Good news is it takes a long time to get out of the Paris Climate Agreement, and the final step is after the next election.

Countries can't withdraw until three years after the Paris Agreement went into effect.
The Paris Agreement entered into force on November 4, 2016; so this means the US would have to stay with it until November 2019. After that, the rules mandate a one-year notice period, which would mean a withdrawal in late 2020; after the next presidential election on November 3, 2020.

Today, the Paris Climate Agreement is polling at over 70% in favor with voters (indicating Republicans are split on it, with Democrats and Independents strongly in favor), and well over 50% in favor among the whole US population. This will be a campaign issue in 2020, and Trump has set himself and his party up to be on the wrong side of it.

Yeah, yeah. And Hillary was going to win in a landslide also.

I find it humorous Zuck spoke out. He's only slightly less evil than Trump. Slightly.

As for the US, all I can say is register to vote. As a reminder, 39% of US registered voters did not vote in the 2016 presidential election.

Register now and crush the GOP in the elections next year and then vote in 2020. Whoever wins will have much work to do to undo the damage.

What damage?

So far... jobs up, stock market at record highs, illegal immigration down over 70%.

Things seem to be going pretty damn good so far, regardless of your party affiliation.

I love it. You have 456 likes in 12 years and I have over 6,000 in one year. And you're commenting on who will be missed. LOL.

I'm making Macrumors Great Again.

All that means is that I have a life while you derive your sense of self worth from how many people like your posts on a silly tech forum.

This. People literally have zero idea what is coming. Zero. This is part of my "perfect storm" that I believe is coming. Billions of people displaced due to rising waters will lead to a refugee crisis unlike anything ever seen. Governments desperate to protect their resources will lock down all dissident thought and activity. Wars will break out over water. Then, we'll get some large scale massive disaster (say, Cascadia fault rupturing) which pushes powerful countries like the US over the brink. Everything quickly slides into chaos and petty warmongering. I'd say we've got till about 2040-2050 till then.

I love how everyone want to save the planet but don't bother going down to countless help centers to help out actual human beings.
Because they want to help with other people's money and effort

What billions? Earlier today you said the US was broke

:D
That's why you are not getting them. Cause they are not there :D

Such a stupid, STUPID decision. There are now 194 countries who are part of the accord, and 3 that are not: Syria, Nicaragua, and the United States - and Nicaragua only refused to sign because it didn't go far *enough*.

Apparently, Trump cares not for his children and grandchildren - he'd rather have a Pyrrhic victory in erasing anything President Obama accomplished.

Did you see Children of Men? Most plausible view of the future in my mind. Not the fertility issue (although I wouldn't be surprised if that happens), but the crumbling state and the refugee hoards. Whether climate change is the culprit or not, the real problem is the obscene overpopulation. It cannot go on forever. Something is going to snap.

Shhh... if you tell leftists that global warming will create "refugee hordes" then leftists will embrace global warming.

Can you explain *why* it's a stupid decision?

Obama was stupid enough to agree to something that could affect our economy so trump is thinking of all American children

We don't need global warming to create refugee hoards. The human cancer is doing a great job regardless of the political football du jour. Massive overpopulation. Billions of people worshipping imaginary sky wizards. Grotesque wealth hoarding by a few. The makings of a perfect storm. Glad I don't have kids. Cesspool Earth here we come!

I'm completely convinced that Trump could announce gun control tomorrow and all of a sudden the liberals would support the second amendment. It has absolutely nothing to do with the action anymore, simply that Trump is doing it.

This is the saddest day in American politics since the assassination of MLK. If you don't think that, I doubt your sanity.

Do you remember the Kyoto Protocols? Google it up - Who was one of the only countries who did not sign on to that one?

It's not the first time USA has done this.

Anyway, if you want to save the planet, do it anyways - without laws and subsidies. Soon electric cars will make a lot more sense than gas burners. Solar power can really get cheaper too!

The planet can take care of itself. It's been doing so over 1000 times longer than humans have existed, with sea levels 30M higher to over 100M lower.

The planet does not elect the president. (It doesn't need to.)

The 50 states do, and voters in most of those states think there are more important things to them than maybe 0.2 degrees in the far future.

If and when the planet try's to have its next ice age cycle, that's a far bigger problem for human civilization. There were no humans in North America before the last one.
