What else do you expect him to say......

As a stock holder who owns a decent amount of shares, I had a feeling I should have gotten out before this launch. But I wasnt following my own gut and now have lost thousands and thousands of value.

I just hope the demand for the Iphone X makes up for it. I know I have two people in my house that will be ordering the X.

I mentioned Toyota and Honda and they're not economy/utility models. I don't think of any of these phones as high end anymore. If anything, they are more utilitarian.

EDIT: I expected a change in questioning. First, it was asked for an example of a car manufacturer and now it's a "high end" manufacturer. When one doesn't like the answer, refine the question.
I know right? changing goal posts but even with high end cars, there are generations

Here is an example of BMW M3 series
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BMW_M3

It applies to every car

I mean, Apple knew this would happen. This is their way of killing the "old" line and rebooting with the anniversary "X" phone.

No doubt he's thrilled selling people the same four year old design. Imagine if Apple sold cars without updating the design for half a decade.

Same design? It's damn near the same phone. No idea how Apple have gotten away with effectively re-selling the iPhone 7.

Yes, and then next year the 'X' will be the regular iPhone release and will also start at £1000, because all the people who bought one this year only justified to Apple that charging £1000 for a smartphone is okay.

The same way that they got away with selling the 7, when it was nearly identical to the 6s. or the 6s, when it was nearly identical to the 6.

It's about branding, marketing, and consumerism urge to replace tech every year regardless of actual noticeable difference in day to day use

That's my worry too. And makes you wonder what they will do next year? Will there be a 9? Will the line up be X at 8 prices and a premium Xs or something? Just worry that, as you said, this means going forward that £1,000 will be the standard price.

I drive a 2012 Civic. Just paid it off this year. No interest in ugrading because I prefer my cars design to their newer models.

That's smart thinking. If Honda sold the exact same car four years straight why pay more than you have to? Applying this logic to iPhone the smart choice, except for the 6 which is a lemon, is the 6S since it's basically the same as 7 and 8 but for less money.

Do you honestly think he needs more money? At that point you don't really care.

It's not about "needing" more money. At that point, money becomes a measurement of pride.

You see plenty of million and billionaires doing illegal things to get even more because of status.

Absolutely pointless article. Why the heck would a CEO of a company come out and say "THIS WAS INCREDIBLY DISAPPOINTING." even if it were disappointing... their job is 100% tied to the performance of what the company produces. Articles like this make me believe that this blog is an Apple marketing tool - that the authors are in bed with Apple, perhaps given money to write up fluff to inflate stock prices. BUY BUY BUY, BECAUSE ITS GREAT GREAT GREAT.

The question is: Why does anyone buy an Iphone 8 Plus knowing that in a few months he can have the best phone for not much more? I don't understand that...

For me it's the notch and faceid. I haven't bought the 8 plus but if I did it would be because of those two reasons.

When people flock like that it usually means there’s a decent reason for it.

People who mock this behaviour obviously have no taste because they are sad and lonely creatures who criticise people who enjoy life and its perks.

Ouch

Undoubtedly less demand with the iPhone X looming, but best indicator is order times since Apple has been actively discouraging lining up at stores. Order times on website are already slipping to two weeks for some models.
Already? This used to happen way quicker. When I ordered my 6 two weeks before the launch, I received it like 2-3 weeks after launch because of supply constraints. My mom ordered an iPhone 8 two days ago and received it today.

You're listing economy/utility models when we're talking about high end. Name one high end car from BMW, Mercedes, Lexus or even Honda, Toyota, etc. that doesn't get updated every year or two years?
Easy, the BMW 3 series. In fact, most car companies only do generational upgrades every four or five years. This goes for Honda, Acura, Lexus, Toyota, Mercedes, BMW, etc etc.

Umm, right. Or they could have done that even more effectively by not even releasing an iPhone 8. And watch this space for the iPhone 9 (8S) to slot in neatly behind the X before they get rid of the old line.

Tim Cook's Apple? The regular iPhone will start at £1000 next year. He'd love nothing more.

What is it about human beings, that we want to see the failed succeed, and the successful fail?

I wonder how many people will stomach buying a £1000+ phone:

a) Each year (which will hurt future years sales figures)
b) Once they have dropped it
c) It's been stolen...

At least if I drop my phone, it's "only" £600. A 1k phone tips an important scale for me. I have a case on but it'll only protect it so much. Of course there is gadget insurance, but then that makes the ownership cost even more expensive.

If I was an Apple share holder I would demand Tim Cook’s resignation !!
The 8 won’t sell well and I have doubts about the X will sell any better.
The best iPhone IMO is still the SE.
