Withdrawing from the agreement despite the settled scientific consensus is very unfortunate and will potentially have very bad consequences for future generations.

It will be one of those moments in history that we look back on and ask "What were they thinking??"

There is no settled scientific consensus. Earth has been hotter than now before Mankind set foot on it and it has gone through ebbs and flows of heating and cooling.

Blaming the carbon boogeyman is nonsense. You can just as easily plot the population explosion in the 20th and 21st centuries as the cause...

I'm not sure if there in sarcasm meant here or not. But having said that....

Global Warming is the ultimate scam. When the elites stop flying private jets to far off places and then hop into fleets of SUVs to get to the venue wherethey try to guilt me into giving up my incandescent bulbs for reading lights, then maybe we can talk about it.

Global warming is a societal problem, not an individual one.

It's OK for one or two elites to fly private planes.

It's not OK for millions of people to fly private planes.

Capitalism makes this an unfair fact of life, but global warming doesn't care about capitalism. It just cares about total CO2 in the atmosphere.

Republicans will have to deal with this unfairness about global warming.

Climate change is a hoax. GET OUT OF THE PARIS AGREEMENT!! It's killing American jobs. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN

Climate change deniers aren't scientists and we shouldn't listen to them, since they are biased by corporate profits.

We should listen to scientists instead, since they aren't biased by corporate profits.

And scientists say global warming is real and man-made.

Unless we can find a renewable that can produce energy on the scale of fossil fuels, it really is unavoidable. Also, I'm more worried about the toxic particles the come from fossil fuel run vehicles than some naturally occurring molecule like CO2 which the earth needs to even support life on this damn planet.

Our activity definitely affects the environment but a few degrees of warming isn't going to kill us. I do think we need renewables, but the sky is falling narrative about climate change seems a bit exhaggerated.

Democratic party at its weakest point since the 30's.

Sorry, nobody is listening to you.

Sounds like you're listening to Fox News.

In reality, the Republican party is killing itself right now. The Democrats just need to relax, get a beer, sit back and watch the tire-fire train-crash implosion that the republicans are doing to themselves.

Maybe the state of California should just threaten to leave the US? See what happens then...

Good Riddance. Seriously they'd be just another country and they would still sell their stuff to us. Or we'd replicate what they have somewhere else.

If we must have a billionaire in power, I'd rather it be one who is intelligent, thoughtful, well-read, with a long history of handling complex negotiations that successfully steered a complicated multinational corporation through rough times without sinking it with one eye on profit/product/internal corporate needs and the other on the world in which that corporation exists rather than a once-real estate developer, TV show host, licenser of gold-plated name and inarticulate Twitter addict with no scope outside his own shockingly narrow and shallow field of view.
I really enjoyed this post. Thank you.

Are you a scientist?

What research have you published to draw this conclusion?

Not a scientist, are you? If you are, are you funded by the UN or the US Government? Please state your certifications , degrees and published works on the matter.

I am a private citizen who recoils at the suggestion, "the science is settled". Science is never settled.

If it was a crisis of human survival, would leonardo by yachting all over the world and flying people(burning tons of carbon) to film festivals? Obama flying jets and motorcades to speak at climate conferences (for big $$$). Would a video feed have been more responsible?

Plenty of evidence that the earth is just fine and climate systems change. Oh the arrogance to think we could change the climate and/or "fix" it.

Unfairness about global warming? What? Also, capitalism is the greatest type political system. What is unfair about it? People compete. Products are therefore better. Do you think Apple would exist without capitalism, let alone any other company?

I'm glad you agree that it's OK for rich people to fly private jets, since they do not contribute substantially to global warming, and that it's a problem that's more a problem for the common people to solve, since they contribute substantially to global warming.

Then Apple should build products that would lasts for years. They should not sell Macs that are crippled and gets obsolete in 6 months. iPhone release should be every 2-3 years and iPad should be every 3-5 years. They need to get rid of yearly iPhone upgrade program. My suggestion is nothing new to Apple they already done this to Mac Pro and Minis. Imagine millions of those Apple products being shipped every year that includes deliveries that's a pretty significant carbon footprint right there. Millions of those Apple products being dump somewhere because not a lot of people turn their old products to Apple. If Tim actually does this then he actually putting his mouth where he speaks. As of now other than he says to look good to the media and for himself.

If someone is rich, then they are most likely rich because of hard work & dedication. Who are you to tell them what they can and cannot do? If you have beef with that... ask your buddy Al Gore how his private jets and mansions are from the millions he's made off this crap.

We liberals think it's OK to limit your rights and freedoms so you don't harm the environment.

Our goal is to control the out-of-control Republicans.

This has to be a joke or a troll. Republicans control the executive the legislative and the judicial. 2/3rds of state governments.

The people have spoken , but communism never listens to the people.

The fact that you think the Paris climate agreement has anything to do with politics is exactly why we're all screwed right now.

Us and the MR editors...... though we are more screwed by the lack of comprehension on this site, check the category it's in....

Let me guess, you also thought the Warsaw Pact had nothing to do with politics....
