This thread has restored my faith in humanity. I have thought that we irreversibly got lost into a horror of political correctness.

There is a good old quote which says: "I do not agree with the single word you said, but I will to the death defend your right to say it".
I agree. It is so nice to see real talk outside of the echo chamber.

will of the majority, and if theoretically the majority of usa becomes nonwhite you could have white slavery by that logic. since, you know, majority.
there’s a reason why minorities are shielded, and it mostly has to do with historically horrible treatment of them by the majority.
So under some-one else’s protection? sounds like slavery to me

That is not hate speech. That is inciting violence and is against the law.
These days speech equals violence. If you make someone uncomfortable, you have basically assaulted them.
This is the problem with "hate" speech.

I'm against limiting speech, because it should be know what stupid sh*t people say.
That does not mean they cannot be consequences, but there should be no law limiting what people say.

I'm also against removing Facebook posts or pages.
People should be able to counter them with comments and arguments.

Of course there is content that is inappropriate for minors, but that should not mean it should be hidden or removed from adult people and the public space.

By the way, there was someone who said right wing speech should be limited because of historical events.
I do not agree with that either, people should be exposed making right wing claims and trying to rewrite history.

The problem with the "extreme right" - especially in the US - ist that the term is applied to everything.

Did you just use the word "God"?
I, as an atheist find that word to be very offensive. This is 2018, not 1952. Bigot.

Nope, you're the typical reactionary caricature of an atheist, with a poor idea of the level of "offense" we're used to ignoring on a regular basis.

I know what it stands for, and I also know they are liars. Their actions, are fascist.

Nazi’s were socialists. Mussolini was a leftist. Read a damned book.

Antifa can say they are against anything they want. The label, doesn’t match their actions. Violence, oppression of free speech, intimidation, etc... they are fascists.

Must have struck a nerve, eh?

Probably, because you’re making a lot of big statements and telling other people to “read a damn book” while you yourself appear to have no idea what socialist, leftist, fascism and authoritarianism actually refer to. They are not synonyms for “things I don’t like”, which is how they’re being used here.

Reagan was a lefty union leader too. ...once. Was his presidency a socialist communist fascist monarchic dictatorship? Is the world and everyone in it static and unchanging, or does time pass? Are these actually governmental and economic models, or just convenient labels you can slap on your enemies?

Exactly. If you have terrible ideas or opinions, we need to see that. We need it brought into the light so your thoughts can be beaten down and you can be shamed. It does no good to hide it and let it fester. You do way more harm that way. Then the slippery slope problem of different opinions being labeled as hate speech. One day it could be something that you find as everyday/commonplace thought that is labeled hate speech. It could be your religion or even your job. (ICE and Police as examples)

As a German, I do hate nazi apologists like yourself with a passion, and I do strongly believe they must not be allowed to spread their vile beliefs and lies in public .
On the contrary, theeir statements should be collected, aggregated and we as a society should expose their arguments for what they are.

I do not understand how censoring social media, limiting news coverage or virtue signalling to minorities can help.
I'm from Germany as well. Our news is biased, people just don't care because we are still way better off than most european countries.

Please look at France, please look at Italy.
(If you find real reporting, that is.)

Do you work for Apple? Do you decide what they can and can't support? Didn't think so. It's almost as if the republicans in this thread want the government to step in and prevent Apple and other companies from making their own choices on what they choose to support and oppose on the platforms they created. It's a weird day when republicans come off as wanting the big bad government to control our capitalistic society. SMH.

Hypocrites.
We don't want any government action. We are just voicing an opinion. They can do what they want, they are a private company. It's just a flawed way to go about your business, IMO.

Being proud that you are white, black, Asian or whatever doesn't mean that you hate others!

Being white, black, Asian or whatever takes zero effort, so it’s nothing to be proud of. It’s also nothing to be ashamed of, but it shouldn’t be a source of pride. Be proud of your accomplishments, not things that you have no control over.

Many Democrats obviously don't consider racism against whites (and in some cases Asians) as hate speech, so the guy's point is valid. The (Bill) Gates Scholarship lists which races you can be to apply, and white and Middle Eastern aren't on there. Lots of "Affirmative Action" programs, which only Democrats support, are openly against whites. Worst part is the speech isn't even half the story there since these things are actually implemented. Similarly newspeople always say Palestine shouldn't be a country, but if you say anything against Israel, that's anti-semitism and gets you on the ADL's list. The whole multigender argument doesn't matter much other than them taking all my urinals away, but people have sides in it, and there's only one you can present on Facebook.

Why doesn't Tim Cuck stop supporting the people and organizations who implement such hatred? He seems like an awfully big hypocrite saying he is against hate while supporting those who implement hate.

I was recently in college and saw classes where you're taught that white people are born with some debt to others.

So many college "humanities" courses are just cultural marxist brainwashing. Brainwash kids to resent the anyone better off than they are by claiming they have a mystical "privilege" and that it's a "social injustice". Meanwhile, universities push actual social injustice through a racist application process under the feel-good marketing term of "affirmative action".

Thanks for showing your ignorance by judging my political standpoint based on one post. Are you sure youre a Democrat as you are so quick to the trigger and label me because I don’t fully agree with a certain ideology;)?

I’m actually a centrist left.

You can be proud to belong to a group of people that contributed to science, technology and the social fabric and rules that make up parts of the civilisation you live in.

