Example? I can only speak for 1st world countries where the model's design changes every year or at most every two years.
In the US: Chevrolet full-size vans (I don't think the Express has changed in 20 years), Ford Crown Vic, Honda Ridgeline 1st gen, Toyota Tacoma.

Of course, by design I'm referring to complete redesign, not just a new grille or similar.

No doubt he's thrilled selling people the same four year old design. Imagine if Apple sold cars without updating the design for half a decade.

Actually, because of need for fuel efficiency, which is hugely impacted by wind resistance, most cars in the same category have homogenized design, and the design changes are now relatively minimal. But yes, there is more room to make design changes in a 17 foot car that weighs a few thousand pounds , than a 6 inch phone that weighs 5 ounces.

with a response like this, here is what I see when I walk near an apple store:

When people flock like that it usually means there’s a decent reason for it.

People who mock this behaviour obviously have no taste because they are sad and lonely creatures who criticise people who enjoy life and its perks.

It probably wouldn’t be worth it for most people but I’m not most people lol. I was initially going to get the X but after thinking about it I don’t feel it’s worth all the hype or wait. Next year I’ll pick one up when nobody cares about them.

Thanks! Yeah I’ve noticed a lot of hate here recently regarding Apple products and I don’t get it. I have what is probably the most hated MacBook Pro ever released which has been flawless and I have really enjoyed my equally hated iPhone 8 so far.
I've had my share of frustration and resentment with Apple but, yeah, for an enthusiast site, the atmosphere here is more than a bit hostile.

Cook also commented on the LTE issues plaguing the new Apple Watch, which have caused some major publications not to recommend the device for purchase. The bug surfaced when reviewers got their hands on the Apple Watch Series 3 and noticed that it often wouldn't connect to LTE. It turns out, the watch is mistakenly joining unauthenticated Wi-Fi networks with interstitial agreement pages that can't be bypassed. Apple has said the bug will be fixed in an update, but has not given a timeline for the fix.

"The issue is very minor, it will be fixed in a software update," Cook told CNBC. "It has to do with the handoff between Wi-Fi and cellular, and we'll fix that. It only happens in a rare number of cases. I've been using it for quite a while and it works great. So we're very happy about it."

I figure anyone in such a professional roll as Tim Cook would know a better way to mention what he did.

Most of those will be on the shelves by the end of the year.
(Sorry, I just loathe the iPhone 8, it shouldn't have existed)

For Apple, how can you be happy with a new product launch not being a total sell out?

In other news, Cook says he's pleased with iPhone X sales. "Well you know the iPhone X is sold out at all retail and online sales locations, showing tremendous and unprecedented demand"

Timmy is thrilled that only 2 people show up in China to buy his "Best Phone Ever".

uh - interesting - the question why should we expect lines in China or anywhere when you can simply go online and pre-order but I get what you are saying...apparently Apple was expecting lines and/or rowdy crowds.

Apple should be thankful they are being bailed out by the US carriers and AUP - anywhere else folks are being asked to pay full outrageous prices.

The question is: Why does anyone buy an Iphone 8 Plus knowing that in a few months he can have the best phone for not much more? I don't understand that...

Best is subjective in this case because the best choice between two excellent options depends on your needs and circumstances and your preferences. The iPhone X is not the absolute best in the eyes of every consumer.

Some people don't want the Notch, don't want the changes in the user interface that the new display and removal of the home button entail, don't want the price, don't want the wait, don't want the form factor at all, don't want OLED, even. Those are the reasons I remember reading, just off the top of my head, and if I weren't about to rush off to run some errands I'd come up with more.

You're listing economy/utility models when we're talking about high end. Name one high end car from BMW, Mercedes, Lexus or even Honda, Toyota, etc. that doesn't get updated every year or two years?

Of course He’s thrilled with the poor sales of the iPhone 8! It means there will be more people buying the more expensive iPhone X!!!

I'm not understanding all the hate. Dividing up the launch is ultimately a smart move for everyone (both apple store employees and customers). People who want this phone will get it, and those who don't will wait for the X. I'm seeing it this way: the 8 is the most-improved upon version of the 6 design. The X will be beautiful, no doubt, but a side by side spec comparison only has a few advantages: smaller form factor and front facing camera improvements (including face ID), all of which I can live without for now. Looking forward to picking up my 8+ after work without any lines while the X customers go crazy melting the apple store servers in a month.

Personally it suits me that I don’t have to crawl over a sea of humanity just to get a phone. As for the X, I am going to wait until a later gen when it hopefully comes in gold+.

I mentioned Toyota and Honda and they're not economy/utility models. I don't think of any of these phones as high end anymore. If anything, they are more utilitarian.

EDIT: I expected a change in questioning. First, it was asked for an example of a car manufacturer and now it's a "high end" manufacturer. When one doesn't like the answer, refine the question.

They spent so little time on 8 in the keynote it was obvious they care about it as much as everyone else does... The 10 is their focal point. 8 is a fallback and stopgap for those who feel safer with touchid.

When faceid reassures people that it is the better solution (and it will be once the tech has matured, X doesn’t convince me yet) then 8 and it’s primitve bezels, home button and fingerprint sensor will be a thing of the past.

I just picked up my iPhone 8 from AT&T after initially ordering an 8 Plus from the Apple Store and I have to say it’s definitely a nicer looking phone than what came before it. I traded in a Matte Black 7 for a Silver 8 and the glass back is beautiful. The texture is much nicer to hold than the aluminum and while the phone is slighter heavier than my 7 I think it makes the phone easier to hold and type on. The display isn’t a huge upgrade but the true tone is nice. The camera seems to have better light filtration but I can’t tell if that’s related to the display or the updated camera.

Biggest reasons to upgrade include the wireless charging, faster processor and better camera. Not a necessary upgrade but it only costs me $15 more a month than my 7 so why not?
Just got mine! Restoring from MacBook right now!

I agree. But my point was then why even launch the 8. Instead do one thing really well instead of introducing fragmentation in the same generation of hardware.

The iPhone 8/8+ box has the back of iPhone, that itself is a bad omen. Who would show its back to the public who loves it. In its zeal to do something different, Apple has really really lost its plot. Apple should concentrate on being technologically different rather than being different on packaging.

And maybe Tim also wants to show that this will the last in this design of iPhone.

Well - I have a 5s so it's a major upgrade for me. Also, I have to direct my energy to getting an X for my daughter since she wants one for Christmas.
