Being proud to be an American is silly, especially if you were born in the US. It's nothing to be ashamed of, but you didn't do anything to earn it.
I’m not sure if you’re being sarcastic, but I agree. You might be happy to be an American, or proud of believing in American values (however those would be defined), but you’re right; being born an American took no effort.

I’d make an exception for someone who worked to become an American, or whose parents did the same. That takes effort, and is something to be proud of.

Thank you liberal fascist for showing your hate and discriminate against my words.

From a more neutral point of view, I think you will understand Mr. barmann's argument better when you keep in mind how the engineered culture of the annexed nation and US Forward base (also called Germany) has been designed.

You see, German people can be very easily manipulated. I always recommend this book down below to people that want to better understand the underpinning of the German culture and psyche. Its called "Der Untertan"

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Der_Untertan

I myself had to grow up in this .. country. The free educational system here is highly manipulated and designed to install psychological guilt in its citizens in order o accept political and economic slavery from outside. However - on an advanced level.
The people in this country just don't understand that Germany at no time after 1945 was ever independent again.
With Angela Merkel, we have a European leader (a former DDR/SED/Stasi functionary) at our hands that strictly follows the strategic destruction of independent Nations (in this case Germany) in the name of the globalist Agenda UN2030 and NATO/OTAN. A true "Untertan". There are drone sorties/strikes every single day from the Airbase Ramstein to support the US Dollar hegemony and the suppression of uprising Middle Eastern countries like Yemen that could one day threaten US allies such as Saudi Arabia or players that may do not want to support the Petro-Dollar Recycling system. When you open discussions like that with German system slaves like barman you open up a can of worms. Don't expect critical system thinking or an open independent global mindset. They are not trained in that. They forced that Cool-Aid down their throats for decades. - So yes of course, we Germans are the bad guys- that's the narrative.

"Political correctness" is a buzzword used by the radical right to label essentially anything they disagree with. Conservatives can't win with facts so whenever they get logically dismantled they shout political correctness to destroy the messenger. Furthermore, the definition of hate speech has nothing to do with politics and is not up for debate. Hate speech is very plainly defined as "speech that attacks a person or group on the basis of attributes such as race, religion, ethnic origin, national origin, sex, disability, sexual orientation, or gender identity."

The reason right-wingers believe that opposition to hate speech is somehow political is because the right happens to be full of a lot of hateful and terrible people. And suggesting that Tim Cook should be forced to support hate speech on his private platform, in violation of his rights, is nothing but censorship to further the right-wing political position. A position that is not supported by facts and/or at least ~60% of the US population.

Yet, if you use your definition, then every single major news organization is guilty of hate speech against, for example, Trump because he is attacked and labeled just because he is white, heterosexual, male, and believes in America. There are no facts to back these attacks up or he would be in jail. Yet the hate speech continues unabated and unchallenged because that's all his opponents have.

And you and I both know this action by Cook, while not mentioned right now, because it's too new, would be the perfect way to slowly abolish all news of Trump or any other non-politically correct person. Hopefully, someday, you will realize that you just made hate speech political by classifying ALL right winders as hateful and terrible people and exactly made my point why it's nothing but censorship. Unfortunately, too many people think like you do.

So here is some living proof. Living here in the midwest we still have people that don't bother to lock their doors at night. All of these right leaning hateful and terrible people (I can say this because everyone I know is much further right than left) don't seem to cause problems. Note for you predators out there: we do lock our doors because of the habit we gained from living in one of the 3 most populated cities in the US for 18 years.

We still have businesses where a cash bowl with enough cash for change is left unattended so when you buy something you put the cash or check in the bowl if no one is around. These right leaning terrible and hateful people don't seem to be so terrible and hateful because this works just fine.

Try either of these in your left loving, liberal, city center and you will realize that by and large people that lean left are mean, untrustworthy, and angry compared the those that lean right. Note that I did not say all. But in order to realize this you have to actually know, communicate with, and interact with some average right wing people rather than generate up emotional, unrealistic images based on the media.

