Apple CEO Tim Cook on Hate Speech: 'You Have No Place on Our Platform'

Ya I feel so oppressed by Apple now that I can no longer view child porn on the Tumblr app. Too bad I can longer make an app on their platform that promotes white supremacy. Clearly the majority of their consumers support it.
How did you think that the response you gave to that particular quote has any relevance?

They're not calling for it, but they're perfectly comfortable with others calling for it.

Also, there's plenty of reasonable conservatives. I've known many in the past. Their voices are just drowned out by the raging far-right.

What are you talking about? Who is calling for the extermination of people? And what conservatives are comfortable with that? You’re making up nonsense. If you’re referring to trolls on forums saying **** for a rise then there’s plenty of that filth on both sides and no one should listen to them. I see much more raging coming from the far left. Every single day I see dozens if not literally hundreds of posts online calling republicans Nazis and they’re praised for it. People needs to chill out with that talk.

No, it’s that the left lost their minds over a baker and a wedding cake, but they have no problem censoring and suppressing the masses ...
Does every Muslim that owns a printshop need to be worried that they may be forced to print books with pictures of Mohammed in them if their customer wants it?
Hey the 1930's just called. This guy named Hitler wants to interview you for a job as his right hand man.
Remembering March 1933, the day free speech died in Germany.

What if I started saying the N word and described why white people are superior? You think MacRumors would tolerate that? Ya I don't think so.
Foul words and insulting other members are both against the rules, so that's explicitly not allowed. Other than that, they obviously pick what they allow, but they generally allow anything that won't be seen as trolling or very off-topic. Which that probably would be.

Almost nobody is doing that stuff. There was that one blatant troll comment on the AIDS news last week, which was deleted.

You clearly don't understand sarcasm.

Rules??? I have rights as an American! I feel oppressed and MacRumors should stay out of politics!

Incorrect. The best products happen when the voices of the uncouth commoners are silenced.

Consider the iOS App store - they make sure low-quality garbage ideas aren't in there. It makes it a better product.

This site would be much better off by getting rid of these garbage right-wing libertarian comments with no value. Everyone should have grown out of their libertarian phase once they stopped being teenagers.
Give me some examples of "low-quality garbage ideas". May I ask why you only bothered to mention right-wing people but not left-wing people?

Also, what is your problem with libertarianism?

Nobody is perfectly comfortable with extremism, but they can't find a reason to make it illegal.

Btw, elected Democrats associate with people who say they'd like a violent communist revolution. At least where I live. A few crazy people aren't worth consideration.

I agree with this sentiment, but I can’t take them seriously when there is plenty of black supremacy rap music on iTunes. They preach about what is right, but they seem to have quite a bit of bias when it comes to what they think is right and wrong.

As long as you agree with them it's right.

Tim needs to get that stick out of his *** so the BS in him can leave and common sense can return. He's been stuffed up a while now.

Sadly, no censorship anywhere will help 100% if the root cause is left unfixed.
In fact it makes it worse IMO. Even if it's censoring something absolutely pointless and crazy like flat Earth theories. Just gives people a reason to not trust the authority.

I think you are misinterpreting the perspective. Defending the right of people to say things that you personally detest is not the same as defending WHAT they are saying.
I agree that believing in the 1st Amendment means defending freedom of speech for people I disagree with.

However, some of what is being defended as "free speech" amounts to shouting "fire" in a crowded theater.

Same as your source, Trump's statements. He was talking about Hillary's basket of deplorables, in other words, anyone who didn't want her as president.
Tell me why does everyone need to explain Trump for every statement. Is he such a terrible communicator of the our language? Could he have not said, you all that Hillary Hates Are my People? Words matter unless you are Trump.

Democrats also associate with people who literally call for death to Jews. Filthy people exist on both sides of the political aisle. Apple should pull Louis Farrakhan from Apple Music. Why is he allowed when he literally calls for the death of an entire nation!?

There will always be extremism on all sides, but currently right wing extremism is the most prevalent in the USA. That's just a fact. But I'm sure trump supporters would just call it a conspiracy while they browse their Qanon threads.

No one should need those words explained. Everyone with a brain knew exactly what definition of deplorables he was using when he said it.

Far more violence has been on the side of the left wing if you include injuries and damage to property during all those riots. People say it's difficult to say what's extreme, but I think getting enraged to the point of violence against innocents is the best definition.

Get over it already.
Oh hi random person. Was I talking to you in that comment? I was just answering his question. I can't be blamed for the stupidity of others, yourself included, but I will try to help people with understanding the big words if I can.

Apple desperately needs a Steve Jobs character. Tim Cook needs to retire and do humanitarian work. The irony here is the ones labeling speech as “hate speech” are the ones that accuse anyone of not agreeing with them as a sexist, racist, xenophobic, bigot, who supports groups like, ANTIFA, the Black Panther Party, etc. NPCs are a perfect description of said accusers. They are mindless programmed fools who repeat what they hear.
Yes there is. It's in the Klansman's rant, or in Isis boards, Neo-Nazis, and a good deal in the recent speeches by the presidents about "MS-13" invading our borders.
Where’s the liberal outrage over ANTIFA, the new black panther party, Louis Farrakhan, Muslim Brotherhood, Sharia Law. It’s as if being a white male is the only demographic capable of hate speech. It’s insanity. And to fan the flames, half the country supports idiots like Maxine Waters who openly calls for violence, basically against white conservatives.

That article is about terrorism, not extremism (or violence in general, which was what I claimed), and they notably don't even include Antifa in the terrorism list. And SPLC is also a meme.

I'm not going to bother proving it. If you've looked at the news at all, there have been at the very least 10K violent protestors within the past 5 years, so I'd like to see proof of more than that number of violent right-wing people.

Ah yes, name calling. The tried and true method of a Trump supporter.

Extremism includes domestic terrorism. So you can't prove it, got it.
