We have a pathway to citizenship - an immigration process for being in this country legally. My ancestors followed it, I followed it when I adopted a child from another country.

Why people choose to blatantly break the law and why Liberal Democrats are fighting for them I don't know.

We are NOT closing the borders. We HAVE a process. Why don't Democrats understand this?

Processes can be changed, what don't republicans understand about this?. And yes we do have a process for people who who want to come here legally, but how does that help someone who was brought here when they are 1 or 2 years old and want to be a U.S. citizen and in most cases do not speak the language of the country their parents are from? It doesn't.

Ask the Native Americans how they felt about uncontrolled immigration...

History is repeating itself and the Left wants it to happen to an established nation.

So transparent and pathetic.

Hey Tim: perhaps you can hire those dreamers in the country they're deported to.
Hey buddy, immigration is heavily controlled.

I think most here forgot, or don't know, that President Obama asked congress to pass a measure to deal with these Kids - Congress could never agree on anything and did nothing. He then wen back to his attorney general and admin lawyers for options. DACA was the result. He said this wasn't a permanent fix - it was a stop gap. What makes us think congress will be able to pass something meaningful to help these kids now? Repealing DACA is wrong. Neither Trump nor Congress have a plan that benefit anyone. until they do DACA should be left intact.

So I assume you're boycotting Apple and its products until Cook resigns or is fired?
Absolutely! I mean, after the iPhone 8 of course. Well, after the iPhone 8 and new Apple TV. Actually, after the new iPhone 8, Apple TV, and new iMac. Well, more likely after the new iPhone 8, Apple TV, iMac, and MacBook Pro. Oh wait - I need the new Apple Watch too - I'm on 1st gen. Actually, I'd like to see what is going to happen in iOS 12....

Alright he can stay...

I find it funny that you think anyone believes it’s just about not breaking the law. Conservatives believe breaking the law is just fine as long as you’re a corporation, a police officer, or a rich man.
Incorrect. If a law is broken, I can't think of any conservative who would be against the law and due process.

If you are unwilling to discuss issues and see others view points as valid than you are creating the conditions in which Trump will win. It is actually very simple if you think about it. If your main argument is to call someone racist, sexist, xenophobic, how exactly do you think they will vote?

Discussion and debate is how you get someone on your side.
That's much better, except I didn't call anyone in here a racist, sexist, etc, so I'm not sure why you've painted me with that particular brush. I'm willing to discuss issues, but I'm not willing to tolerate intolerance and I don't take kindly to people who ask me to do so just because it's their 'opinion'.

I've tried debating actually (with people in real life), but I find a lot of people don't argue in good faith so it often doesn't lead anywhere productive. The political divide in the country is clearly a problem at the moment so I understand where you're coming from and do agree we need more honest debate in this country, but to say I'm the reason Trump won is ludicrous.

Tim is using his power at apple to become wayyyy to political. He's head of a computer company, not a political lobby group. If I were a shareholder, I'd be saddened he's not focussed on his job 100% of his time AND using his company position for such grandstanding.

Getting citizenship is a loooonnngg process. In some cases, even getting just a green card can take upwards of 7-8 years.

What is the normal/average amount of time 1.5 to 2 years to become a citizen? Didn't DACA give renewable 2 year deferment AND the eligibility to apply for a work permit?

Dems will tell you that they can't vote because they are not citizens. Next they will tell you that it is racist to check someone's citizenship status before allowing them to vote.

That's why Dems are against voter ID. They received millions of illegal votes in this past election but still lost.

DACA is a democrat tool to pander to a group of illegal voters so that democrats overtake the vote of actual citizens

DACA = Democrats voters

Yep.
The reason is simple, linked to the 1A. If immigrants have to pass a true English language test, then English must be legally defined. Even if the legal definition is "whatever Merriam-Webster says." such move would empower the government to completely control language, with all the possible consequences. I will never agree to that.

I did find this...sounds like English is already required for naturalization:

Do you have to speak English to be a citizen?
To become a naturalized U.S. citizen, you must pass the naturalization test. At your naturalization interview, you will be required to answer questions about your application and background. You will also take an English and civics test unless you qualify for an exemption or waiver.

The dictionary defines "American" as "relating to or characteristic of the United States or its inhabitants". I haven't heard many people in Mexico, Costa Rica, etc. refer to themselves as "American".

Actually central and South Americans refer to themselves as Americans or South American.

As I’ve stated citizens of the US have just become accustomed to referring to themselves as American even though that is not the name of the country.

It is but it's a total joke. It's oral, not written. Hardly a test (and you can waive it).

But it was not (and still is not) illegal to employ them since they are excepted by the DACA EO.

Uh, no. It's not illegal to hire them. I thought we were talking about the DACA recipients and not the company.

It is not possible to become a US citizen in that time frame. You first have to obtain permanent residency ("green card"), and then live in the US under that status for at least 3 or 5 years depending on the category. Only then can you apply for naturalization. Obtaining a green card can itself take years, and may not be possible at all if you don't have family ties and/or a certain level of formal education.

DACA beneficiaries already receive a work permit ("employment authorization document") once approved. As of today they have no path to permanent residency or citizenship, since their lawful status automatically disqualifies them.

You are quite literally wasting your time. You are trying to engage in conversation with the fact-free-hysteria zone. Just look up previous posts.

Unless you are descended from a Native American tribe, you really aren't either. And I'd prefer any of these dreamers to any of the native-born dregs we have here who seem to be more into opioids, white supremacy, and militias than contributing to this nation.

You need to spend some time in a "dreamer" community...... I'm a dreamer who grew up around many others.... nothing special about it.....we have the same faults as "natives"
