Just focus on your products Tim. No need to drag Apple into every political issue.

But Apple can certainly drag itself into Apple issues, would you agree? This executive order is affecting Apple employers directly. So their boss it giving them a heads up about what they're doing to help those affected.

It just seems like a responsible thing to do, to try to take care of your employees like that.

many of these barbaric muslims probably don't even think global warming and darwinism are real lol

oh wait

Btw not all muslims are barbaric only a minority are like that and for those who are like that, sure they don't believe in darwinism like many christian and jewish fundamentalists it's whether Adam and Eve or Homo sapiens not both. Many muslim countries are poor they couldn't care less about global warming like many other poor nations. As per global warming itself I don't know if it's real or the earth is going through its natural cycle of climate change I need to document myself more b/c mainstream media has proven itself to be very unreliable.

It saddens me that so many in this thread support this decision by Trump.
I applaud President Trump's action. Not because I hate immigrants, but because I think it's important to find out who's actually coming into your country. If you let in every single person blindly, you're only putting your people at risk..

You ever heard of a visa? - Just for me to travel to the USA (I'm a UK citizen, born in the UK etc) I have to apply 6 weeks before I travel and have extensive background checks performed.

There is no flim-flam open door to get into the USA, are you all brainwashed or something? No one is coming in blindly.

Why does Cook have to be publicly concerned about politics? It's not like it'll change Trump's ideas.

So he shouldn't be concerned about the employees of Apple who have no doubt already been impacted by this? Should Sergey Brin not have been at the protests about this either?

Should Tim also shouldn't be concerned about privacy now not applying to non US citizens? Are you not concerned that Apple do not now legally have to concern themselves with that? If you aren't I can assure you, the rest of the world is.

Oh yeah sorry he didn't get the overpopulation votes in the cities...how dare our constitution prevent that!!! Proof in the pudding he is our president now...yu don't like it?, leave. Yu better learn to start saying Merry Christmas, God Bless You, and not worry your daugher will be in a target bathroom with some dude who calls himself a girl because he identifies that way...thank the Lord for this man

The Electoral College exists so that California or New York doesn't elect the President based on population alone.

No wonder democrats want to abolish it.

It's not black and white, everyone is acting like Trump has banned all Muslims... no he's just banned them from ISIS prone areas for a short while. Now yeah this is just going to fuel terrorism and probably isn't a smart move, but it's not a racist move.

First of all, the world is always changing. You make it sound like this is a rare thing. Secondly, if Trump, and you, are so afraid of a political Islam, why not banning Saudi Arabia? Or people from Pakistan? It's a rhetorical question, the answer is simple and explains Trump's and his supporters hypocrite stand in all of this; interest.

The U.S. under Obama administration helped arming groups like Nusra Front who are an affiliate of Al Qaeda who apply Sharia law who their former leader was Bin Laden who was responsible of the 9/11. I don't think Trump is against Islam or muslims he is against Islamism, its the political agenda and its extremist and sever ideology.

You are right Trump should have put Saudi Arabia first on the list I think it's because of U.S. interests like you said but without a doubt things gonna get sour for the dictatorial regime in Saudi Arabia the main sponsor of chaos around the world.

The temporary ban will not stop attacks and surely not by allowing people coming by the thousands without vetting.

Last but not least immigration is not right it is a privilege and as I said to another person this is a temporary measure until things become clearer.

If a ban on immigration from these countries fuels terrorism as you said, why doesn't a visa/passport ban on Israeli passport holders by 16 countries fuel it?

A colder and more unfeeling Apple is not an Apple I want to be a part of.

Apple is a cold, calculating company.

Can't believe how the losers keep pointing to the popular vote as their measure. Trump won the election just as every other president has, through the electoral college, from the beginning of time ... you don't like the electoral college ... protest for that change, until then, shut it.

Exactly. The Electoral College exists so that CA or NY doesn't decide the election for the rest of the country based on population alone.
[doublepost=1485689843][/doublepost]
Ah... it's like the good ol Bush days... Lets ban a bunch of countries that have had nothing to even do with past terrorism incidents in America!!! Saudi Arabia the country that brought you most of the 9/11 terrorists and Bin Laden is totally cool to send people over. Fear fear! It's not the mass shootings and lax gun laws you need to be afraid about! It's these students and people who bring hope and American ideals to the close minded countries they live in! We need to stop it!!!

