He is lying. The truth, that he would say if he was honest, is “our products are now designed in a way that their functionality is severely compromised if users don’t share with us their data or don’t agree to do things in the way we want. This is a radical depart from what Apple once stood, but it is profound”.

Everyday he continues being Apple CEO instead of officially admiting his political career, is causing severe harm to Apple which will be very hard to fix, if at all possible. Although, on second thought, it’s better to lose just Apple than to cause more harm to the whole World.

What political career would that be? Be specific.

Cook likes the media and the attention he receives, Jobs was the opposite. I remember a Steve Jobs appearance on some financial channel in the late '90s where the reporter asked a question that annoyed him. Jobs unplugged his mic, stood up and walked off the set, end of interview.

I saw a lot more written and tv interviews with jobs than with cook.

All your anecdote shows is that Jobs was a dick.

People can hate all they want to on Cook, but the fact remains he is the CEO of the largest company in the world. I think people should care about the products they use and how the leaders of those companies think.

There should be a lot more to the products you use on a daily basis than “it’s stylish and fast”. For me, if I don’t agree with the way a company is being run, or the direction they’re heading, why would I continue to give them my money when there are so many alternatives?

Fact. Though he did calm down a lot after he returned as the “iCEO”.

His Zuckerberg comments were hardly anything other than self serving and just showed just how out of touch Cook is.

How do you know that nobody wants that? Google Assistant is MUCH better than Siri, sorry but it's the truth.

I would love a better Siri on my iPhone.
Great evidence that Cook is somehow “out of touch.” LOL

The company performance indicates he’s very INtouch.

"why would I continue to give them my money when there are so many alternatives?" This is a problem Apple has released new products that are half done. They are getting their butts kicked in home automation because of Siri and Homekit. Soon they will lose the battle with CarPlay and HomePod. I don't know if Tim has plans for political office but that seems to be where his heart is. If everyone starts buying other products that can't be good for Apple.

Ever look at the numbers? Apple crushes competitors in high end mobile, Watch, tablet, and wearables in general. Crushes. iPhone is by far the most popular single mobile device. It isn’t close.

It will take a huge shift from the most loyal customer base in the world to make “everyone buy other products” a reality. Apple sold almost 300M units of their gear in 2017 and iOS devices continue to grow. Loyalty has never been higher.

HomePod is just getting started. People said the Watch would fail too and it’s not only the most popular smart watch, it’s the most popular Watch in the world. Just because they didn’t release it when you thought they should doesn’t mean the game is over. Besides, it’s a different product than its competition.

It is sometimes annoying, but Apple just slowly moves playing the long game, not chasing some short term glory offering some numbers in a spec sheet. HomePod will be huge, i can see where Apple is moving with this.

I don't know if Tim has plans for political office but that seems to be where his heart is.

Why do you say that? Be specific.

Is it because he's CEO of a very large company who sells popular products to millions of people every year, year after year, and he's naturally sought out by the media - especially with all the recent privacy lapses of other companies? Or that Cook is doing his job promoting Apple products and policies?

Can you name another large company CEO who has taken a major political office?

And a lot of the hate here aimed at Cook should really be aimed at Jony. I love the guy's work, but he's a huge bottleneck. Every piece of hardware has to go through his hands, but he can't seem to focus on more than one thing at a time and gets bored easily. (Mac mini? Not exciting.) The new campus was a huge time sink for him, designing door handles and whatnot. Plus, he's the driving force behind the thinness and removal of ports everyone here hates.

As much as I like Cook, I look at that photo and all I see is Beaker from the Muppet Show.

I'll blame MR for choosing that pic.

HAHAHA, Nailed it!

Why is it we don't see any other Company head talk politics like Timmy?

Oh, yeah. Because it's such a bad idea!

Super bad idea. Getting tired of hearing more about his pride and his political view. Apple makes great products. Just stick to the products Tim. You can be a fruit and eat it too..

I guess I just can't see the merits of HomePod. I can't connect it to my home theater and it is very expensive. So what are the things that are going to make it huge. There are other speakers that have voice commands and other music sources. They can be connected to a home theater.

If he was extolling trump and bashing gay people i bet you’d be happy with him sharing his political view.

I am now almost certain that this website, MacRumors, is not really a "fan" site as much as it is a PR mouthpiece for the information that Apple wants to spoon feed the general public. I've noticed lately that MacRumors almost always leaves a fluffy, feel-good piece as the main "story" on the front page at the beginning of every weekend. That way... it's the main point that gets driven into everyone's brain over a two-and-a-half day period. Whatever message it is that Apple wants to get across to the public and drill into their brains... they plaster it onto MacRumors's front page and leave there, for days, as to make sure everyone that frequents this site... is exposed to their message.

Has anyone else noticed this trend besides me?

Gonna be honest, I'm just not seeing it…

Steve wouldn't have joined this program if he were alive :)
Really because in 2010 Kara also interviewed him in front of an audience where he took questions.....and they even played a clip from it last night. Did Anyone even bother watching it before making your blatantly false comments?

Tim Cook needs to keep his mouth shut about politics, and get Apple back in the right direction of building excellent hardware. They are only a consumer electronics company now. Dell, Microsoft, or HP may be getting my next computing dollars.
Have fun with that garbage. Apple still makes higher quality hardware than any of the companies you claim to possibly jump ship for, which you never will anyway like all the others who say ....”Apple better do X, or else I’m leaving”. So childish.

Fixed that for you. :p

You really should not use terms like TONIGHT in postings unless you include Friday as well. Keeping in mind this was posted just prior to the show, a high percent of readers saw this after your post, or even the next day. And, guess what, the show is NOT tonight.