Oh geez, these threads are always filled with misinformed people talking about free speech and censorship.

Apple isn’t the government, they can “censor” (quotes because it isn’t real censorship) anyone they please.

The first amendment doesn’t apply here.

It does once Apple, Facebook, Google, etc. become large enough to represent a persons only view of the world.

It does once an industry, for example, Silicon Valley all work in lock step to eliminate certain views.

Great posts. Both illustrate very well the propaganda and the demonizing of the right wing ideology by the media and literature, that we are supposedly these monsters full of hate and killing thirst for other races.
In 1945, Communism won and took over the world covered as “democracy” and progressive politics. We are seeing it’s result right to this very day. Unstable regions, mass immigration, hunger and exploitation of poor countries, fatherless homes, degenerative culture and the list goes on.

Tim Cook is fundamentally correct and I’m sure his heart is in the right place. Hate speech shouldn’t be tolerated.

But seeing the people in this thread getting worked up was very entertaining for me, because it looks like some are only disagreeing because they hate the liberal ideology behind it rather than the elephant in the room. As libertarians and freedom-lovers, you should be more worried about it.

Corporations should not have control over this sort of thing, which is likely the exact opposite reasoning as a lot of you—in a capitalist society where money rules all, corporations have the potential to be as dangerous as a corrupt government. It should ultimately be up to us as the people to decide what constitutes ‘hate speech’ and whether or not to silence it, be it through democratic means or otherwise.

A lot more of you should realise that us on the extreme left agree with you, even if for different reasons entirely, and we mutually see neoliberalism as ludicrous and threatening. Once you get far enough left—far past what Americans consider to be ‘left’—you’ll find that most of us would reluctantly agree.

99% of these tech people have zero background in the humanities, history, philosophy, and the arts.
They also know nothing about logic, reason, ethics,
They especially know less than nothing about the history of governance and political philosophy and
how they apply to America and its Constitution.
They might be bright people, but they are, outside of their field of expertise absolute know-nothings.
They are precisely the kind of people who fall for the politically correct worldview,
and they are the last buggers I want making any decisions for me, my country,
or about what news and opinions the people in this country gets to see.
If they all keeled over right now the country and the world would be much better off.
As far as the ADL, they became an outdated, irrelevant operation by keeping that tiresome
uninformed ancient relic, Abe Foxman, on for 15 years past when he ought to have retired.
Uh people with backgrounds in history and the humanities tend to be very left. People in tech tend to be very libertarian because they don’t understand how society actually works. People on the right tend to be either rich and selfish or poor and undereducated.

You own your refrigerator. You don't own Apple's online services that they run with their own funds. The only bs I'm seeing is that the majority of pro-hate speech conservatives here apparently can't be bothered to open a book before commenting.
I own my phone. I should be able to install whatever software I want. I should have any app I want to have on it. No one asked Apple or anyone else to "curate the content" for me and thus "restrict what I can access." And if they want to do that then I should absolutely be able to use "a different app store" for my phone's software. It is a dumb device. I also think the ban on porn is censorship. A new word, for a new kind of business, that has a new kind of censorship.

I really wish Cook would shut the hell up with his political grandstanding and return Apple's focus on making great computers.

Quit using Apple as your personal ****ing soapbox Tim.

Totally agreed! This is one of the main reasons why i miss Steve(he kept his politics private for the most part).

I hope Apple’s board of directors steps in.

It is Apple’s right to allow/disallow whatever they want on thier platforms. Just as it is my right to choose whether or not to buy their products/shares.

So under some-one else’s protection? sounds like slavery to me
Really? Elaborate, i fail to see how not infringing rights of the minorities is slavery.
[doublepost=1543939397][/doublepost]
Apparently, communist oppressive regimes that discriminate and mass murder their own people are ok to the likes of Tim and other leftists. What a bunch of hypocrites. Truly disgusting.
Oh please.