You people are a joke!

President Obama stopped processing Iraqi refugees for 6 months in 2011.

http://abcnews.go.com/Blotter/al-qa...terrorists-country-refugees/story?id=20931131

As a result of the Kentucky case, the State Department stopped processing Iraq refugees for six months in 2011, federal officials told ABC News – even for many who had heroically helped U.S. forces as interpreters and intelligence assets.

This gives Jihadist fuel for fire.
Doesn't solve anything is a bad idea and seems like he is just owning up to a campaign promise.

Jihadist fuel? That's such a ridiculous myth.

Here's the visa ban list for Israeli Passport Holders...

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Visa_requirements_for_Israeli_citizens

16 countries ban them... and their response to it is?

By your logic, don't lock your door because it might anger a robber.

First of all, this is not the case. Not every CEO speaks out against Trump. Secondly, in Tim Cook's his case in all of this, he's merely speaking out because Trump's actions efects Apple's business and Apple's philosophical stand in all of this.

Apple pays very little tax in America so should get very little say in America's policies.

I am surprised to see so many readers support the executive order.
The executive order challenges to human rights, and the President appears he even does not know what are human rights.
I am simply embarrassed.

A nation has the right to enforce its borders... unless you don't believe in borders.

Please cite me the codified human right... in law... to come into the USA.

This isn't an emotional argument.

What is wrong with people? How can it be OK to target entire countries with the vast majority of those being Muslim? The same hate speech during the campaign is becoming reality. This so called president of the free world is using a sledgehammer to drive in a nail. You can't just go to the far extremes overnight to solve a problem that has existed for decades. Both parties need to be involved for agreement because when the next Democrat or sensible Republican takes office these laws will be reversed.
And how can "Mr. Cook" focus on products when he has employees in those countries affected by this action? That's the problem with Trump supporters; it sounds good on paper until the ugly truth smacks you in the face.

You're just being ignorant now!

Even the tech forums are divided now.

All Israeli passport holders are banned from 16 countries.

How do you feel about that?

Every person on earth has the right to have a 'say' on policies on whatever country they can think of. That is, within countries where there is such thing called democracy and freedom of thoughts and speech. Clearly aspects on which you are not fan of.
Stating your thoughts about policies doesn't come with paying taxes or not. Fact.

Nope, they do NOT believe in borders. The whackjobs want one big country. For real. Never mind sovereignty, defending your nation or any of that. They won't have it. It's one big group hug. This isn't surprising though, it's what happens when public school systems and universities indoctrinate young people into believing in this crap. USA bad, global everything good. Yeah, great.

So if one sheep jumps of a cliff you follow. Right....

Way to simplistic to come up with sophism.

He didn't need to get half the votes. That's the system the founders set up... and it's elected presidents from both parties.

The system the founders have set up has been changed, not for the good, during the past decades. Typical you left that out of the discussion. Don't you people get history lessons?

I'm asking your opinion on that.

Is it to keep those countries safe from Israeli's or is that anti-semitism?

I do not support Netanyahu because I don't care about this person. The ban will not last forever it will be lifted once the picture is clearer and once we know who is behind and financing the radicalization of the young muslims.

Saudi Arabia, for instance. It's been well documented that powerful people in Saudi Arabia are financing fighting groups within Syria, groups on which the west, including America, consider being terrorist groups. You honestly think Trump will banned that country? Now that's would be something what I call humor.

If you let in every single person blindly, you're only putting your people at risk. And one of the primary jobs of the leader of a country, is to keep his people safe. And by signing this executive order, Trump (or at least those who are in charge of the nation's security) is given time to find out who they really are.

It's controversial, I get that. Especially since America has been the country of the free etc. etc. And it's not something I would support all the time. Not at all, in fact. But if this can help the Trump administration to come up with ideas to make America safe again (or to speak for the liberals: to keep America safe), I believe it's the best way. It's only temporary after all..

By the way, I do think green card holders should be allowed to enter the United States, because, well... it's a green card, right? Don't think he will, but Trump should definitely change the order to allow those people.

