The nazis were not socialists. Anyone who actually knows history is aware of the fact that the name is a fluke. It was a deliberate attempt to place their fascist party outside of left/right politics by borrowing signifiers of both. Socialists, especially early 20th century socialists, were 'internationalists', and very against the idea of nationalism.
The nazis did not nationalize industry, they actively hunted down socialists, communists and labor leaders. Even before WWII they helped Franco, another fascist, fight against the Socialists in Spain (who I might add were the legitimate government, not Franco).
In fact it was just as much a death sentence to be a socialist in nazi Germany as it was to be gay, Jewish or Roma.
