So many knee-jerk comments on this forum; makes me see clearly why the majority of the population of this forum (or, the planet?) could never even dream of being employed by Apple - that takes VERY special insightful people.

Getting it right first, like Maps, iOS7, and iPhone 5C?
Time to take a good, hard look in the mirror, Tim!

Good point. While I personally had a good experience with iOS 7 at launch, maps was definitely a disaster.

I think this is right on. It reminds me of a few things:

The move from PPC to Intel. It was a huge change/gamble, and it paid off. It showed that Apple is forward thinking, and not stuck on something because of ego.

iPhone - Apple hasn't always been first to the market with every new feature, but what they've implemented has been well done for the most part.

iOS7 - slightly rough at first, but it was for the right reasons - the software is better overall.

Mac Pro - took a few years to update but what they came out with is game changing. All the hoopla about abandoning the Pro Market was unfounded.

Final Cut Pro X - Apple went a little too far with this. They had good intentions, and have been good about fixing it, and adding features. I think they went after a heavier prosumer market and nailed it.

Probably more examples I can't think of at the moment.

Apple did "tell" us about the Mac pro last year @ WWDC. They could open up the Apple TV to developers, and showcase its new hardware at WWDC for a fall release. Would give time to developers to write apps for it.

I bet he also gets tired of getting the same questions every time he gets infront of the media. Apple has always been a secretive company that will NEVER open up its doors for media to look inside on unfinished products. If the media keeps on constantly asking him whats in the pipeline he is going to give them the standard line "we have exciting products that we are very proud of"...Until and unless apple changes its policy (which i personally do not want them to) and becomes less opaque TC or any other high ranking executive wont have many options when confronted with the same questions..

If apple does changes its policy, we'd see " Jobs would have never done this " Littered around on this forum and many apple-centric websites around the www.
That's true, then he said, "can't innovate my ass" or something like that.

iOS 7 is great. Quit complaining.

Yeah cause when I was on my iPhone (before I switched) listening to music and then having my phone crash for no reason is considered "great"

----------

Been using iOS since 3. iOS 7 is best to date and gets better with each update. Get an Android and leave.

Lets note here that I was on iPhone before I switch to Android in January. iOS 7 was great....on its looks. But functionality....nnot so much. Lets ALSO note that I have an iPod Touch 5th gen running iOS 7 as well so yes, even though I left for Android, I still have an iPod Touch to run iOS 7 with.

----------

What is with the criticsms with iOS7? I have personally found it much more usable and visually appealing than prior versions of iOS. Knock on wood, but on my iPhone 5 it works great with all it's handy features. I had trouble connecting to my work's WiFi while using iOS 6, but since upgrading to iOS 7 it connects automatically. I love the way one can close 2 apps at a time, switch apps quickly and quickly access the camera, BT, wifi, and even the calculator. Little things but handy. Is there room for improvement? Definitely, but I find the current OS a big improvement.

Im not criticizing its looks. On the contrary I am a fan of iOS 7's look...for the most part. Thing that I didn't like about iOS 7 was its functionality. It was really buggy and crashed a lot on my iPhone 5 when I had it.

Now I Understand

Thanks for clarifying that Mr. Cook. That explains why I had to drive 240 miles last Friday to get OS X reinstalled on my new Mac Pro because you won't provide a version on a thumb drive.

Now I feel so much better.

That package is what Android OEMs could have invented easily if they were focused on innovation and not copying and litigation.

Wait... you're accusing Android OEMs of focussing on litigation rather than innovation? Riiiiggght.

TouchID is highly innovative - in fact, since it was released i've been wondering how I managed to use phones for all these years without a fingerprint sensor on them! I think of all those extra milliseconds ive saved unlocking my phone and just stare in amazement

If that is what passes for innovation in technology now then we really are scraping the bottom of the barrel. Better yet, come back and talk to me when Apple manages to "invent" a phone with a screen that's a usable size.

can get a worldwide 80% market share...

Have you heard of the internet? Just asking, with sincerity.

There was absolutely nothing wrong with the iPhone 5C as a product. It looks and feels great and some prefer its design and feel to that of the 5/5s. It also improved on certain things over the baseline ip5 which apple would have continued to sell alongside the 5s had they not come up with the 5c. 60+% of the iPhone 5C customers are first time iPhone users (Tim Cook @ today's conference calls)..and most if not all of them are coming from android. I see the 5c doing well for apple through 2014 and 2015..Its not supposed to sell as well as the flagship..Its an entry level iphone 5..

I love my yellow iPhone 5C, it has a very nice feel to it, and is a premium product. It supplements my 5S very nicely.

can get a worldwide 80% market share...

80% of Worldwide market at what cost to profitability? Profits matter, market share is just there for Blandroid cheerleaders to mentally masterbate over. It lets them think they are "winning".

Quit making excuses Tim. Larger screen phones work. There's nothing to "perfect." It's been done and you're late to the game. The only reason why a possible bigger screen iPhone gets any press is because of the name. The rest of the world has already been there and done that and it works great.

If you did that you really aren't the sharpest pencil in the box. You can easily create a bootable USB drive from any other Mac. Not that you even have to do that, because the new Mac Pro is capable of booting into recovery mode and downloading Mavericks over the web. Finally, Apple stores are not the only place you can get a Mac reformatted. It is highly unlikely that the nearest authorized service provider to you is 120 miles away unless you live in a remote part of Alaska.

Anyone else recall similar statements being made by Apple this time last year?

"It means more to us to get it right than to be first"

iOS 7 would like a word with you.

So would Mavericks... :)

Tim Cook is getting lots of practice telling people what they want to hear. Even better they actually believe it. As a company you can't ask for more than blind faith.
