Nope, I probably wasn't that good at my job, but I retired at age 30, so I'd say who cares if I was good at my job? Trump wasn't very good at most of his jobs, and he didn't turn out so bad, worth billions and the President of the United States. So hey, you stick to doing good at your $40k a year job, maybe some day you can retire.
I'm a petrochemical engineer. I'll manage. Congrats on retiring to PRSI.

You're welcome to explain to me the link between some of the Indian wars of the 1800's and President Obama's decision to limit prosecutorial discretion to allow so "Dreamers" in this country even though they aren't citizens.

If you're saying "but but but....white Europeans displaced indigenous peoples" and that makes 200 years ago relevant to this DACA discussion, perhaps your education was deficient.
How is it not relevant? You make it sound as if it's a simple, black and white issue, when it really isn't. Many "illegal" immigrants from Central and South America are partially descended from Native Americans, so their "illegality" in their own homeland (not ours) is pretty ironic..

It sounds like nothing is going to happen to people currently on the program, the program is just being phased out per Court decisions and because is executive order.

Just a reminder - this is another situation where Obama, if he cared about this, should have gotten Congress to pass a law. IF you don't honor the powers given to each branch than your changes are temporary. Trump can undo executive orders like this all day long because this is not how we make laws and policies in the US.

So why is Apple hiring illegal aliens in the first place. Cook just admitted that they have at least 250 illegal aliens on their payroll.

Have you not been watching MacRumors? Apple under Tim Cook's watch is all about social causes and making political statements. They're less concerned about making quality products and gaining marketshare, or even holding onto the marketshare they have. They think the Millennial mentality of a business putting social causes before products is going to last forever. It's already starting to dye off. As Millennials get jobs and buy property and wake up to the real world, this desire dies off. I'm a millennial, I guess I just grew up faster than most... but like every generation, when you're in your teens, money means nothing, it's all about fun, then in your 20s you're all about the causes, then when you're in your 30s the future starts setting in... and your political views become more realistic. Has happened every generation since the dawn of time. It's why as people get older they tend to shift right. Sure there's always going to be the hippies that just want to coast by being social justice warriors in life, but that's not the norm, it's the exception.

That's ok - I'm trying to figure out how you could think that the conquering of Native American tribes and purchase of land in the US from other countries that laid previous claim to it has a whole lot to do with present US citizenship. Lands all over the world are occupied by those that took the land, in one form or another, from someone else. They, just like the US, can still have "citizenship".
Yeah, and guess what happens to wealthy empires that bar others from entering their conquered territory? Nobody cares about their self-imposed "borders", and they eventually get overrun, and fade into irrelevancy.

Democrats and Republicans swapped political standing (at the latest) during the Roosevelt administration. I, as a progressive, align more closely to Lincoln-era republicans.

I'm not sure why this is so hard for you. Beneficiaries of DACA were children when they came here. They had no other choice and were taken here against their own will. They have committed no crime.

That would be your opinion based on no other reason than..."because they told me so". My opinion is that if liberals are so set on tearing down monuments, remove the monument that is the Democratic Party.

I don't know why this concept is so hard for you. If someone is brought here as a child, that's "against their will." If they willingly chose to stay here as an adult, and they chose not to go through the process of the paperwork to stay if that was their choice, they are illegal. The problem is the lack of accountability.

If my father embezzled a million dollars from a multi billion dollar organization so my sister and I could go to college. He then gets caught. Do the intentions of giving us a better life come into play? Does putting him in jail and breaking apart our family come into play? Shouldn't we still be able to college with that money? You can't take away our future because of my father's "mistake". They are illegal. If you are I got parking tickets all over the place we'd have a warrant on us. So if we got pulled over, they pulled us over for speeding but the warrants came up and now we are leaving in handcuffs right? What makes them better for coming here illegally and their kids staying here illegally? Common sense says if they were here legally, they wouldn't call them illegal would they?

If you came over when you were 3 (against your own will or without any input from you) and have lived here your whole life and you're 16 years old, you're also an "illegal" immigrant in your homeland. Well said.