Oh, this letter to me sounds a bit whiny, to be honest. Mr. Cook should focus on his products, not politics.

This decision doesn't increase security what so ever. To get a VISA or green card, you're already screened. When you apply for a VISA, several countries have to send data about the applicant.

This only makes the life of regular citizens more difficult, and for their employers as well who wonder where they are after just going for a week long holiday.

Exactly. The countries that are *actually* creating trouble are not the targets of this bigoted decision.

Half of those banned countries are (also ?) banned by Israel itself.

As for the rest, do you really want the US to be compared to these ??

16 countries forbid admission to Israeli Passport holders.

In addition, Iran, Kuwait, Lebanon, Libya, Saudi Arabia, Sudan, Syria and Yemen do not allow entry to people with evidence of travel to Israel, or whose passports have either a used or an unused Israeli visa.

As a consequence, many countries will allow for a second passport to be issued to citizens wishing to circumvent this restriction although the Israeli immigration services themselves have now mostly ceased to issue entry or exit stamps to foreign nationals.

Have a look at this list....

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Visa_requirements_for_Israeli_citizens

16 countries refuse admission to Israelis... all of them... and "crickets"... nada, not a peep of outrage.

-------

Also, President Obama banned Iraq refugees in 2011 for 6 months – media was silent on that...

http://abcnews.go.com/Blotter/al-qa...terrorists-country-refugees/story?id=20931131

As a result of the Kentucky case, the State Department stopped processing Iraq refugees for six months in 2011, federal officials told ABC News – even for many who had heroically helped U.S. forces as interpreters and intelligence assets.
As for the ban...

It isn't racial:

  • As you know, countries do no make up a "race"

  • If you wish to argue that Middle Eastern is a "race" fine but the majority of Middle Eastern States weren't banned so there was no racial ban.
It isn't a religious ban:

  • There are 51 countries in the world that are predominately Muslim. Only 7 of them were banned thus 43 are still welcome in the US

  • Roughly 88% of the worlds Muslim Population is still welcome in the US

  • When the vast majority of Muslims and "Muslim Countries" are not banned, you cannot accurately call it a Muslim ban
It isn't a Regional Ban:

  • Saudi Arabia

  • Turkey

  • Egypt

  • Pakistan
All are predominantly Muslim and all are directly in the region but are not banned...

This is not a Racial, Religious, or Regional Ban...this is a ban of 7 specific countries.

Why these seven countries:

About a year ago, President Obama and Homeland Security identified 7 countries as a terrorist threat to the US based on the growing amount of terror attacks in the world from these regions....And yes it is the exact same 7 countries that Trump banned.

Obama's response to Homeland was to remove the "visa waiver program" in these 7 countries... This meant that anyone coming from these 7 countries would have to be fully vetted.

Trump took these same 7 countries and is banning them all for 90 days

The seven were not picked because of racism, Trump business interests, etc...they were picked because even the previous administration thought they were more "dangerous" than the surrounding countries in the region...

-----

So it's the same 7 countries. Everyone needs to take a breath here.

I'm so tired of this so-called War on Terror and constantly having our lives and cultures turned upside down, and our rights trampled on, for these boogeymen who we never really end up learning anything about.

They still have the supposed 9/11 mastermind in a detention camp somewhere and they've yet to have a proper trial.

Saudi Arabia, for instance. It's been well documented that powerful people in Saudi Arabia are financing fighting groups within Syria, groups on which the west, including America, consider being terrorist groups. You honestly think Trump will banned that country? Now that's would be something what I call humor.

The American governement is financing terrorist "rebel" groups in Syria, too. None of it makes any sense (and it's not supposed to). It's all a f**king sick charade and it's never going to end.

It was an email sent to employees who look to him for guidance and leadership. This action directly affects the company. Get it now?
Now THAT is a statement we should all support. Excluding others is as unAmerican as it is possible to get.

Yet, President Obama also signed EO for Iranians and limiting immigration has been American policy for over 200 years or do you suggest we allow unrestricted entry into our country, i.e., hundreds of millions of people to come here?

So WHEN IS Cook going to run for president then? He seems to be concentrating on politics giving his 'opinion' out that nobody asked for... more so then the entire Mac lineup.

Oh I see is he joining in the trendy famous people against Trump movement of late?
