Apple CEO Tim Cook on Immigration Executive Order: 'It is Not a Policy We Support'

I believe the police have a very difficult job and we should support them. I also believe that those of wrong doing within the police force aren't being brought to justice.

race has nothing to do with being mentally unstable as in the case of sandy hook

What I'm saying is all acts of terror is terrorism regardless of race.

So how many employees, exactly, does Apple have in Iraq, Iran, Somalia, Sudan, Libya, Syria, and Yemen? If the answer is ZERO, then Tim is full of crap.

Shouldn't he focus on his job? If he wants to be like Obama and take vacation to do something else...well..there's an alternative route for him to take. I didn't realize Tim Cook was the Mac rumor administrator.

And protecting his, i.e. Apple's, employees is not his job? Are you really that clueless?

If the CEOs from google, Microsoft, IBM, Oracle, Texas Instruments, HP, Tesla, etc were facing the same issue with respect to their employees, and spoke to their employees internally via company email, would you be so similarly OUTRAGED? Why does it bother you so much?

Let's not get all teary eyed ... NATO has become their own worst enemy ... they didn't need any help from Trump to get them there. NATO loves the talk of build-up, but then never convert that to action.

You don't get it do you? NATO *is* the United States. It is its primary executor of power in Europe. If NATO doesn't want to act, it's the US doesn't want to 'convert that', to you use your words.

The US uses NATO as a stick to influence European affairs. You lose the stick, you lose NATO, and guess which of the other major powers benefits?

Yes, I know. It was just to make a point that a terrorist spreads terror... and it is not measured by numbers killed. Someone who is threatening the USA in the media and makes people to **** in their pants has already succeeded in his job. Closing borders is one way to **** in your pants. That happened here too in some extend...

There are more than five million muslims in France. So, if Trumps fears are true, there should be already a huge crater here... and nothing else.

My heart died a little inside seeing the number of upvotes this comment received.

Likely the same people who are ignorant of the fact that Steve Jobs was the son of a Syrian immigrant to the US.

The level of ignorance here as to it being Tim Cook's job to look out for Apple's immigrant employees, and to communicate his and the company's views to their employee base at large, is astonishing.

Yeah, we witnessed that "one for all, all for one" mission statement in Ukraine and the US drawing that red line in the sand with respect to Syria.

That Obama, as they used to say about JFK ... "talked like Churchill, acted like Chamberlain"

That's crap. The USA takes hardly refugees in. It took in half as many refugees last year than countries 1/10th your size.

And thank god for that! I'm from Sweden and also spend time in Germany every year. The third world immigration and refugee situation in both those countries are completely out of control. No-go zones, honor killings, rapes, vandalism, increased crime in general and a massive cost to the taxpayer to support the mostly non-working refugees economically. Why are we doing this? It makes no sense. Bringing in mass numbers of illiterate people (mostly men) from cultures that are not compatible with western values is a recipe for disaster. And the refugees are not happy either, by the way. It would have been much better (and cheaper) for everyone to help them in their own part of the world instead.

Because of a steady inflow of immigration from the middle east over the past two-three decades, the city I grew up in, the third largest in Sweden, is now 1/3 Muslim. I have nothing against Muslims per se, but I would prefer not to become a minority in my own country in a couple of decades. Especially since I don't think the Muslims will be as nice to us as we have been to them...

lmao, I don't mind you pivoting from Trump to Obama to deflect attention. It's just funny.

And it goes without saying the only time Article 5 was initiated was after 9/11. European NATO members came to the table when the US pushed Article 5 ....

Hmm, Trump picks seven countries that have at most tangential and insignificant connections to any terror attacks on US soil and bans travel. Yet countries such as Russia, Saudi Arabia and the UK - nationals from which are actually responsible for terror attacks on US soil, he conveniently ignores.

I mean it could be because banning travel might prevent the US from selling arms to it's number one importer in Saudi Arabia and integral to his business ties. Or it could be because he likes Putin so much and wants to be his best friend. Or it could be because the leader of the UK just left and is a major trading partner and usually the only one that will help the US with military action ...

nah. It's for genuine security reasons obviously. Those countries are not a threat at all. Nope. No terrorists there. I mean even if the UK has had multiple Islamic terrorist attacks by nationals against it's own citizens and was the residence of a known Muslim radical for years and the government is foiling terrorist activities on it's own soil regularly ...

Still, at least it keeps the Trump fans entertained with another smoke and mirrors magic show. Then they can all forget about the pesky medical plan that still hasn't appeared, or a sensible option to fund a massive concrete wall across the country for free ...

just another day watching the circus.

Terrorism is to use violence to create fear in order to achieve political, religious, or ideological aim. So no, it's not measured by numbers killed.

Deal with it? There's nothing to deal with. Right...i knew there were hardcore SJW in this thread.

There is nothing to deal with? Sure there is, with reality to name one. Trust me, it wont hurt you. Tim Cook is perfectly entitled to speak his mind, and when that right is no more then it's really time to worry.

Trump is right! Apple has better things to be concerned about! Trump left out china, they want their citizens to enter the western world as part of a free trade deal. Deal with china!

it's a political issue that negatively hurts his employees which is probably why he's coming out against it.

Tim outsources his products for cheap labor and then charge premium on U.S consumers. it hurts U.S consumers and jobs. why did he not come out and talk about that issue? why Tim just talks about this immigration issue only?

so Tim decided to involve in politics selectively?

so you answered your own question about why Sandy Hook wasn't considered terrorism