Of course you are, because when I think Austin, I think petro. Anyhow, like I said, never said I did a good job, I just kicked ass and made good money. Sorry you think insulting betters your average life. Doesn't bother me in the least. Shouldn't you be working? There's 30 mins left in your workday.

These nonsense arguments are so cyclical at this point. We get it, you lost the argument so you go back to your Fox News cheat sheet.

LOL, nice way to deny reality! Love this narrative, the dems have been using it for years. Funny how history only swaps parties on the issues that fit the narrative.

get over it. Being CEO of a company doesn't mean you're not allowed to voice your opinion to the public.

Nor does CEO of a public company shield you from criticism when you voice your opinion to the very public that owns your company.

As part of your retirement you appear to have lost touch. Poor you.

Look at the bright side, when your wife leaves you, you'll get to go back to work again.

Your four year old just stuck a fork in the power outlet, Mr. Mom.

First of all for those that keep up with the argument, the country voted Trump as our president....yes OUR president.
Sure. But that doesn't change the fact that a clear majority of voters voted for the other candidate. Obviously that has an impact on his political capital.
We just want our country back a stable job, a little interest on our savings, and a little more of our hard earned cash back in our pockets after Obama lifted the Tax cuts that we the middle class kind of counted on after our health insurance went from the cost of a car payment to the cost of a mortgage.
Exactly which tax cuts for the middle class did Obama "lift"? And why are you complaining about jobs at a time when we have record low unemployment?
This is the problem with a president that decides to handle his entire agenda through Executive order rather than through the system in place....
"His entire agenda"? How about the Recovery Act (which probably prevented a full-scale depression after the financial crisis), the Wallstreet Reform Act (which does a lot to prevent a repeat of said crisis), or the Affordable Care Act, to name some examples? All properly passed by Congress.

And what about Trump's exectutive orders, such as the travel ban and the rolling back of numerous environmental protections? I'm sure you will protest those too?
As far as the Dreamers? The average age they say of Dreamers is 25. Is there any particular reason why they could not had put in the paperwork for the correct path to citizenship?
As has been mentioned several times already, they have *no* path to citizenship. Their lack of legal status (which is not their fault) automatically disqualifies them.
They obviously know their being here is illegal, or they wouldn't be so nervous right now.
I bet you would be nervous too if you were about to be deported from the country you grew up in to one that is completely alien to you.
Do they also not realize there is paperwork they can fill out now to get legal Visa's and Green Cards so they could get in the system and do things the right way?
No they can't.

Also, although I strongly disagree with Mr. Cook, I respect the appropriateness of this letter, his diplomacy and adherence to his values. He's a capable leader, and I'm delighted that he is at the helm of Apple.

Tim you are a billionaire, why don't you give each dreamer $500k so they can buy the citizenship ?

or donate to each of them $1m to start a business and hire 10 employees so they can become citizens ?

use YOUR money not the USA TAX PAYERS money

All these billionaires are constantly virtue signaling and as they barricade with armed guards, big walls, fly private jets and avoid paying taxes they lecture and IMPOSE ON US gun control, no walls, climate change and raising taxes for big government useless unpatriotic welfare spending

Considering I'm gay and wouldn't want kids for all the money in the world, you're a bit off... but the little rant did expose a bit of your own insecurities. Seems like a really random thing to project on someone. Thanks!

Jesus you sound insufferable. You don't know anything about him or what he does. And why is it even relevant to this topic?

You must have last checked a very long time ago..

I know it's a weird concept for those of you who use CNN as your history source, but the KKK wasn't formed when Trump became president... hopefully that's not news to you.

I do know what he does, HE volunteered his job title, not me. LOL. I didn't give a rat's butt about what he does, nor did I ask, but he felt the necessity to share with all of us.

Sorry, "partner". Unless you're single, which would not be the shock of the century.

Wow, this is like an online version of your "peaceful protests" ... you say you're for peace, then you find the guy who disagrees with you and you jump into conversations to pick a fight. Yep, there's that peaceful tolerant left!
