Didi Chuxing president Jean Liu has been named one of TIME's 2017 most influential people, and Apple CEO Tim Cook wrote an excerpt about her for the magazine.

In it, Cook calls Liu a "disrupter" for building a transportation platform that offers "convenience and flexibility" to millions of commuters. He lauds Didi Chuxing's work on algorithms that improve traffic, saying the technology could eliminate traffic jams in the future.

Apple CEO Tim Cook met Jean Liu in 2016 after Apple invested $1 billion in the ride-sharing company. Following its investment, Apple was given a Didi Chuxing board seat, held by Adrian Perica, Apple's head of mergers and acquisitions.

Apple's Didi Chuxing investment provides Apple with access to data and expertise on both electric and autonomous car technology, a useful resource as Apple works to develop a self-driving car software platform.

Not if it’s using Apple Maps and Siri it won’t. Not by a long shot.

It's very interesting to see the evolution of transportation through Tesla and Lyft and Uber and such here in the US. I look forward to the day when my fully automated electric car drives me around. :)

I'll be impressed if you can fix traffic jams in Toronto. That landfill isn't getting fixed anytime soon.

This could happen and we would have to scramble to build a new one true to it's morals.

And the Chinese family planning will do wonders for human overpopulation, in China, too...

I find this stuff to be really interesting, and I would like to see it in action. I question the ability to eliminate traffic Jams though. Maybe reduce.

More reason Timothy Cook should be fired since he should be back home in California solving problems before going abroad.

That's why Tesla is king since AI and autopilot will remove the flaws of human driving from the equation and being based in the heart of Los Angeles they know traffic better than anyone else.

I don't think that's it as she is not the founder or current CEO.

And Cook is a globalist, I don't think he cares just about America.

Why would anyone in their right mind hire a someone from overseas to help solve a traffic problem! They have a food crisis over in that nation and that why china is trying to buy up everyone's food supply and Tim thinks they can help solve a American traffic problem! You are right, Fire this idiot.

Not even advanced aliens from the Andromeda galaxy that can travel faster than light will be able to solve traffic on the Cross Bronx Expressway during rush hour, much less a Chinese hailing company.

Waze does a fine job with this, routing hundreds of cars through residential shortcuts, pissing the homeowners off.

    I love it.

We view traffic jams as sort of the transportation equivalent of cancer.
