Wow that's a lot of replies. Far too many to read, but I'm guessing the general idea is that Mr. Cook shouldn't be diverting resources to sending emails when he could be in the workshop machining a new Mac mini prototype from a billet of aloominum. He should definitely be fired, I'm quite sure :D

In all seriousness though I do personally think that Apple should minimise their public involvement in political issues. I understand the letter implies Apple is directly affected, but, hmmm...possibly more from a political viewpoint than an actual practical one. Obviously I do not pretend to know many of the facts, but I have a hard time imagining there are many Apple employees stranded at airports in orange jumpsuits. Most likely some are just offended.

I think the general idea is nobody cares what TC says or thinks only what his company does. So yeah

I used to be a Democrat until I realize how the liberal media have brainwashed the general population, aka sheeps.

Trump: Limit immigration from countries that have high rate of terrorists.

Liberal media: Trump is banning immigration! Go out and riot! He also hates Mexican! Burn that American flag!

Funny watching all of the same liberals who praised Trump before he ran as a Republican for President continue the 'fake news' assault against him. Hell, some of these progressives were in Congress when Jimmy Carter banned immigration from Iran and the force

So, did he support the summary execution of foreign nationals via drone? How about US citizens?

Why does Cook have to say anything at all? Is he going to make a statement about every Executive Order now?
I suspect it will be limited to those that have negative impact on Apple bottom line.

Just focus on your products Tim. No need to drag Apple into every political issue.
Completely agree to that. I wish they got as hungry on their products as they are on their political statements. But looks like USA is no longer a democracy

But if this can help the Trump administration to come up with ideas to make America safe again (or to speak for the liberals: to keep America safe), I believe it's the best way. It's only temporary after all.

Keep USA safe from who terrorists? Most incidents have been caused by US citizens. None of 9/11 attackers came from any of the countries banned by Trump ex order. Such bans will have no impact in limiting "Home grown" acts of terror by lunatics.

That's why Tim Cook and these other celebrities are such hypocrites. They don't let every single person that shows up at their mansion in their house. So why should we do it as a country?

The same thing goes for the border wall. These celebrities live in mansions surrounded by 15 foot walls and then complain when Trump proposes a border wall.

Celebrities are hypocritical egomaniacs to begin with. They think because they have millions of dollars and make movies. music or play a sport that their opinion is more important than any other American. Anyone who bases their opinions solely off what a favorite celebrity says, is a fool.

Yes Tim, yesterday's order is going to hurt innovation and not your focus on profits above all. Focus on products Tim, or build more factories and R&D centres outside US...immigration policy is not stopping you, you can work around it like you do with tax.

Sounds like you're recommending Tim Cook turn his back on affected Apple employees in the US and should oblige and roll over at trump's behest. Imagine the message that would send throughout Apple and other companies in the valley here.

Fortunately, Cook's a stand-up guy and has their back, sending the right message to the rest of Apple's employees and the government. Tip-o-my-hat to Tim Cook for doing the right thing, caring for his employees, and leading by example.

Wonder if the CEOs of google, IBM, Dell, Samsung, Oracle, Tesla, HP, Phillips, eBay, Adobe, AMD, Altera, SanDisk, Cisco, Nvidia, Facebook, Twitter, Intel, and many other companies here in silicon valley have their immigrant employees' backs?

you do realize this trump ban is temporary until the government gets their **** together for the vetting process?
You do realize we already have an extensive vetting process in place, and Trump is primarily doing this to make it look like he's in charge? He can stop things for a while, f**king up a lot of people's lives, then start it back up mostly unchanged later on, and take credit for "putting a vetting process in place" (which is how Fox News will report it). A lot of his followers seem to think that just anybody can walk in now with no checking. But then there's Trump supporters right here in this thread who don't understand there's a difference between workers legally here on a green card and illegal immigrants.

Less than half of voters voted for him. Hillary won the popular vote.

Tim we don't support your direction of Apple. Stop playing politics and focus on providing us with decent products again which don't require a second mortgage
or gimped.

You can draw that comparison to an extent, but there is a major difference there. Trump has very strong opinions and went out, ran for and got elected as president. Whether you support him, voted for him or hate him, I give respect to him for doing that. He took on politics in the political world as opposed to these other celebs standing up at some awards ceremony or public appearance that has nothing to do with politics and whining and crying about political things they agree or disagree with.

sweet, you just described trump & his supporters

Can't believe how the losers keep pointing to the popular vote as their measure. Trump won the election just as every other president has, through the electoral college, from the beginning of time ... you don't like the electoral college ... protest for that change, until then, shut it.

Now..I don't know what the heck you're talking about.

Now why am I not suprized? ;)

Answer this and we're done. Are you preventative or reactive? Just answer that.

That depends on the context, that is when you considder "thinking about a situation before acting' is something worth consideration. Intelligent leaders don't lean on just one of the two approaches you're stating here.

And let me ask you, why do you bother buying a color tv when everything looks black and white to you?

Steve Jobs' biological father was a Syrian immigrant. Steve apparently was conceived while his biological parents were on holiday in Syria.

His American mother's family were apparently deeply opposed to the relationship because the father was a Muslim. They wouldn't agree to let the couple to get married and pushed her to give Steve up for adoption. He spoke about it to Walter Isacsson in his official biography.

American racism: dividing families for generations.

Oh yeah sorry he didn't get the overpopulation votes in the cities...how dare our constitution prevent that!!! Proof in the pudding he is our president now...yu don't like it?, leave. Yu better learn to start saying Merry Christmas, God Bless You, and not worry your daugher will be in a target bathroom with some dude who calls himself a girl because he identifies that way...thank the Lord for this man
So, basically you want everyone out of the country who isn't a straight Christian farmer? Neat.

