Scott was Steve’s protege. They got rid of him because they (especially Cook) feared him. Jobs liked a tough competitive nature in his employees. He liked them to compete to come up with the best ideas. Cook is more like “Let’s all hold hands and sing a song!” We’ll all be the best friends and no one is allowed to compete on ideas.

You do realize that you contradicted yourself in that paragraph? If not, here's a hint: "they got rid of him because..." and then "Cook is more like 'let's all hold hands...'".

Based upon the reputation he 'enjoys' online, Tim Cook must be an emotionally cold, calculating bean counter -- with absolutely zero vision or imagination beyond fiscal numbers. He certainly does not appear to be the Kumba-Ya type or a man who is out there to radically change the world or even disrupt the industry. There's no soul or culture left in anything that Apple does these days -- and if anything can be said about Apple led by Steve Jobs, then that there actually was a lot of culture in the products of that period. Today, it's all just reiterations of the same old, tired marketing scheme - but without soul.

Let's talk about apps like https://itunes.apple.com/gb/app/deen-e-islam/id1079308257?mt=8 That reads (under English > Articles > Family Masail):
  • "No wife can become lovable unless she fulfills the rights of her husband and keeps him pleased." (article: Rights and Obligations of Spouses under Shari'ah)
  • "In case a woman is actually disobedient to her husband ... the husband should try to make his disobedient wife understand her fault ... if this too does not work then he can beat her lightly." (article: Does Islamic Sharia permit the husband to beat his wife?)
  • "The modern age is an age of sexual liberation and sexual equality as preached in the West. Many a misguided Muslims have joined this ill-directed movement. So far as human equality is concerned men and women both are equal before Allah, but so far as the mundane life and management of households is concerned here as well as in all other human organizations the working principle is the superior-subordinate relationship or the principle of hierarchy." (article: Rights and Obligations of Spouses under Shari'ah)
This was just one random islam app I downloaded and these are rather common teachings, nothing extreem. Yet I was shocked.

Tim, please stop lending your platform for spreading the islamic message of suppression and abuse of women.

@MacRumors please give this subject attention; it's very serious and important.

Be careful - you’re not supposed to unveil the real Islam. It hinders their slogan “religion of peace.”

I wouldn’t say DakotaGuy is contradicting; tc and all the “yes men” (“yes people” for the delicate) beneath knew Forstall was a leader/businessman (“business person” for the fragile) and wouldn’t play in their pc games, so they ousted him to begin their kumbya song.
Otherwise, I agree with your statement on the current state of Apple; a once bustling and colorful house of innovation and world changing has gone cold and is seeking ways to rapidly stamp out minimally revised devices as quickly and cheaply as possible. Kumbya isn’t working. Yet, here we are - tc still trying to push the song...

Craig and Jony are almost as weak as Cook. They knew if Scott kept moving up they’d be moved out especially peddling poor ideas like Jony’s MacBook Pro disastrous keyboard and a trash can Mac Pro that was designed so it could never be updated even by Apple! Apple is still living off of Jobs visionary iPhone and iPad. What did Cook bring us? The HomePod! Wow!
Nah. Scott was a pain before. Bob Mansfield left Apple because of him. Though, if Scott Forstall can change his attitude being a pain, that would be awesome... though he'll never get a majority vote for a chance with all the former are still there at Apple. Including Bob.

Sure it can be a good thing for corporations to have some humane outlook on issues, but the on-going showcase of Apple-branded stances is apparently keeping Cook so busy that Apple no longer has a steady stream of products hitting the shelves.

I'm starting to believe Cook will go in politics in the not-so-distant future at this point, it would actually make.

I've never seen Apple take a stance contradicting their business interests. I'm not calling Cook a liar, just he hasn't proven anything.

mm...renewables? they could decide not to go through.
but u could argue that apple is using it to enhance its image.
my question would then be, why not the other major companies?

