The problem with Windows is... Windows. My PC is not a Phone. I spent 20+ years developing software for PC's and TBH, windows sucks especially 8.0/8.1/10. Give me unix/linux any day. No sending what you are doing to the mothership.
The sort of system I built are a real PITA to do with windows. Implementation times went down by 60% when we moved to RHEL. After 40+ years of software development I am so glad that I left Windows behind. It is not the future. It is the past.

Good old Red Hat still going solid.

I have nothing against Tim Cook and will keep buying Apple products, we all have that choice. I also get no kicks from belittling someone. With that said tho, I do think Tim feels he is "serving humanity" with his effort to develop the Apple Watch to be able to read your blood sugar, greatly benefitting diabetics. Whether he accomplishes that or not he and a team are attempting it. But it qualifies and so good for him!

There is a lot of stuff I don't like about Cook, but I think the Windows joke was funny.
Does no one realize Tim Cook is talking about the fact he was poached from Compaq by Steve Jobs???
[doublepost=1497030705][/doublepost]
SJ poached Tim from Compaq. He worked at IBM before that. I swear there's nobody left in the Apple community who remembers a g-d thing from before the iPhone.
I 'member, LOL!

Hey, Joe. I don't fault you for being young. Not everybody can be ancient and wise. But if you don't at minimum know the bio information on https://www.apple.com/leadership/ off the top of your head, you shouldn't be writing about Apple.

The MacRumors groupthink is strong in asserting the belief that the Mac has stagnated. Touch Bar is not the next step in man-machine interface as it offers no real applications beyond gimmicky features. In a mobile device thinness and weight are not an issue and yet they continue to push thinness and weight as if they do matter. Balancing portability and power? No. Power and battery life. I need infinite battery life. I'm on my devices all day. From when I wake to when I'm drifting off to sleep.

Also, Apple charges an Apple tax and yet they don't pay their due taxes. Minimizing their tax burden is disgusting. We need to fund our ongoing wars and Apple needs to pay up.

So: are you saying these forum members are wrong in their estimation of Apple as a company and its product lineup? We predicted the iPod failure. Where is the iPod today? That's right. We were right. It was overpriced and a useless toy. MacBook Air was a joke in 2008. And it's barely updated today. Failure. Apple is too arrogant. Wireless is not the future. My father always told me Wi-Fi was a gimmick. Slower and limited range. Bluetooth is the same.

Apple needs to focus on REAL computers.

MacBook ($500), MacBook Pro ($800)
iMac ($500), MacPro ($800)

All Blu-ray, all SD card slots, all Ethernet ports, all USB, all headphone jacks. Innovation.
Not sure if trolling or serious

I never bought or used a Blu-ray disc. I've used an SD card slot maybe once in my life.

In your personal finances, do you not look to pay the lowest possible tax rate? Apple is not dodging taxes, as what they do is legal. If you want apple to pay more taxes, vote for politicians that share your views and who will work on fixing loopholes.

Wi-Fi is a gimmick? You're right. We should have Ethernet ports in our phones too.

iPod a failure? Do you live in an alternate reality?

Are you sure? Apple's profit margin (not gross income) is currently 38.93%!
https://ycharts.com/companies/AAPL/gross_profit_margin

Microsoft's is 21.73%
https://ycharts.com/companies/MSFT/profit_margin

Google's (Alphabet) is 21.92%
https://ycharts.com/companies/GOOG/profit_margin

As we can see Apple makes twice as much profit as Microsoft or Google; you're talking rubbish.

Ah! Of course the "smarty one", that thinks he can get away with cheating.

Here's the profit margin for Apple:

https://ycharts.com/companies/AAPL/profit_margin

Which is 20.85%, lower than Google or Microsoft.

Do you understand what "gross profit margin" is very different from "profit margin"? Of course you do, but you did it anyway!

Hint: If you want to serve humanity, don't avoid taxes to that extent.
I’m taking this to mean you volunteer to pay out more income tax than legally required of you? No? Didn’t think so.
[doublepost=1497031327][/doublepost]
I don't pay taxes I'm not legally required to pay either, but call me crazy.
So many on here act like they just offer up more than required of them. It cracks me up.

I really hope you don't think that the iPod was a product failure. Once smartphones took over, there was no need for iPods. Here's some sales figures of this so called "useless toy". They may be useless now, but not back in the day.

Why would you be shaking your head? Cook can have a little humor too. It's normal. Not everything Cook does has to focus on innovation.

This is true as long as you deliver. If you don't you might want to put focus back on important things.

p.s. If you want to serve humanity so much and are the most wealthy company in the world, don't cheat on taxes.

SMH! Another cringe moment from this Guy! Tim cook keep Focus on innovation rather than making fun of other companies.

A lot of blind people on here who don't want to criticize Tim Cook. Not sure how Timmy the fool can poke fun at Windows these days when Microsoft is putting out some really interesting products (excluding their dead phone).

My favorite thing about window laptop these days are the lack of dongles and ports that are actually useful!!! The surface pro was evening using a magsafe pro type charging port!

Time for Time Cook to resign

Has been said several times already, but if they wanted to serve humanity (and the environment), they should make their computers modular, upgradeable instead of 1- way products.

They are at least willing to serve humanity. Unlike many of us here trolling them for their choice of words.

True (taxes) because I prefer the state/ government to take care of how things go in my country than a company that is essentially there to make money! And boy they do....

Still not sure if you're joking. That's how off base I think you are.

I could dispute every point you make but I don't have the time so i'll just say a few things.

If infinite battery life is so important, how come no other companies offer more battery life than Apple? Your unreasonable demands are butting heads with physics and you also miss the entire point of tech. No one wants to hold a brick. When I hold a tablet and even large phones for over 5 minutes, my hand gets tired. That's not the future. The future is light and thin. It can be so much thinner and lighter and that's what it should and will be.

Apple pays more tax than any company in the U.S. I use an accountant and minimize my tax burden so I suppose I'm disgusting too, right? If you're not paying the absolute highest amount of tax yourself, then you are disgusting too, right?

The iPod is what gave Apple a resurgence in the 00s. But make no mistake, Apple could've milked iPods for many years more but instead killed it off by introducing iPhone. That is what tech companies do.

I run a business in NJ so I understand pricing vs. market demand. You obviously understand nothing about pricing and think everything should be made brand new for you but given bargain bin prices.