Tim Cook does not like this policy of Trump. We get it.
However the vast majority of the counties in the US do. They voted on it in the election. This immigration policy was one of Trump's big election promises. Trump is actually doing what he said he would in his election campaign.

The US people gave Trump the mandate to do this by voting him in as president. This is not somehting Trump has brought up out of the blue. Trump said he would do this if elected almost 2 years ago and kept saying it over and over.

Trump wants Apple to thrive. Trump will not let the US largest corporation do any worse than it is now. Cook should be working with Trump for a better Apple, not be one of the complaining democrats who keeps hating everything Trump does.

Extremist Islamic Terrorism needs to be stoped within the USA. As Trump said this is only a temoprary measure until they work out how to separate the radicals from the aveage muslim. Then they average muslims can go to the USA. I do think there needs to be a better way to solve this problem, but I am not sure that one exists. It's a tough issue to solve because the extremist islamic terrorists jsut blemd into the otherwise average population. FInding them before they commit their extremist terrorists attacks is very tough indeed.

Who really cares what he supports? He should not have any say on this.
Of cause he should have a say. And he did just like the whole nation had their say in the november election. If you hated this election promise, you didn't vote Trump. Enough counties did like this election promise so they voted Trump in.

Apple and TIM should SHUT THE F UP if he wants to do something about it start his own party. Fu political correctness is pis me off.

That is because many don't understand the electoral vote or the fact that people think differently on many issues in different areas of the country. Four states make up roughly 1/3 of the US population. Those people alone shouldn't get the total say on all 50 states. The bigger issue to address would be having more states change their laws so they can split electoral votes like Maine and Nebraska do instead of going the 100% route.

And thank god for that! I'm from Sweden and also spend time in Germany every year. The third world immigration and refugee situation in both those countries are completely out of control. No-go zones, honor killings, rapes, vandalism, increased crime in general and a massive cost to the taxpayer to support the mostly non-working refugees economically. Why are we doing this? It makes no sense. Bringing in mass numbers of illiterate people (mostly men) from cultures that are not compatible with western values is a recipe for disaster. And the refugees are not happy either, by the way. It would have been much better (and cheaper) for everyone to help them in their own part of the world instead.

Because of a steady inflow of immigration from the middle east over the past two-three decades, the city I grew up in, the third largest in Sweden, is now 1/3 Muslim. I have nothing against Muslims per se, but I would prefer not to become a minority in my own country in a couple of decades. Especially since I don't think the Muslims will be as nice to us as we have been to them...

This is pure paranoia talk.

Sure, there are cities within Europe with ethnic problems, like suburbs close to Paris, cities in Belgium and sure, some in Sweden and Germany as well. But when you look at the facts then there is no such thing as 'Muslims taking over the country' that's food for psychologists. Take my country for example, the netherlands, it's been investigated and calculated that the muslim population in total will not go beyond 10% by the year 2050. Now you tell me, how does 10% could take over a nation? Take that in mind when the muslims don't even have a political party, just for them, that would be able to change the political rules of the game.

You have seriously watched to many times The Manchurian Candidate, by suggesting that any muslim is some kind of a ticking time-bomb because they supposedly have one "hidden" agenda and that is to take over the world. Again, that's food for psychologists to deal with.

No, like I said, there are tensions in some suburban neighborhoods, also in various cities across Europe, but all of these situations can be explained by the social and economic status of the area. Where ethnic based rioting occur there is always a high level of unemployment rate and lack of perspective to be seen in the same area. Deal with that and you deal directly with the problems like rioting and crime.
There is no such thing as a "hidden" plan where just one of the religious groups are dealing with, and it also doesn't have anything to do with both religion or race. Where there is high unemployment rate and lack of any kind of perspective for the future you can expect problems.

Now, you either deal with the real issues with real solutions or you can make these problems even bigger by silly paranoia talks about "muslims wanting to take over the world" and by further more polarizing the society.

I'm astonished that so many people, who presumably have the wits to operate an iPhone, are siding with this maniac in the White House and his amateur power-crazed cronies. He's doing nothing for America, even with this ridiculous stunt. Anyone who thinks people are streaming into the USA without vetting have clearly never passed through US customs with a non-US passport. It's a fantasy, concocted by the Liar in Chief, to scare weak witted Americans, and then impress them with his strongman act. It's all about the Trump brand. It's so transparent, it is so predictable, you would have to be deliberately blinding yourself not to see it.

Americans are going to die because of this. You have a complete amateur in charge with no idea about the world's complexities. Moderate muslims are enraged. ISIS are laughing themselves silly that American informants and allies are being humiliated and turned away at the gates. People fleeing persecution in ISIS controlled territories, are being sent back for more. ISIS are already broadcasting to their cowed population that America has turned it back on them and they should just knuckle under and sign up. A quarter of the world's population is insulted, for the sake of a handful of terrorists. And more mentally unstable people, who just happen to be muslim Americans, are going to snap. On top of all the obvious insanity, it's unconstitutional and the usual band of Constitution-thumpers suddenly don't mind looking the other way while people are detained without due process. You pick and choose your amendments I guess.

Since Tim Cook is not going to "shut up" you're better of finding a good therapist in order to get some grip on your hysterical emotions when Tim Cook once again speaks out against Trump. Because for your information, Tim Cook is entitled to say anything any time he wants, just like you and me. Deal with it.

Good luck with your emotions.
