DACA's first letter stands for "Deferred". This pretty much illegal use of executive power from Obama was supposed to only be temporary and now Trump knows he can use this to get other things that the Dems want. It's really just a political power play, and if you don't see that, you don't understand politics very well. Dems will give him something he wants (Tax Cuts, Health Care, etc) and he'll give them a permanent DACA. And then it will look like Trump is a nice guy.

(In theory). Trump is actually probably not that smart though.

Charlottesville was a toxic mix of morons, bigots on both sides from the organizers down to the supporters. Trying to claim moral superiority is the desperate act of a partisan zealot.
WTH? On one side were Nazis, KKK members and white supremacists. On the other side were protesters against them. You bet one side was morally superior. I can't believe this even needs to be mentioned.

Thanks Tim! You are an American hero, and you prove why Dreamers mean so much to this country.

The post you replied to was about the DREAM act. I assume you know that there is a difference?
Nonsense. There were several legal challenges (including a lawsuit by convicted criminal Joe Arpaio), and every single one was dismissed.
Sorry - this article was about the DACA actions by Trump and Tim Cook's response, so I assumed that was what you're referring to. DACA is illegal and Joe Arpaio was pardoned.

Not one of the quotes from this very "unbiased" source (the Republican speaker of the House) refers to the DACA policy that was actually enacted.
I don't think the previous poster was referring to quotes about DACA specifically. I believe he was referring to the general policy of acting outside of his constitutionally delegated authority.

I don't want to speak for the poster, though.

You clearly don't know what your talking about. You can't just waive what you don't want to take on the test.

There are certain requirements you have to meet but you simply can't just walk in and say " I'm not taking/doing that portion of the test

Have I said otherwise?
You can waive it. Of course there are requirements to do so, like anything else. But you can, it's a possibility.
In any case, the test is a joke.

Again, missing the point here... so you have blatant racism in these quotes. You're dismissive.

You have a weak condemnation of the white supremacists, and that's racist? WOW.

So if the car is blue, and I say it's green, I'm right, it was probably just a joke.

But if the car is blue and I say it's a bluish color, I'm a bloody idiot for not saying it's ABSOLUTELY UNEQUIVOCALLY BLUE BLUE BLUE BLUE???

Yep, that's really how democrats think now. The rules of the TV\internet trolling only apply to situations in which you agree with the side. LOL
I know you didn't actually just compare offensive jokes to an incident where a young woman was murdered, a young man was severely beaten, and a city was torn apart, all by white supremacists fighting to preserve symbols of slavery -- while the president stood by saying there was "blame on both sides".

Unbelievable. But not unbelievable really, because THIS is how Republicans operate today -- false equivalencies, a complete lack of context, and false outrage while skirting around actual serious issues. However, they fail to fool anyone with half a brain.

I don't know if "birtherism" is inherently racist.

You didn't answer my other question. When Trump calls Elizabeth Warren Pocahontas, is he being racist?

How about this? Was this racist?

Or how about these? Racist?

Let me just be candid: My party is full of racists," Col. Lawrence Wilkerson said Friday on MSNBC's "The Ed Show." "And the real reason a considerable portion of my party wants President Obama out of the White House has nothing to do with the content of his character, nothing to do with his competence as commander in chief and president, and everything to do with the color of his skin. And that’s despicable."

If he was white as the driven snow and named Sven Svenson with a Scandinavian father named Lars Svenson and raised for at least part of his life in a Scandinavian country, I don't think it would be racist to wonder if he was a citizen.

You might disagree.

I do disagree because when someone is white they just are assumed to be born here. I don't recall seeing Trump's birth certificate published. I don't remember anyone asking if Romney was really born here. Or either of the Bush's. And then carrying the question on and on for many years.

There was a very interesting article from the NY Times that lays out the case that bringing in more immigrants and deporting multigenerational Americans would make this country stronger.

That's what the colonial powers thought a century or three ago. Throw out (enslave or kill with diseases) all the multigenerational African/Indian/Islander natives, and fill the land with enterprising European immigrant/settlers. The colonials thought it would make those lands/countries "stronger".

How well did that work out? (for the natives...)

There was a question at one point about McCain's eligibility, as he was born in the Panama Canal.

But they are people, and as such should be treated like it..

No they are not. They are ILLEGAL ALIENS and should be rounded up deported across the border immediately and without discussion.

...Presently the lack of class and basic human decency here is disheartening.
Why don't you try sneaking across to Mexico with that kumbaya mullarky and see how far you get. These people are here illegally and should be rounded up and deported.

I am completely in favor of granting full citizenship to people that came here as kids and were raised here.

But, I have a harder time with amnesty for everyone. While I sympathize with them, millions of undocumented immigrants do hurt American workers, especially lower wage workers. They create downward pressure in wages.

While overall undocumented immigrants might be a net positive for the country as a whole, most of the gains go to the workers themselves and the top 1%. Everyone else has to pay for it. Undocumented workers pay around $12B in taxes (all taxes). But schooling for undocumented children ALONE costs $56 billion, and then you add in healthcare costs, and so on.

But worst of all, in the restaurant and agricultural industries for example, undocumented immigrants lower wages. Only corporations like Tyson benefit from this. Without such a large supply of cheap labor, they would be forced to raise wages. The cost of food would go up slightly, but American workers would benefit greatly overall.

I sympathize with undocumented immigrants, I really do. They only came here to improve their lives and their family's well being. Who wouldn't do the same thing in their situation? But they're hurting a lot of poor people here in the US too.
