I don't get it... we have people starving in America. People who need good paying jobs today. We have a failing healthcare system that is in a tailspin and we're sitting on $20 Trillion of debt. We have serious problems that need fixing now, not 100 years from now. Yet, opponents rather we waste time and money being part of an accord that will do what? We can, and have been to date, help save the planet without this agreement so why do we need it now? Trump is 100% right for pulling out. We have Americans that need help today.

It's hypocritical of Tim Cook to chastise Trump for pulling out of the Paris accord, while at the same time continuing to outsource its production to China, which never agreed to be part of the Paris accord in the first place. China's lax environmental regulations is one of the reasons they can produce iPhones so cheap, and one of the reasons Tim is so rich.

These CEOs don't really care about the environment. They only care about lining their own pockets.

Very well said. Cook is the largest hypocrite of all the big companies, while they all take advantage of Chinas poor human rights and environmental policies, cook keeps BSing how much he cares about social issues etc....while ignoring the very problems exist in the country that build his hardware, and he even invests in it supporting the current setup. The guy is one greedy individual who is two faced. Let him be greedy, but enough of his views on anything not Apple related. He cannot even have an intelligent conversation about his own products....everything is "awesome" "brilliant" "amazing pipeline" just a broken record.....

Tim is just another CEO, though he does Fake a hell of a lot better. All about $$$$$$$$$$$$. All while apple donates nudda to environmental causes, but geez they have a great PR machine.....

Looks like fake news, when did he say that? The media are masters in turning Trump's quotes around and putting words in his mouth like you are doing now.

I could only find this:
"If you can't get rich dealing with politicians, there's something wrong with you."

"My entire life, I've watched politicians bragging about how poor they are, how they came from nothing, how poor their parents and grandparents were. And I said to myself, if they can stay so poor for so many generations, maybe this isn't the kind of person we want to be electing to higher office. How smart can they be? They're morons." –Donald Trump, New York Times interview with Maureen Dowd, Nov. 28, 1999

Priorities:
- Fix the MacBook keyboards
- Fix the incompatible TB3 controller
- Fix product price points, especially outside the US
- Fix hunger
- Fix climate change
- ... whatever you care about

You are a CEO of a trillion dollar company, if you feel the need to contribute, run for office.
Otherwise just do your job.

Apple has the capital, influence and power to actually fix much of this world.

But, keep making those watch bands, Tim.

You honestly think Apple, a company, has the power to influence and fix much of the world? This statement identifies several problems we face today.

We have Americans that need help today.

but don't hold your breath that all those other nations are going to meet and line up to sign an agreement to help us out when it comes to fixing our country and fufilling the needs we have.

they and so many others are so quick to come out and criticize our country and decisions Trump makes yet I don't see them stepping up and saying they will gladly fill our role and fund things instead. In fact they have had just as many decades to step-up and lead yet they haven't. they mainly exist to criticism us when we don't fork over the money.

Frankly, I am not too worried about all this. Leaving Paris can't be done over night, its a process that will take years — and in the meantime Trump will become history and his successors will have to fix all the damage.

Yep, Trump is exposing how bonkers U.S. system actually is. Its incredible how much power is delegated to a single person.

I knew the Queen of England has enormous powers over all the common best countries, but she never exercises these powers. But know you see what happens if an idiot get these powers.

Throwing money away on climate change makes people feel good. It doesn't matter if one cent actually goes to climate change. As long as these people believe it's helping them they are happy.

You do realize that China is part of the Paris Accord, right? Not only that, but they joined EU countries in chastising the US for leaving. Syria and Nicaragua are the only other countries not in the accord. Nicaragua didn't join because they didn't think the accord went far enough.

He could donate billions to the Paris Accord. He won't though.

He didn't say rich at all, you're turning his words around. Not poor does not equal rich.

And he was talking about several generations staying poor, there is something to be said about that. So sorry, fake news again.

So what? They chastised us? BFD. China is pushed because they lost a big payday. That's it.

