"Tim Cook is a brilliant leader. His accomplishments are incredible."
You make these assertions on the basis of what? His not having been asked to step down (yet)?
Which of his many incredible accomplishments would you consider most incredible, even more incredible than all of his many other mind-blowingly incredible accomplishments? Seriously, enlighten.

Reading your handle, I'd say it's wiser not to engage. All the best to you,

Ummm, this is some good popcorn.

If you just judged by these comments, you wouldn't be aware of the reality of quarterly revenue of $46.9 billion and quarterly net income of $9 billion

Tim Cook is a brilliant leader. His accomplishments are incredible. It's amazing how small minded jealous people who have little success in life work to tear down those who actually succeed at life.

Well, you have a point. But he could have more revenue if he would listen to us small minded and jealous people that have little success. I have to admit, I am that. If he doesn't pump out great products, we will eventually migrate to other platforms, then he will be screwed.

Despite all the well deserved criticism and acceptance that things ain't flourishing on the innovation front anytime soon, no matter how many red flags re: Apple's decline ... their shares are actually going UP!

Somebody once explained why this anomaly happens but dashed if I can work it out, readers

He didn't. Apple did. Apple isn't a one man show!

I love when people question Apples direction and somebody immediately replies with some sales numbers as if to prove that any doubt is misplaced :D

How does it give any indication of where Apple is headed? The answer is simple, it doesn't

Yes the iPhone is moving extraordinary numbers at the moment but nothing lasts forever, its easy to forget at the beginning of 2014 Blackberry had 85 million users worldwide.

My favorite Jobs quote ever was when he was asked about the 25th anniversary of the Mac..

."I don't think about that, When I got back here in 1997, I was looking for more room, and I found an archive of old Macs and other stuff. I said, 'Get it away!' and I shipped all that **** off to Stanford. If you look backward in this business, you'll be crushed. You have to look forward."

"Brilliance as a business leader"? - perhaps they know a different Tim Cook? It's been a bumpy, downhill ride ever since he's come on board.

Perhaps the people running MIT are becoming more "business" and less "technology" oriented. Tim seems in the middle. I would have at least asked Elon Musk, or a senior engineer from (fill in the blank).

More engineers and technicians, fewer managers and life-coaches. It's what the world needs.

"Live each day as if it's your last as CEO. Someday you will be right" - Tim Cook, 2017

:D

"I have looked in the mirror every morning and asked myself: "If today were the last day of my life, would I want to wear the watchband I am about to wear today?" And whenever the answer has been "No" for too many days in a row, I know I need to change it.”

As an alumnus I am not too happy about it. They usually pick better.
Better? You must be kidding. I have it on good authority that "Tim Cook is a brilliant leader. His accomplishments are incredible". How do you get better than that?

I would settle for a CEO that uses a computer as a computer.
You know for content creation.
More than an email!
It kills me that he thinks an iPad is all we need, but it does explain the
current situation that the mac is in :(

"This is the most amazing speech that we have ever delivered. It's smaller, slimmer and it has more words in it in the superlative than you can imagine! I am so proud to be part of this amazing company, where we push the boundaries and we also have an app store. We pay gazillions to developers. Developers like you, whom we care about, more than our Mac Pro lines. You are the iPhones and iPads, and we're amazingly proud of you. And for this occasion we have created a new wristband for the Apple watch."

Well, good luck, Tim, make it more inspiring than Apple is right now...

I do like craig federighi!

Agree 100%, loved Scott Forstall, too. :) Rather disappointed by Phil in the meantime and don't get me started on Mr. iTunes Cue. (sigh).

Good luck to MIT grads trying to stay awake through this!

Sucks for you guys! So many other actually inspiring choices out there. Instead you get the bland head of a corporation that is the epitome of offloading manufacturing to China and skirting tax through complicated legal loopholes.

What an inspired choice and role model for young professionals. I wonder how much Apple paid to get this gig!

Tim Cook is VERY brilliant......at riding the Steve Jobs gravy train. If it was 1996 and Tim Cook was brought in to save Apple....Apple would be dead today.

Tim just isn't blessed with the charisma or speaking ability of SJ. Apart from that an aura came through Steve that this was his life's passion - Tim seems like he hijacked Steve's ethos as a marketing ploy. He seems less genuine and more stilted, like he is carefully coached to please Apple shareholders.

I think all the students should replace their tassels with dongles.

As for the hate about this man, I can see people's frustration, because by now it is obvious that he is not a visionary (Never was hired for that) or creative product person and he has to know he is not.

What I would criticize is that the support cast from the creative team isn't coming up with anything but updating what they have. Maybe a shake up is in order?

The salami tactic to put another slice after little slice into a mature product like the iPhone , ipad etc. is no longer accepted for the price points they command.

Most People are just waiting longer to upgrade, which is why they have to look into other markets.

All in all he was so far able to protect the bottom line billions, but in the product/ creative department he has been disappointing. He should not even make the presentations.

If I was presented with a Hello again, event and all my employees would put on my desk was that MBP, I would have asked: That's all? Are we done with Macs? You guys have to be kidding!

Depending on what I was told, I would have said that we need fireworks for the next Mac presentation and postponed it until iMac, Mini maybe Pro (Don't think they care) etc. were ready.

Another few months of waiting wouldn't have mattered, but at least there was something to show and see.

Oh well.
