There is nothing to deal with? Sure there is, with reality to name one. Trust me, it wont hurt you. Tim Cook is perfectly entitled to speak his mind, and when that right is no more then it's really time to worry.
Now..I don't know what the heck you're talking about.

Answer this and we're done.

Are you preventative or reactive? Just answer that.

So, did he support the summary execution of foreign nationals via drone? How about US citizens?

Why does Cook have to say anything at all? Is he going to make a statement about every Executive Order now?
Jeez how come you people don't understand the gravity of this situation?
Of course he has to say something about an issue like this.
People have to speak out against blatant racism. Steve Jobs probably would've never come to the US in the first place if Trump wouldve been in power back in the day. Remember he's halve Syrian?? You know what people in Syria are? CORRECT: MUSLIMS!!!

Trump's falsehood and blatant racism just becomes even more obvious when you consider that he doesnt even deny people access that are from the really bad places, like saudi arabia and so on. Oh but why? Because he has personal business interests there!

Anybody who will say anything about how bad Hillary would've been in light of the events of the past 7 days is either blind or ignorant or just stupid.

I too think it's hilarious ... Obama did SFA while in term, and now, you elitists believe that Trump is driving the family station wagon into the proverbial ditch, at every turn ... get over yourselves.

The international system is built on rules and norms. They won't bend. Not even for someone who uses 'Bigly' as a verb. We are already witnessing Pacific allies like the Philippines moving towards China after he ripped up TPP.

Like I said, you deserve the politicians you elect. The only beneficiaries of the next four years will be the Trump estate. Look at the ban, where hasn't he banned? Oh, the countries that he has interests in and the ones whose nationals have ACTUALLY terrorised America. The American people will be waaaaaay down his list of interests.

This. A million times this.
It is truly hypocritical that people are going crazy and want to make the rest of us believe that Trump is the worst human being ever existed because he offends with his words minorities, while they don't blink an eye when the US bombed the hell out of innocent men, women and children in Serbia, Afghanistan, Iraq etc. all those years.

Tim outsources his products for cheap labor and then charge premium on U.S consumers. it hurts U.S consumers and jobs. why did he not come out and talk about that issue? why Tim just talks about this immigration issue only?

so Tim decided to involve in politics selectively?

do you want macs made in the us so that they cost even more money?

Tim Cook should stop misappropriating MLK's words. This has reached the point of ridiculousness. MLK was a conservative who believed that Christianity should play an important role in the moral formation of all human beings, and of blacks in particular. To turn him into some sort of golden calf of liberal politics is insulting.

Just focus on your products Tim. No need to drag Apple into every political issue.

Because I was not a Socialist.

Then they came for the Trade Unionists, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a Trade Unionist.

Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a Jew.

Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me."

Scary that people say "focus on products not politics."

Couldn't that be said for anyone? Why don't you all just focus on your jobs and not comment on politics at all?
Thats exactly what Trump wants. Just shut up and go about your lives. While your head is turned I'll be dismantling the constitution by issuing multiple executive orders! WTF?

They could be made in the US and still cost the same money as now...
The reason Macs are so expensive is because Apple is marketing is products as some luxury items that are made out of some exotic materials that are rare on earth.

what is Apple's profit margin on each iPhone sold?

I applaud President Trump's action. Not because I hate immigrants, but because I think it's important to find out who's actually coming into your country. If you let in every single person blindly, you're only putting your people at risk. And one of the primary jobs of the leader of a country, is to keep his people safe. And by signing this executive order, Trump (or at least those who are in charge of the nation's security) is given time to find out who they really are.

It's controversial, I get that. Especially since America has been the country of the free etc. etc. And it's not something I would support all the time. Not at all, in fact. But if this can help the Trump administration to come up with ideas to make America safe again (or to speak for the liberals: to keep America safe), I believe it's the best way. It's only temporary after all..

By the way, I do think green card holders should be allowed to enter the United States, because, well... it's a green card, right? Don't think he will, but Trump should definitely change the order to allow those people.

Oh, this letter to me sounds a bit whiny, to be honest. Mr. Cook should focus on his products, not politics.
your profile picture says it all. You don't hate immigrants no. You JUST happen to support the people who do.

Why does Cook have to be publicly concerned about politics? It's not like it'll change Trump's ideas.

I could quote every single person in this thread who doesn't understand how this works. The constitution won't protect itself. You, the people have to fill it with life.

People who scoff at the point that Steve Jobs would be banned miss the point.

Steve Jobs got in, he made Apple, it worked out amazingly well for America.

Tomorrow's Steve Jobs will settle elsewhere. It will workout amazingly for that other particular country and jobs and capital will flow their way. America will lose. Even if this ban is lifted tomorrow. The next Steve Jobs will have good enough reservations to look for anywhere but America.

Isn't this the same guy who does business with communist China?

You are likely thinking of the CEOs of Microsoft, HP, Google, Oracle, Texas Instruments, Samsung, Phillips, eBay, IBM, Intel, Cisco, Hitachi, Western Digital, Dell, and every other medium to large company in the world.

well it leaves me buying less stuff until corporations realize they aren't selling as much and then lower their profit margins to lower the prices

And when they lower prices they can't afford to pay salaries for the employees you so selflessly helped

Some would disagree. MLK has been accused of being a Communist and his Civil Rights Movement is very left wing like.