Skin color or other physical properties are an obvious factor, this is why it is often used as a "marker" for group association.

I do believe that people that associated to form a society, whoever they might be, should be allowed to be proud of their heritage and accomplishments.

Well the comment means something entirely different to everyone, which is bound to do nothing but get people talking past each other.
It is a similar reaction to those who say, “There is no such thing as individual rights.”

It's the thing elementary school teachers complained to me about when I accidentally said someone is Black instead of African-American. Except I still don't know which one is preferable. The second doesn't even make sense if the person isn't American!
Most of my black friends get offended if I called them African-American. Seems to be a preference of each individual not the dictates of an authoritarian collective.

It’s one of the reasons a lot of people dislike him. His actions and mannerisms make him appear very sly in a not so good way

On a side note, I love how people spin affirmative action. “Your race is too dominating so we need to level the playing field to give other people a chance. It’s only fair”

Being proud to be an American is silly, especially if you were born in the US. It's nothing to be ashamed of, but you didn't do anything to earn it.

Did you miss the part where he had been harassing the holy living hell out of grieving parents and families who had their children murdered in cold blood by a lunatic gunman at Sandy Hook Elementary School?

"harassing the holy living hell out of grieving parents" what did he say and do? State just the facts, don't link to an opinion article from a guy pushing an agenda.

Did you miss the part where fake news media brought up events YEARS AFTER THE EVENTS OCCURRED and made it an outrage again?

Did you miss the part where fake news continued repeating their lie, even after he changed his INITIAL opinion and decided the events occurred and apologized to parents and viewers? Did you miss that apology? Were you aware it existed?

Did you miss the part where fake news ignored all of it and repeated their lie, which was then used as justification to de-platform and ban him under the guise of "stopping hate"? Were you paying attention?

Apple's iTunes podcast directory banned him and Big Tech followed. YouTube, Facebook, and eventually Twitter. Payment processor PayPal banned him. Mail Chimp banned him. More services banned him. Apple then banned the Infowars app. This was the most Orwellian and collusive thing I'd seen in recent time. And the media cheered it on. They deprived his voice, his ability to defend himself, and crippled his business under the guise of "stopping hate".

Then they did the same to Gab under the same guise of "stopping hate". And the media cheered.

Twitter and Facebook accelerated their purges of conservatives under the guise of "stopping hate". Go on Facebook and talk about "illegal aliens" (it's still a term) and see what happens. Go on Twitter and criticize "Female Genital Mutilation" and see what happens.

---

How is it hateful to say an event did not happen and that the parents are actors -- with some level of evidence at the time to think that way -- and then later change your mind and apologize?

Should the New York Times be banned everywhere for repeating the lie of "there are WMDS in Iraq" which led to an occupation and thousands of deaths? That seems more hateful. Did the New York Times ever apologize to every soldier who was injured or killed for perpetuating a lie that led to their condition?

Should Barack Obama be banned from all social media for bombing middle eastern countries and killing thousands? That seems very hateful.

How is what Alex Jones said worse than what others have said or did, where their events have led to actual death and suffering? Why does the NYT and Barack Obama still have a platform and unadulterated fawning from Big Tech and the fake news media?

Oh, AJ wasn't a liberal. That's what this "hate speech" BS is all about.

This is why I am an Apple customer. This, and respect for privacy.

I will suffer the junk keyboards.
I will suffer the miserly cheapness with cables, ports, power bricks, memory, and storage.
I will suffer the quality issues and lagging in innovation in software and cloud solutions.
I will suffer the prices which are no longer “for the rest of us”

There are so few ethical technology companies. Zuck, Sandberg, the Google buffoons, the sociopathers....the list goes on an on. So I chose Apple.

I am proud to be a customer, flaws in the products and all.
Zuck, Sandberg and the Google buffoons have been practicing censorship long before Apple... if that's what you're after and you seem to hate the products so much I honestly think Android/Windows is for you.

100%
You do not have to agree with Alex Jones to see the evil nature of the above.
This is totalitarian, although not the government.

Doesn’t the "Right of Free Speech" mean you can put forward any ideology, however terrible, and let the people decide if it's good?

Or should someone be monitoring it? (which means you haven't got free speech)
Uh, the morally superior should actively prevent anyone from wrongspeak or wrongthought. Otherwise how can we spread the wonderful promises of socialism creating a single minded collective secure from the pests of any contradictory true thoughts across the the globe for all humankind?

Bingo. ADL says a cartoon frog is hate speech. ADL and Southern Poverty Law Center are Leftist, perpetually-offended lunacy.

Don't ever let them memory-hole what happened to Pepe. Remember how it went down:

Pepe was used for YEARS, in chat apps like Hipchat, by celebs like Katy Perry and others, on social media -- it was a ubiquitous reaction meme. Pepe only became "hate speech" once the meme went big and was used mostly by the right in the 2016 election. The left can't meme, so CNN commissioned a KKK Pepe to show to their viewers as evidence of the frog standing for "white supremacy" and other BS. How do we know this? Google Image Search returned 0 results for CNN's manufactured Pepe immediately after they showed it. Then the ADL came out and said Pepe was hate speech and the rest of the Fake News media repeated that everywhere.

That's how simple it is to make hate speech out of something. Ignore history, ignore culture, cherry pick or manufacture a single result, control the discussion, have a faux authority declare what you want, repeat the lie everywhere.

Tim Cook has doubled-down on the wrong side of history.
