Tim recently said Apple is watching NRA TV closely and if it turns to "hate speech" they will ban it.

So, Tim is now the police? Who exactly is determining what fits "hate speech?"

Genuine question and a slippery slope.

Guess Apple is still supporting the Southern Poverty Law Center, which is absolutely a hateful organization targeting anyone with a differing opinion than theirs. Very frightening.

How would that make Tim “the police”? Apple TV is a private company’s platform and they can decide what is and isn’t appropriate for it.

What about people who dont need a front facing camera on an iPhone? Do you want them to have a different version of iPhone for them? Your point sets a precedent for creating dozens of different products to make sure every single person is satisfied no matter their combination of preferances.

Thats just not how it works.
If u dont mind sharing your info to have a smarter AI, switch to the competition. Simple really;)

Except your point isn't valid when it comes to software. Software already works like this. iTunes for example makes better recommendations for you based on the songs you listen to and like. The keyboard learns about the words you type to make better predictions. Apple already allows users to opt-in to sharing diagnostic data with themselves and third-party developers. Apple could allow an opt-in for deeper data sharing. They just don't want to.

Subjective statement at best, lots of people here would argue different. iTunes is a bloated mess according to me, recommendations are average and in terms of recommendations - Spotify blows it out the water. My point proven, using software.

Smart CEO's know better than to get political. Look at Trump going after Amazon because of the Washington Post and Bezos' political stance. Politics and religion are hot topics and don't mix with business.

Tim Cook is very smart and he can do whatever he wants. He took on the FBI and won. No other tech CEO would dare to do that.

You never answered my question. I guess Cook doesn’t care about profits right? Considering he’s making political statements.

In the Walter Isaacson biography of Steve Jobs it says that Jobs prefered it that Cook was gay because in Jobs' mind Cook wouldn't have the distraction of a wife and kids and could devote himself to Apple. Not saying I agree, gay people have families too, but that's what Steve Jobs felt.
That’s what Isaacson said he felt. There’s a difference. There are many provably wrong errors in that book.

Crapping out right wing talking points with a white supremacy meme as your damn avatar, and you talk about "slippery slope"... Go away.

If you cut cost enough that people think your product or support is crap, you lose your ability to charge a margin, you lose customers, and you make a lot less profits.

That's how it is now. You can't just "cut things" especially when going upmarket, eventually it effects quality or your products competitiveness and ability to charge a premium and serve those clients.

You sound like you reciting some thing you "feel" is true, but it just doesn't reflect actual economics 101 of 2018.

Eventually if you ******** people you become like Sony who kind of coasted for the whole 1995-2005 period and it wrecked them.

"If you cut cost enough that people think your product or support is crap, you lose your ability to charge a margin, you lose customers, and you make a lot less profits."

Apple product support is getting worse... also people will still buy things because of the aspirational 'luxury' perception of them. See Burberry for a perfect example of how they started to make record profits even though the quality moved steadily downwards.

Sony never positioned themselves like Apple did and when they tried with the Qualia brand, it failed. Sony ≠ Apple.

You don’t think Apple consider themselves a liberal company ? Any evidence to support this angle ? You think Tim’s “gayness” over rides his business acumen ? Really ?

Considering he kept his mouth shut during his meetings in Saudi Arabia, he clearly doesn't bring politics into it. There are many things that Cook fails at, and his sexual preference as dictated by nature isn't one of them.

If he was extolling trump and bashing gay people i bet you’d be happy with him sharing his political view.

I actually wouldn't.... You completely missed it california but thanks for playing.  is a hardware/software/services company. There's no reason to be talking much else outside of the company. I don't care what his personal views are and just stated its getting old hearing about his pride preferences and political views. Stick to Apple.

He doesn’t talk about politics. He talks about morals. Not his fault that one political party is based entirely on immorality (casting out the poor and needy, celebrating infidelity in their leader, destroying the planet, worshipping weapons, throwing people out of the country who have lived here since babies and don’t even speak any other language, etc)

You're literally having a meltdown BRO! LOL

Yeah as if any of the other tech companies bosses are either photogenic or charismatic ? With the possible exception of Elon who at least has a vague whiff of personality about him although that might be his PR team on full steam..funny how little pizazz any of the big tech CEOs have really when they keep banging on about changing the world - the first thing most of them need to change is themselves.

Kara Swisher is an atrocious interviewer. If you watched her and Walt Mossberg interview Steve Jobs way back, everything out of her mouth was idiotic.

Why didn't they ask him a relevant question for Apple, like, "When will the new Mac Mini be released?"

Zuck will have the senate committee eating out of his hand this week.

Omg plz stop the ignorance. Pepe the frog is not racist. No matter what main stream propaganda outlet try to tell you all day. Whats next, they gonna tell us Pewdiepie is a Nazi? Oh wait, they do that already :D
Jokes aside, Tim Cook just sold out all Chinese people to their fascist communist leaders.
So he is just empty words and is in no position to talk about Zuckerberg. He is just a pathetic hypocrite.

So now you’re talking about how well software adjusts to different users. The point that you don’t want to acknowledge is that Siri/AI as a software could work like this. Apple just chooses not to do it.

Your original reply of hardware being tailored to every user isn’t valid to my original post as I mentioned nothing about Apple creating different hardware for each user. Stay on topic.

You brought up recommendations and iTunes. I mentioned, not everyone is happy with the way iTunes recommendations work - infact Spotify is known to be better in this aspect by almost everyone.

This is tied to my point - not everyone is always going to be happy. And to be happy you would need unlimited versions of everything, tailored for everyone. Some might consider recommendations too aggressive, some dont like them, some think theyre great the way they are.

It's an infinite loop, and one which sets a precedent for unlimited versions, which is impossible.
Sorry if I'm confusing you with my theory haha we're all friends here <3

Nothing confusing. Software often always adapts to the user in some way (offering "unlimited versions" as you put it). Yet Apple is rigid with Siri/AI which is why it isn't as good as rival services. You seem to want to harp on about iTunes. Regardless of how well those iTunes recommendations are, the software adjusts depending on how much data the user gives to it. My point is that Siri/AI could do that if Apple allowed users to give more data to it. You're the only one talking about hardware and different versions. The point of software is that it allows for different user experiences.

Sorry you're going around in circles and your tone isnt very friendly at all. I'll end my comments with that. have a nice day!

To the left on social issues, very right financially. Kind of like oil and water in a jar.

Yeah, there was a time not long ago where that described the overwhelming majority of this country, erring on these silly hippiedippie ideas of personal freedom and fiscal responsibility. In these enlightened times, we have no desire for these unpredictable, unquantifiable centrists, and prefer everyone be ideologically extremist lunatics conforming obediently to the rigid dogma of The Party. Eliminates the always-troubling liberal array of views from entering the discussion and dethroning your tribes power structure, and destroys anything resembling an actual liberal democracy from the inside out. Hooray.

That "liberal thought" has been abandoned by the right and the word has been repurposed into a derogatory synonym for hard left democrats, who are less and less liberal in their views as time goes by, is the last nail in this nations coffin. It's all over but the shoutin, now.

...

Saudi Arabia can only begin to be understood with view of its very long and very relevant history. Tim is trying, the new crown prince is trying, and while it seems like progress is slow and not total in the impatient American mind, familiarize yourself with this nation and its cultures and you'll realize how radical these changes actually are and why they're being applied the way they are.
