are far more attractive.

iPhone 6 buyers have to be:

- Apple fans
- Technology freaks who buy everything
- People who depend on Apple's ecosystem
- People who don't know better
- Reviewers

It's sad.

Know what's sadder? People who feel the need to go on forums and spend time and energy to put down others who want to buy something that they don't. How insecure must one's ego be to do such a thing?

Know what's even sadder? People who feel the need to criticize other people's sadness. I rarely do this, but here I feel the need to.

Really? That's the best you can do?

If you don't want to buy the iPhone 6, don't. But insinuating that others who do are ignorant is truly pathetic.

Since when are critics not allowed? If you can't tolerate them, go away.

I seriously don't care which phone other people buy.

You're not criticizing the device. You're criticizing the people who want to buy them. You don't comprehend the difference?

And I thought that this was a forum where people express their opinions and not a place where thought police like you tell others what or what not can write

If you don't like his opinion, rebate it or shut up. Stop acting like North Korea

I don't care about his opinion on the iPhone 6. I take issue with his opinion on people who want to buy one.

No I don't. Do I criticize anyone when I say that men buy men clothes and women buy women clothes? I don't think so. This is just me using logical thinking.

I like Cook's confidence, and I don't doubt he's correct, but this is the first time since iPhone 3G, and as a longtime Apple fan, that I'm considering an upgrade that is not an iPhone.

For me, it's too little, too late.

I'll come out and say it straight up, I think the design of the 6 is ugly - the plastic lines totally ruin it. I think their design started going downhill with the 5 and this cements their descent into Ugly Phone territory.

iOS is looking tired and outdated, despite the recent revamp. Pay piques my interest (coupled with Touch ID, which I haven't had the pleasure of using as an iPhone 5 user), but here in the UK, where we have contactless payment cards, I'm not sure it's such a big deal.

Everything else about the 6 seems to just be about playing catch up (and failing, in some respects). But due to Apple's incredible brand cachet, everybody's going wild and will treat it as the second coming.... (or 12th or whatever release it actually is).

I'm looking at the Xperia Z3. I know it's not out so I can't say with certainty, but all signs point to a better camera, better battery, better screen - the things I actually care about - and in my opinion at least, it looks miles better than the iPhone 6.

Wow...what's shocking to me is reading all of the folks saying they're good with the 4.7 prior to the announcement but now there's droves for the 5.5.

Dammit Jim!

I'll still have to check it out in the store, but the OIS is a big selling point for me. And the significantly greater battery life. Still not 100% sure I want to lug a 5.5" phone around in my pocket. Will wait to hear what user reviews say.