In the same manner of speaking if you’re right you support slavery. Now we will come nowhere with such rethoric will we?

Sorry Timmy Kook-boy but we have this thing called the 1st amendment. So go scratch.
We don't need a corporation telling us what is right-think or wrong think.
I think you have 1984 in your book store. Unless you "curated" that out already.

The whole bakery/gay wedding cake thing drives me crazy because so many people equate refusing to decorate a cake in a specific manner with refusing service. Refusing to make a cake with a message that one finds offensive is not the same thing at all as refusing service to someone at a restaurant or retail store or even selling a pre-decorated cake. The defining factor is "work for hire."
  • Should a painter who typically paints family portraits be forced to paint a nude couple if he finds painting nudes uncomfortable?
  • Should an author who co-authors books be forced to co-author a book on a subject matter she finds offensive (or just uninteresting)?
Any business that's open to the public should serve all members of the public. This means restaurants serve anyone, bakeries sell cakes to anyone who comes into the store, clothing stores sell to anyone selecting an item from the rack. And, in the case of a bakery, if the bakery has an advertised list of pre-defined things they'll put on a cake, they should put any of those things on a cake for anyone who requests it.

Creative and custom work for hire; however, should always be at the discretion of the person performing the work for hire. The scope of the work is immaterial, be it a novel, a painting, or words on a cake.

Refusing to perform creative work that's personally offensive is not at all the same as refusing to transact a retail sale or refusing restaurant service. Equating them misses the point entirely.

1 making drugs illegal is how we got rid of drugs.......oh wait.....
2 Canadians have it and plenty head to other nations for care
3 they are free to do so, but Our tax dollars should not have to pay for their decisions , want BC? Buy it
4 liberal ideas as not as good as many of you pretend they are

1. Frankly, I think all drugs should be made to legal and with government oversight.

2. I am Canadian, and overall Canadians are happy with their health care coverage. It is not remotely like what Republicans wants you to believe. There are already plenty articles about Canadian Healthcare, I won’t go list them. Just from my family, my father get his surgery pretty quickly without much of hassle or wait. We won’t need worry about huge bills comes to our door.

3. Women should have its right to decide abortion or not. It is not up to men or other decide if women should or should not abort their pregnancy. Right wing people want smaller government? Then stop government inferences on women’s decision.
[doublepost=1543941131][/doublepost]
No political party can remove all guns, which is why the Constitution ensures that everyone can have one. From self-defense to militia to revolutions, equal access to weapons means no small violent group can exert undue control. The best living argument for this recently is ISIS. Or Great Britain with their knife ban, lol.

Yes it can be done, Australia did it, Japan did it, Canada has more sticker gun law than US. And all of these countries have lower gun crime rate than United States.

Alt-righters once again proving that they don’t have even a basic grasp of laws or the constitution. Corporations are private entities.

Because everyone is born free: nobody needs a smug overbearing person to tell then "they are now free (with my permission)"
Good. Everyone owns themselves. “Morally superior” people, groups or even “Society” own no individual.

Women killing children in their wombs is not women making decisions about their bodies. It is women killing children in their wombs.

A decision about their bodies should be made BEFORE children develop inside their wombs.

Latino migrants do not equal Jewish refugees. Jews were not fleeing from other Jews. They were fleeing from being exterminated by non-Jews. Latino migrants are fleeing from other Latinos. They are not being exterminated for being Latino. They are fleeing their own dysfunctional societies and if allowed in, they will bring that dysfunction with them.

It is akin Israelis fleeing Israel for America not being the same as Jews fleeing Europe. Those Israelis who want to live in America are not refugees and are pure migrants or immigrants. They may not like living in Israel because of constant terror threat, lower wages, higher cost of living, etc., but they are not refugees.

It is not a human being before it comes out of mothers body. Therefore, it does not have rights, it cannot be treat as a human. It is entirely up to women to decide if she want keep the baby. Believe me, no women wants abort their baby if they don’t have to.