These CEO's think the USA can keep bringing in a million LEGAL immigrants a year, and a million ILLEGAL immigrants a year, while also bringing in hundred of thousands of "REFUGEES" a year, most of which take huge amounts of government assistance and are mostly low wage workers, while still selling their 1000 dollar hardware...

These CEO's absolutely don't care about the country, once this country is ruined, they will just go to another country and sell their product. But rude awakening CHINA WILL NOT SELL NON-CHINESE PRODUCT! So if that's their master plan, good luck.

I'm not saying this in a sarcastic manner, but do you really think Tim Cook lives in a "diverse" neighborhood?

you are right. you will also be right when your coffee price will double, when your cleaning or gardening cost will triple, when the fast food joint will charge you higher...

Strong CEO there. I applaud him for speaking up on these issues.
Yeah really strong on topics which don’t bring income for the company...
Like a school principal talking about her favourite course on the PGA tour. Who cares.

Talk about Macs.
Selling them years after release for identical price. And how not giving any discounts on those relates to his policy of making technology accessible by the most amount of people.

Aint nobody got time for you to hide behind your random political side quests, taking attention away from the bs mac line up. Next please

All laudable things...

Now can you be more open, its 2018, let those who want to load apps from any source do so (those that don't want to can happily continue with the Apple app store). Lets have more integration with Amazon/Google music and anywhere else I choose to purchase my music from without you trying to make it hard.

And please stop with the incessant greed, you make enough money without screwing us on measly memory sizes, especially when you don't allow us to upgrade it later.

He does on things like open integration with others such as Google and Amazon, app stores etc - you can't have it :D

Yes, but our wages would rise because we wouldn't have the competition of the constant importation of low wage workers. Don't you think it's fishy that the same corporations who do whatever they can to lobby for low taxes, alway lobby for mass immigration?

As far as Tim Cook, I do dislike his general lack of charisma and penchant for grandiose speech.

But after visiting the Statue of Liberty, I was duly impressed by this:

"Give me your tired, your poor, Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free, The wretched refuse of your teeming shore, Send these, the homeless, tempest-tost to me, I lift my lamp beside the golden door!"
By the tone of discourse in here, it is clear that we have lost this North Star (or maybe we never had it).

Like almost all companies, it's those at the top that can hold a company back.

Personally, Until both Jony Ive and Tim Cook leave, we won't see any exciting changes coming from Apple as they are the blockages for the company.

Once those two are gone, and there is new fresh blood, hopefully the new leaders will have a fresh new exciting vision of what to do, and not just "Keep the giant ship Apple of the same steady course" as we are getting for the past few years

“Apple doesn't give one dollar to political campaigns.”

But Apple executives give lots of money to political parties/candidates.

https://www.opensecrets.org/donor-l...Apple+inc&name=&order=desc&sort=A&state=&zip=

...but there's nothing wrong with that doing it as private individuals, is there?

Is he ever going to talk about new great Macs too?? This guy should have been replaced with someone more competent a long time ago!

Why exactly do you call him incompetent?

No interesting questions are ever asked that we would actually want to know the answers to. It’s the same privacy, human rights, blah blah blah questions with Cook. His interviews are as boring as Apple has become. I’m going to go back and watch Steve Jobs interviews, I’m still highly interested in his answers even though they are years old and I’ve seen them dozens of times.

That makes him a strong CEO? Seriously? What about business acumen? Does that not matter anymore? Taking a stance on social issues is more important than properly running your business? He really needs to mind the store. Cook credibility is dwindling.

So are you suggesting he's not not doing a good job as a CEO? Breaking news: he is doing pretty well. Customer satisfaction is high, products are rated very well with customers, revenue is extremely high.
He is properly running his business. What would you describe as improper about it?

Tim Cook... always talks about everything except the Mac. They need to get rid of him and he can go into politics where he belongs. Time to bring back a product visionary like Jobs to run Apple. Scott Forstall is my pick.

This is my dream. Unfortunately though Apple isn’t nearing bankruptcy like it was when it was forced to make change and is now making more bank than ever so I doubt there will be any changes soon.
