Can the headset get announced already so I can make fun of it for being $3000 with no games?
I’m pretty sure they have deals with a few game developers so on launch day they have a couple of games ready. The launch of Resident Evil on the Mac makes me think they will have the VR version like on the PSVR2.

Lol that's a good joke

Sony's got that exclusivity locked down, that ain't leaving PSVR 2.

And again...$3000...

Lol I didn’t know about the exclusivity. I’m glad I have it on my PSVR2. Anyways I’m not paying even $2K for a 1st gen 😂

C'mon you gotta burn $2,000 on the Apple Reality so I can make fun of you for burning $2,000 on the Apple Reality. I can't roast anyone and the headset if no one buys the headsets. 🤣

Apple CEO Tim Cook has seemingly teased the company's upcoming mixed-reality headset in an extensive interview with GQ.

Cook features on the cover of GQ's Global Creativity Awards 2023 issue. The interview with GQ's Zach Baron, titled "Tim Cook Thinks Different," delves into multiple aspects of Cook's career, premiership, and personal life. Explaining why Apple may, hypothetically, be interested in AR/VR hardware, Cook said: Cook went on to suggest that measuring physical objects and placing digital art on walls are just the start of the potential use-cases for AR, seemingly implying that there are far greater possibilities. Baron then raised the fact that in 2015 Cook told The New Yorker that he was highly skeptical of Apple manufacturing smart glasses, similar to Google Glass, as an early AR product. At the time, Cook said:Now, Cook admitted that he is willing to say that he was wrong:Baron then asked Cook if the fact that neither Google Glass nor Meta's Quest headsets have made considerable impact among consumers would make him skeptical of Apple offering a product in the AR/VR space. Cook responded that Apple has a history of succeeding in areas where people have doubted it:Read the full interview for more information about Cook's thoughts on leadership, his public image, comparing himself with Steve Jobs, working at Apple Park, his pay, and more.

Saying that the quest hasn’t made much impact is a bit of a stretch….it’s made a huge impact comparatively. Zuckerberg and his weird meta verse flopped but the rest of us play Red Matter II, Kayak and HalfLife:Alyx ;)

Someone didn’t tell Sony; Resident Evil 4 is Already available standalone on the Quest 2. No PC or Console required.

Lol that's Resident Evil 4 from 2005 ported to VR. The one I was talking about is Resident Evil 8 Village.

My biggest concern is that there have been almost no rumors about controllers/input. Just about all of today’s VR controllers have two buttons, a thumbstick, a trigger, a grip button/sensor, all touch sensitive, and a system button or two on each controller.

If the Apple kit supports that kind of controller, I don’t think they’ll have any trouble getting game ports, but if it’s only hand tracking, they will have more trouble getting a library of good games,

I’m curious what new software this headset has. Because I’m pretty sure I can collaborate with others pretty well without one.

That's the original game, not the remake that came out two weeks ago. Not that it matters since we're talking about Village, not RE4.

Apparently he wants everyone in the office wearing goggles.
I can see it now - he with his "Mona Lisa pissed off/smile" face wearing those, then some random people from the office who were also told, quote "wear the F***ING GOGGLES and smile for promo video!", something like that.

It's really telling how tenacious Cook has been about their AR/VR strategy, it makes me feel like they have something truly surprising and innovative which will rock the tech world. My gut continues to tell me this will flop hard, but Cook's tenacity makes me wonder. He's a bean counter by nature, much less of a visionary than Jobs, so would he really risk so much if he didn't have an ace up his sleeve?
Great post man. Enjoyed reading it. I think Tim has a surprise up his sleeve. Definitely. Don’t forget that Apple has the dough and genius to build something extraordinarily brilliant. Well see.. but they bet you’re going to love it! 💰🤡

Please just release an Entity, Component, System (ECS) based Declarative RealityKit 3.0 that works like SwiftUi but for 3D/AR/VR! This is my prediction for WWDC 2023! :)

This has failure written all over it. Google Glass users saw people actively turn away. Make the glasses invisible and it might work.

Let's not forget the hard fail that was North's Focals.

They seemed to get everything right on experience and design and still consumers didn't want it.

IF any of you come sporting Apple Glasses 2 in a year… I am gonna say <i told you so.. if not i’ll eat my crow and enjoy it :p

What I am MOST excited about at this point, is the end of all the fervent rumours.