Hah. There's Tim being Pro-Life again...

Not sure why, honestly. This species is about 8 billion too numerous. If it's so stupid it knowingly kills itself off, then it gets what it deserves. Good riddance to bad apes.

Ironic that climate change deniers can use a computer developed by thousands of scientists and engineers -- all of whom understand the basic fact the man made emissions are choking the planet, ruining our air, fouling our rivers, and produce world-wide warming.

Indeed, let Trump push just a little harder an US products will be banned in future. No inbound flights to Europe for Republicans :)

The earth will be dead by overpopulation before climate change will do that, why the focus on climate change?

In my view it will only support more population growth as did the green revolution 60 years ago.

The Paris agreement does not cost any money directly. It's not like that money would otherwise go to healthcare or whatever basic need you guys don't seem to get right in the US. It's an agreement that forces every country in the world to lower their CO2 emissions. EVERY country in the world!

So while we are moving towards a cleaner, sustainable industry and energy sources, the US will invest in cleeeeen coal??? What a joke. Not only does that not exist (and no companies will make those investments), it will also put the US at a disadvantage against the rest of the world.

But ok: keep on being the second biggest polluter in the world, soon you'll be the first. And the rest of the world will shun you. If the US wants to isolate itself, go ahead. The brain drain will soon follow and you'll become a nation without innovation, healthcare or proper education. Stuck in the previous century. But hey, you'll think you're great again. We'll think you're the laughing stock of the world.

Article VI of the US Constitution says otherwise: "This Constitution, and the laws of the United States which shall be made in pursuance thereof; and all treaties made, or which shall be made, under the authority of the United States, shall be the supreme law of the land;"

Sorry if someone responded to you already but your quote does not rebut the original commenters. They said
1) Treaties are made by Congress (true)
2) Other nations cannot tell us what to do.

How does our willingly enter into a treaty = other nations telling us what to do? Any treaty Congress enters, Congress can end. Your quote reinforces his point. We decide which treaties to enter, not other nations.

Global warming is a phony religion. Its brilliant, really. Look how many followers there are already. And by calling it "science", the Government can circumvent the limitations of the Constitution while making tithing mandatory. Go Trump!!!!!

I'm a "scientist". Exactly what scientific part of climate change don't you understand or don't you agree with? I'm happy to explain it to you.

I'm sure you can't answer this question because you don't understand the basic facts about climate change. You just repeat whatever you hear Trump say. Open a book, look at the science, think for yourself.

Hundreds of comments on this, mostly from US citizens. I just wanted to voice something from outside that bubble.

It is deeply saddening and worrying that this is even a debatable issue within the US. Whilst clearly many Americans value science and the future for the benefit of mankind, it is disturbing that there appears to be a growing consensus within the US denying truth in favour of conspiracy.

I do not live in your country or attempt to understand the rationale, but from my perspective there appears to be something deeply wrong with the education being given, which is leading to this attitude.

Every nation on the planet agrees that climate change is having a deep impact on our planet, there is evidence everywhere as well as looking to other planets in our solar system. The evidence is not in question as far as people are concerned. The economic benefits are also everywhere to be seen, as a long term solution to the growing energy crisis.

I hope those in the US can convey a better understanding of facts over fantasy to the population, and I dearly hope that this doesn't come at the expense of a major disaster. Our planet will still be safe as it is humanly inevitable that we must act, if political pressure fails today then economic pressure will succeed tomorrow.

Sadly this pulling out (Trump could have just changed US commitments...) will put America last in the worlds opinion of trusted, reliable partners in global affairs. It may well save a few dozen jobs today but this could have dire consequences for America's status as a world leader.

So I do not understand what is wrong, but I hope something can be done to bring a united understanding to the US population. It is clear this is not going to happen through the current administration, so please look at what is best for you and your children instead of blaming circumstance on the Left or the Right, as neither side truly care about your personal circumstance. Do not be taken for a fool by opinion over your own understanding.

Good luck.
