We got our own whacko socialist government to deal with in Canada. Not much is going to happen to us in the north, but we are watching your classroom clown Boris Johnson, with a close eye.

Haha! Boris is indeed a clown. An Oxford-educated, hugely successful editor of The Spectator, mind you. But I concede the point.

Taking a political stance is a brilliant move to discourage potential buyers of Apple products, because as we all know, Apple had such a fantastic year in 2016 releasing the best products in Apples history that they just can't make enough of them anyways.

The problem for all the left wingers criticising this move is Trump was voted in by the American public to do this. It was clearly promised before he was voted in.

well it leaves me buying less stuff until corporations realize they aren't selling as much and then lower their profit margins to lower the prices

the things I need to survive arent made in china
Or designing quality products rather than throw-away products. It wasn't so long ago that you didn't just toss your TV set or washing machine when it stopped working....

They could be made in the US and still cost the same money as now...
The reason Macs are so expensive is because Apple is marketing is products as some luxury items that are made out of some exotic materials that are rare on earth.

I completely agree with you.

It's just, I believe if Apple were to bring manufacturing back to the US, they would increase the price instead of keeping it the same and losing profit margin.

He was voted in by a minority of the people. He has no mandate. It's his to earn and so far he hasn't. To be fair the last guy in his position had help with a defining moment but still...

Because it's hurting Apple's employees.
Apple is not the only tech company to be hurt by this.

If it's that serious then be willing to put hard numbers out there so everybody can ascertain the real extent of this situation. In the mean time the big tech companies can put their money behind their affected employees if they really want to be SJW's. I say put up or shut up.

He was voted in by Electoral vote. He lost the popular vote. This is not a democracy.
You can see by the #CalExit, Women March, and lack of a crowd at the inauguration that most people did NOT support him.

Tim Cook is 100% right to stand up for his employees. You need more CEO's with his attitude. Even the right wing Daily Mail in the UK (typical headline:- immigrants cause cancer and make your cat die) is sceptical, thought the comments contain plenty of nasty fascist nonsense.

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-4167812/Donald-Trump-DEFENDS-immigration-ban-order.html

Look at the first two photos. Have you ever seen a more uncomfortable-looking bunch of people in the background?

I think that in the next few days, policy will change rapidly, though maybe not publicly, and a lot of green card holders will be allowed in. Surely these people have the right to reside in the USA. They may have no other home. He's screwed up big time...and it won't be the last time!

Shame on you, Trump. This is an abhorrent, nasty, fascist policy that will do nothing to protect the USA. Statistically, as a UK citizen, I am more likely to be a terrorist in your country than a Libyan. I picked a Libyan as I often visit Tripoli and have yet to meet anyone who wants to harm me. I'll be in tripoli next week. I bet most of the supporters of this policy couldn't even find the country on a map.

PS:- The Daily Mail headline probably isn't real!

Rather pathetic that some here seem to forget that had Trump's ban been in effect in the 50's this man (and subsequently none of us) would be here today

That's the way Presidents are elected in the US ... don't blame Trump ... you don't like the US electoral system protest for change.
Been protesting since I first learned about it in middle school. Funny how people are finally listening to me about that after seeing this election

For a land where dreams come true it's a very convoluted voting system.
I thought that was just California

Jeez how come you people don't understand the gravity of this situation?
Of course he has to say something about an issue like this.
People have to speak out against blatant racism. Steve Jobs probably would've never come to the US in the first place if Trump wouldve been in power back in the day. Remember he's halve Iranian?? You know what people in Iran are? CORRECT: MUSLIMS!!!
He was Syrian

I don't understand. Why is the ban only for 120/90 days? Seems like a waste of effort. Either leave it alone or do the job properly.

It's long enough for Trump to say he did it, and "fixed the problems". That's enough for Trump supporters, and enough for Trump. It's all about Trump. Move on....

People who scoff at the point that Steve Jobs would be banned miss the point.

Steve Jobs got in, he made Apple, it worked out amazingly well for America.

Tomorrow's Steve Jobs will settle elsewhere. It will workout amazingly for that other particular country and jobs and capital will flow their way. America will lose. Even if this ban is lifted tomorrow. The next Steve Jobs will have good enough reservations to look for anywhere but America.
Technically his father got in but your point is sound

Some would disagree. MLK has been accused of being a Communist and his Civil Rights Movement is very left wing like.

MLK correctly pointed out that racism is a very non-Christian feeling. The left has always used racist feelings, whenever it appeared among conservatives, as a weapon against them, hence the similarity. MLK defended strict non-violence, even when confronted with violence, and the importance of the individual's moral strength. For me those are things that run counter to what communism, and the left in general, is all about.

I don't deserve that, because I didn't elect those idiots and I didn't vote to leave.
Well, I mean in general 'the people' as a collective. Democratic government gives us the closest to the government the people deserve. More so the case when you have two options on the table. Less so when you have more than two.

Unless of course you live in a dictatorship. They are lucky not to suffer Arrow's Impossibility Theorem! :p

Just focus on your products Tim. No need to drag Apple into every political issue.
You're the one dragging him into political issues by clicking on this link and commenting on a story. He has every right to his opinion as a citizen and also as the CEO of his company. This was an internal memo sent to hundreds of thousands of employees he oversees. He didn't make any public statements about this act or most of the other stories on Apple rumor sites. If you don't want to hear his political views, then you are going about it the wrong way.

You mean they would have banned your God ... never mix religion with politics.
Religion and politics are two branches on the same tree. A poisonous and evil tree.

As an example let's look at the golden age of Islam. 800 to 1100 AD then comes 12th century Hamid Al-Ghazali basically convinces everyone that algebra is the work of the devil. What good comes out of that? Nothing. Whole intellectual foundation collapsed and has not recovered sine.

Revelation has since replaced investigation. Game over.
